#3258053 Nice Saturday AM haymaker thrown by TimTom Hasselbeck

Three-peat Super Bowl Champions.....

And I'm not saying that to be ridiculous. You have to look at what Wilson has been afforded since he came in the league:
- #1 defense with an incredible secondary (our defense wasn't good Cam's first year, then the next year they played great but choked at the end of games)
- consistent/healthy run game (Stewart is a beast also, but he has been no where near healthy)
- reliable receivers (Seattle's receivers are grossly under-rated. Cam has always had Olsen, but he isn't a threat to take it all the way)
- consistency in familiarity (OC changes/COMPLETE WR revamp)
***only consistency is a horrible o-line***
- also, good STs play (turned a few games for the worse on our side)

[All in all, it's really unfair to compare the two on a VERY uneven playing field. Taking nothing from Wilson, very good/smart QB. But Cam would have taken the NFL by storm if he had all the luxuries as Wilson, he really hasn't done bad without them tho. You have to take into account what Cam is asked to do versus Wilson. No way we win a game where Cam throws 4 ints and only completes 2/3 passes the first half. It's naive to believe these things don't make a difference]

Since you know so much, what would Seattle look like with Cam?

Ridiculous, doesn't even take into account what Cam is asked to do versus Wilson. At least it won't as bad as the article on NFL asking who the #2 QB was behind Rodgers. Only gave two choices, Brady or Luck.......kind of insulting to a four-time Super Bowl winner.

#3256652 League wide veteran purge

Posted by mbarbour21 on 27 February 2015 - 01:54 PM

Yeah, I think a lot are having to make decisions regarding cap and some vets' play have just fallen off or rookies have over performed. 30+ year old RBs, expensive 3rd WRs, back up DTs who could start, and the unknown due to recent injury. I think a lot of it has to do with the recent rookie crop coming in and balling. They can afford to do it because they have younger, cheaper guys filling slots/needs.

#3255143 Panthers interested in bringing back Ted Ginn

Posted by mbarbour21 on 26 February 2015 - 11:20 AM

He might get cut in august because theres a chance Gman goes HAM in the draft and FA and gets a few legitimate weapons. I said might. If we have a younger, cheaper version of Ginn i could see him being the odd man out. Kinda like the hair guy this past season. Like i said, may. Who knows what type of talent we will have at WR come august. All i know is we have some cap space and draft picks.

Yep, Cleveland is the safer bet. More money, more playing time, bigger role, and family. Who knows with us? We may really like Oher so we opt to grab Strong in the first, then Agohlor (or whatever) in the second. Humphries in the third. I mean who really knows? If people fall we could go:
1st- DE
2nd- CB
3rd- OT
Then go on to draft a receiver late. Too unpredictable with the draft looming, and a deep receiving one at that.

#3255127 Dolphins Trying To Trade Mike Wallace

Posted by mbarbour21 on 26 February 2015 - 11:07 AM

Wallaces speed and abilities would help this sluggish offense much more than his bad attitude would Hurt it. Come on folks. You guys just sound like a bunch of high horse babies.

Our offense sucks balls, to be blunt. Its slow, boring, and needs a lot of help.

"Nah, he has a bad attitide"

Good lord folks gice me a break. This stupid good boy attitude isnt gunna win games

I bet he could be had for relativly cheap

If we can get him at a good deal with minimal risk, then of course. I really don't like the fact he quit on his team. Do I know the whole story? No. But im also not making the decision on whether he comes here or not, so doesn't really matter. I just don't like it. It looks bad, I'm sure it wouldn't go over well with other players. He just seems like one of those "ticking time bombs" Getts talked about.

I remember a play when our season was on the line. 4th and 19, and Teddy snags a deep cross for 25.
He will never be confused with an elite WR. But his year here proved he could be productive as a WR. Throw in his return ability. And he is someone that can help us win games.

I thought that was what we were going for? That winning games thing.

Agreed. He was big in the Pats game as well. He has big play ability. We need him or someone similar.

#3254548 Andre Johnson could be released if he refuses to take pay cut

Don't want him. Can get a guy similar or better in draft. Need that money for more important things.

#3251024 Late Round/Undrafted Prospect: OLB/S Neville Hewitt

Posted by mbarbour21 on 23 February 2015 - 03:43 PM

Late Round/Undrafted Prospect
OLB/S Neville Hewitt

I haven't seen Hewitt mentioned and didn't see him invited to the combine. I'm actually a little surprised given his history, flipping from SS/FS to MLB/OLB. He went from 6'1" 190 in High School to 6'2" 220lbs at Marshall. Hewitt ran a 4.5 40 in High School, so 30 lbs later, his best was around 4.65. An NFL weight management plan could fix that.
He could play situationally and on STs at first. He would be an ideal replacement for Harper. Obviously faster and younger, but also able to come up like a LB. (Which has been mentioned on here about where Harper plays) Thomas Davis could also take him under his wing and help his switch from LB to SS. Yes, Davis did the reverse, but I'm sure he still has some advice that would help Hewitt adjust.

Hewitt won the C-USA Defensive Player of the Year in 2014 totaling:
123 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 PBU, 1 FR, and 1 int
(18 tackles and .5 sacks in one game)
(Includes 9 tackles and .5 sacks in the Bowl Game)

"Had surgery in February of 2014 to fix a herniated disc, pinched nerve and bone spurs and then went on to win Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year. Team captain. Noted film room junkie. Has been able to overcome much adversity off the field and stay focused in the classroom, maintaining a 3.0 GPA."

Read more below:

Most of the C-USA DPOY have been underwhelming in the NFL, but that's not an end all. There have been some good players to come out from the C-USA.

'97 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year

CB Patrick Surtain

'O3-'05 C-USA Offensive Player of the Year

RB DeAngelo Williams

A few notable players from C-USA

- Randy Moss - Asante Samuel

- Roddy White. - Matt Forte

- Brandon Marshall - Dontari Poe

- Linval Joseph - Ahmad Bradshaw

- D.J. Haden - Ishmael (ATL 7th rounder)

Of course Hewitt could always still play LB, but I believe he would be best suited at SS. Either way, he has the talent, determination, and the mental capacity to succeed.

"What put Hewitt over the top, he said, was his work in the film room, which was essential for his transition to linebacker. As a safety at Georgia Military, he was left free to roam the field and make whatever play necessary. Moving to linebacker, the 6-foot-2, 219-pound Hewitt became responsible for many of the defensive calls, helping the defensive line in front of him and the defensive backs behind him."

I don't know how to put video in the threads, but I have a link to his Senior vid. If anyone will explain how I will add it.

#3242803 All-time worst Panther starters?

Posted by mbarbour21 on 15 February 2015 - 03:24 PM

I might be the only one to say this, but I'm not sure Dwayne Jarrett was that bad of a receiver. Maybe something behind the scenes, but I remember him making some tough catches in traffic. I also remember wondering why he didn't get more looks.

#3242710 Brandon Marshall could bump Smith out of Baltimore

Posted by mbarbour21 on 15 February 2015 - 01:16 PM

I don't know I think he's got a chance of getting in even without 2 more 1,000 yard seasons. Sure his numbers may be a bit lower than the rest but as long as he reaches 1,000+ receptions and gets over 14,000+ yards I think he gets in. I believe they'll take into account that he is only 1 of 3 players in the Super Bowl Era to receive a triple crown. He is also only 5'9 and DOMINATED in run first offenses. He was able to get the Triple Crown while being on a team that threw the least amount (Delhomme was #32nd in pass attempts IIRC during the '05 season). That is insane. Maybe I'm a little more optimistic about it than you guys, but I believe he's going to get in.

Totally agree with this. Should make it without another yard. IMO. But it's just my opinion.....so.....

#3242488 Huddle Up with Cam Newton

Posted by mbarbour21 on 15 February 2015 - 08:29 AM

But that towel tho...

On a serious note, I completely agree with you. People don't realize that Newton is a tremendous talent. There are players who are excellent who have never even played in a Super Bowl/Championship Game. So much goes into building a successful team. It's not about one person. However, you can build around one person. For us, that is Cam. Cam has done well with what he was given, and all the obstacles he has dealt with. He is a beast, and I'm very glad to have him as my QB.
