#2866116 Official 7-26 Practice Thread

Posted by CharlottePanther on 26 July 2014 - 10:40 PM

Just got back from training camp. My observations.

Cam looked pretty good but also a little rusty. (Not worried at all, the overall same body of work was there, fully confident he will be back to norm in a week or so) toward the end of practice it did look as though he was walking MILDILY gingerly on the ankle, oddly enough, he looked more comfortable when running, it was only when he was walking he had a very VERY minor limp, nothing big deal though.

Kelvin Benjamin runs some super crisp routes and has great presence to him, dude will be a TD machine no doubt.

Brenton Bersin. Suprisingly I think I saw him get more reps with the 1s than I did Kelvin Benjamin during O Vs D team drills. (Will be very suprised if he doesnt make the 53 man roster considering he looked solid and got a ton of reps with the 1st team offense)

The D looks more physical, the front 4 in particular. Definatley looked more stout up the middle.

Its still way too early but as far as our O line, Cam had a decent amount of time back in the pocket and D Will found some pretty good holes to burst through on a few occasions. Time will tell though.

Umm, pretty much all I can think of for now. The big story was just how many reps Bersin got with the 1st team, he might have been lined up in every play the 1st team offense ran, somewhat suprised to see that much of him, and he really did look good out there.

#2838592 Cam ranked smack dab in the middle of QBs according to some league insiders

And they put Andrew Luck in Tier 1 with Manning, Brees, Brady and Rodgers. I can't take these guy seriously.

They even put Flacco, Stafford, Foles, Kaepernick and Eli above Cam.

Andrew Luck to me is a The Golden Calf of Bristol but with improved passing skills. His stats are all over the place but yet he is hailed as the 2nd coming. The dude is a interception machine

So in other words, hes the corner version of AE

#2802062 Prediction: Kelvin Benjamin > Sammy Watkins

Posted by CharlottePanther on 28 May 2014 - 08:59 AM

Who does he resemble?

By the looks of it, if Benjamin ran in the 4.3s, hes possibly the next Megatron. Now he will probably be a little better than Brandon Marshall, which is good

I think Kelvin is our no 1 WR from the start. I really believe gone are the days a rookie cant start right away and needs a few years to develop. Look at all the recent players in the last few years.. Guys like Julio Jones, AJ Green, our very own Star, Luke and Cam, other ones like Russell Wilson, Luck and RG III, Matt Kalil, Doug Martin the list goes on.

All those guys came in and made immediate impacts. Think about it, what players in recent memory either A. didnt start the 1st year but then came out and the following years and lit up the league or B. players that have started the first year, sucked but lit it up the following years. Infact, I would argue starting guys as rookies is the best plan. These guys dont stay 22 and 23 years old forever, you have to capitalize on that.

KB will tear it up this year.

#2781778 What did Jimbo say about KB on NFLN?

Posted by CharlottePanther on 11 May 2014 - 11:46 PM

I truely belive Benjamin can be Cam's megatron or AJ Green. Meaning Cam is a pretty darn good QB, but a WR of KB's size and upside could push Cam to elite level. Can you imagine all those sailing and erratic Cam passes that KB would have caught that Smitty just couldnt?! I truely believe we win that Cards game last season with KB at WR. No way we dont convert those redzone opportunities with a WR like KB

#2781380 We didn't do Cam any favors, and if this is it we're gonna have some...

If he does see the field it will be very limited. People that think CJ and Hardy are now suddenly endangered species because of a 2nd round unproven rookie are delusional.

I said it once and ill say it again. Im not quite sure I agree with the whole draft BPA over need mindset. Ok so we get Ealy, great. Hes a
BPA. The problem is, hes not seeing the field anytime soon. Sure hes "leverage" but so what? We still have a oline in shambles.

Say im shopping for a car, Im a family man with three kids. I have the choice of a SUV or a porsche. Well using my BCA strategy (best car avaliable) im getting the porsche because BCA overrides all! Nevermind the fact I bought a 2 seater coupe when I have a wife and three kids that still dont have anywehre sit.

So we got our porsche in Ealy. Unfortunatley Cam is the kid left out in the cold because there isnt enough room for him in my porsche.

#2778626 6th Round - Carolina selects RB Tyler Gaffney, Stanford

Posted by CharlottePanther on 10 May 2014 - 04:32 PM

Im really starting to think Gettleman just needs to trade picks 4th-7 for a extra 2nd round pick every year. Damn we cant draft worth a crap after the first three rounds.

Seriously guys. With the crap we drafted rounds 4-7, can you honestly tell me what we got is better than reaching for need and drafting nothing but Oline? Why is it so hard for Gettleman to be balanced? Why not draft BPA first three rounds then draft solely on need rounds 4-7, why would that be so wrong?

#2774258 2nd Round Pick Kony Ealy DE

All you calling for Gman's head for not drafting Moses. Im going to fall out laughing if he falls to us in the 3rd and we end up getting him anyway

#2772863 Realistic Expectations for Kelvin Benjamin This Season

Posted by CharlottePanther on 09 May 2014 - 05:09 PM

Faster than 4.61 idk where they got that number neway

Great vid! 4.5s is very solid for a 6'5 240 lb WR, dont know where all the concern is coming from. Alshon Jeffery ran in the low 4.7s and hes 2 inches shorter and he put up north of 1100 rec yds last season

#2770627 why you should be excited about kelvin Benjamin

Posted by CharlottePanther on 08 May 2014 - 11:32 PM

Im very excited. Ive been wanting a big body WR so bad, I wanted us to take Alshon so bad a couple years back. The Huddle has this strange obsession with small, slot WRs when the fact is, the NFL is getting bigger at WR and the smaller slot guys are a thing of the past. For those knocking KB's speed, hes a inch taller than Alshon Jeffery and ran a faster 40 time and Alshon is beasting in the NFL. We can basicially now run two TE sets almost with Olsen and Kelvin's size with Underwood on the outside as our speedster. Love the pick!

#2770602 Not feeling good right now....

Posted by CharlottePanther on 08 May 2014 - 11:27 PM

I love the pick. I dont know what is about the Huddle's obsession with small slot WRs, the NFL is going the way of big WRs. Oh and for those knocking his speed with a 4.6 40 time, Alshon Jeffery is a inch shorter and ran a 4.69 40 and he is beasting

#2769934 General Round 1 Draft Talk

Posted by CharlottePanther on 08 May 2014 - 10:21 PM

Yes!! This is EXACTLY the kind of WR Cam needs, a big bodied WR to catch his sailing passes.

#2761105 the 2011 draft was so freaking bad

Posted by CharlottePanther on 04 May 2014 - 01:45 PM

all i remember about hogan was in late 2011 against the texans he pushed kevin walter out of bounds, stopped covering him, which left walter wide open for a TD. really good heads up play bc yates zeroed in on him instead of other options and it led to a flag.

that's it. i don't remember him making any bad plays the next week or two. pretty sure the week 17 shellacking was because of sherrod martin. god, he was so fuging miserable that year. then his replacement was haruki. ugh.

Only thing I remember is him getting in trouble for pissing in public.
