#3030899 post game whines...i mean excuses...i mean tweets

The things Rivera says after a press conference are the same things nearly every coach, great or poor typically say. It's pointless to get upset and judge a coach based on trivialities such as this.

#2834943 Manziel Not Impressing

From my understanding he's not hurting anybody, doing anything illegal, nor does it seem to get in the way of him working hard at his job. Who cares if he living it up? God know there are plenty of individuals in the major sports who are doing the same thing.

#2718228 Ron Rivera: Panthers may not need number 1 WR in 2014

Posted by MaineManPanther on 27 March 2014 - 10:22 AM

Did people read what he said? He said we didn't need a number one in the sense of a Calvin Johnson type player. He made the point that we need a collective group of good WR's.

Says Newton will probably be a HOF Qb. Where is the diss?

#2700567 Cotchery to Visit Monday!

Posted by MaineManPanther on 16 March 2014 - 01:06 PM

Per PFF:

Jerricho Cotchery, WR
2013 Grade: +10.3
Summary: Perennially undervalued, and now on the wrong side of 30, Cotchery is unlikely to command too hefty an asking price this offseason. That’s fantastic news for whoever picks him up, because his career body of work suggests he should have earned a lot more throughout his career. Sporting a pair of reasonably safe hands, Cotchery dropped four of the 50 catchable passes thrown his way in 2013, good for a Drop Rate of 8.00 which was 44th amongst the 94 receivers with enough qualifying snaps. More importantly, he’s a valuable red zone threat, particularly from the slot where he pulled in six of his 10 touchdowns in 2013.
Good Fit: Pittsburgh, Carolina, Denver

#2698631 Roman Harper Signs with the Panthers

Posted by MaineManPanther on 15 March 2014 - 05:08 PM

I wish people stop with the front 7 mask everything excuse. On January 12th where was our front seven to stop the 49ers from coming in and marching their asses up and down the field? What you think what happened last year will happen again in the season, get the playoffs and just this time things will be 100% different?

I don't think people here are assuming our secondary is fixed and/or good talent is unnecessary because of our front seven. But when you are as cap strapped as we are you shouldn't spend too much money on positions that can be fairly compensated by a big team strength such as our front seven.

Anybody using PFF as a argument needs to realize that Mitchell came into Carolina with three consecutive years of a negative PFF rating. Suddenly he becomes good in coverage playing on a great front seven and defensive mind? That's not a coincidence.

#2696533 Thomas Davis not pleased with Carolina not signing Nicks

Posted by MaineManPanther on 14 March 2014 - 09:29 PM

Thomas Davis was disappointed we didn't sign Nicks. That's it, there's nothing more to take or expand from or to. It happens.

#2693823 Don't blame Gettleman for the trouble we're facing now

Posted by MaineManPanther on 14 March 2014 - 12:25 AM

Still doesn't explain why Gettledouche had to be a total asshole to Smitty and not upfront and honest. Doesn't explain why players all of a sudden have the urge to 'retire', and those FA's we had run like hell to other teams. Doesn't explain that Cam will have nobody to throw to next fall, and nobody to block for him either.

All the black and blue sunshine pumpers around here want to treat Gettledouche like Obama, and not hold him responsible for anything whatsoever.

Next fall is six months of FA away and we have the draft. How can you possibly think you have the foresight to state as a fact the offense will have no improvements? What are basing of that our FA's ran like hell? There have been zero reports of them ( other then smith ) having ill will.

#2693757 Blind loyalty is running thin.

Posted by MaineManPanther on 13 March 2014 - 11:51 PM

Last year was last year. G-man was the new kid on the block, selling dreams to "outcasts" of the league who were willing to give him the old college try. It was magic. Gettlemagic. Well, like some of us have tried to tell others: The league is looking and watching now. Don't be naive. Guys with a little bit of game this year may not fall for the smooth talking anecdotes, proverbs and promises from good ol' grandpa-like Getty this year. They've seen that act. Add in the Smitty debacle and you never know what guys are thinking and how it's affecting the perception of the franchise.

Now I am not saying that this is the case (at least for everyone looking in), but what we may have here is the chickens coming home to roost.

I don't understand what act, what dream was he selling? What smooth talking specifically are you talking about? Gettlemen believed these " outcast" were talented and gave them a chance to prove it. They did and now some of them are receiving far better money and opportunities then they would have had our GM not recognized their talent. I don't see how this wouldn't be appealing for player who are in similar positions this year

#2692441 Munnerlyn to Vikings- 3 year deal

Posted by MaineManPanther on 13 March 2014 - 05:45 PM

You guys can't advocate for signing the likes of Nicks and Collins and then be upset we didn't sign Captain and/or Mitchell for 5 million. We are already cap strapped you really want to make it worse by paying 5 million a year to Captain and further hurting our chances with a FA WR or LT?

#2692401 Huddle opinion....who agrees with the complete overhaul we are seeing

Posted by MaineManPanther on 13 March 2014 - 05:36 PM

Cheap? We offered Nicks a top 15 salary for his position and we offered LT Collins a comparable contract to the lucrative one he signed with the Bucs. We also franchised Greg Hardy for 13 million.

#2691919 Nicks visiting the Colts tonight

Posted by MaineManPanther on 13 March 2014 - 04:37 PM

And he's certainly shown that by ensuring we have talented guys on the OL.

Wait... what?

We are cap strapped, it's less then three days into FA, and the draft is looming. No reason to judge this early.

#2652849 Incognito rants on Twitter...

Posted by MaineManPanther on 13 February 2014 - 07:30 PM

If his side of the story turns out to be true then how can anyone be critical of his reaction?
If somebody ruined my name, my reputation, made me lose my job and potentially future job opportunities , and caused me to be criticized and judged by tens of millions of individuals for something a friend made up or misconstrued then I dare say I would be completely justified if blowing off some steam wether that would be in tweets or private.

#2648925 Breakdown of Hardy's play in 2013

Posted by MaineManPanther on 10 February 2014 - 12:22 PM

Using solely sacks to judge a player is pretty inaccurate. I mean your essentially using 15 plays to judge a player who performed hundreds of snaps.
