#2993785 Carolina is allowing 5.7 yards per rush...let's put that into historical...

This Chicago game will determine the entire season. If we come out flat and lose again, and lose so bad that DA plays the 4th qtr again then I am not kidding, Tank for the 1st pick and Rivera and the coaching staff has to go. Because it will be crystal clear that the players have quit on Rivera for reasons unknown, im sorry but if we get blown out three weeks in a row, thats players quitting on the coaches pure and simple.

If we bounce back and win, no doubt we have a winning season and possibly make the playoffs. This is truely a must win. We are at home, back in our element in a 1:00 PM game, with no silly distractions or story line. If we lose im fully convinced we go 2-14 or 3-13

so by your standards we should have tanked after starting 1-3 last yr.

Next game is important but it is still early.

#2989972 Top 4 reasons for current losing streak

You can't blame Shula for being Shula. The team knew going into the season he wasn't all that creative or able to out coach his opponent. What he can do is provide a steady, efficient, clock eating offense if his players are executing properly. The players are currently failing him.

As an OC you must be able to adapt your playcalling, style, and philosophy.

That is on him.

#2989968 Top 4 reasons for current losing streak

Well,

1) OL is just God freaking awful. On run locking and pass blocking.

Solution - Go to a quick 3 step drop passing attack with mostly short routes. Even the crappiest of OLmen can cover for 3 seconds (generally).

2) Defense - This is largely attributed to the DL. They are getting man handled at the point of attack. Also been an issue with gap assignment. Even Luke has been losing gap control / assignment. This is in turn affecting the secondary (especially the S's). Our DB's are simply not good enough to cover for any significant amount of time.

Solution - Start Short. Go over the basics of gap control. Light a fire under their a$$. I think the D will get things turned around. If we have another 2 games of this then I will go from this is a blimp to this is the norm. At present I will give the D and RR the benefit of the doubt.

3) O Playcalling / Shula - He is not adapting to the circumstances. Still continues to run the ball right up the gut. Still has way to many long developing routes. Still not enough check downs for Cam.

Solution - He needs to completely re-tool his offensive philosophy to better suit are weakness and advantages. Of which I highlighted earlier.

4) Injuries / Suspensions / Players MIA - Guys like Davis,DW, and Cam need to get healthy. Hardy needs to come back from suspension. CJ needs to show up in a bloody game. He has went completely ghost.

Solution - Fug IDK

Henderson AND Hurst late. Or Tiny Richardson.

#2982745 First Half Thoughts

Posted by MedellinHeel on 28 September 2014 - 01:31 PM

- OL is atrocious

- Cam is a shell of himself running / escaping

- D is getting ass raped

- Poor play calling on both sides of the ball

- RBs have no patience or vision

Amazed we are playing this poorly for a 2nd straight week, especially on D.

Afraid this game is over with.

RR and company better regroup and right the ship. Season appears to be going down the tubes.

I see your love of Cam but do you have any proof to support?

You can't just say it. Eli and Ben won a lot games including SB when they are under the center. I'm not saying its Cams fault but hey he's not that good yet, at least not now.

Not to mention Ben being rated higher than Cam in QB stats to go along with the superbowls.

Homers

With that said, id still take Cam over Ben. More upside

.

#2975902 Kawann Short may be our best defensive lineman

Posted by MedellinHeel on 24 September 2014 - 07:54 AM

I think our DT's are beasts too, I'm curious as to why Pittsburgh had so much success running on us.

I'm sure some of it was Bell's wait and slash style, but there seemed to be large holes in our D line a lot.

Was it the D line getting pushed around or the LB'ers not filling those holes?  Or both?

Bell is a damn good RB but he still should have not been able to run mad on us.

We had some serious gap control issues.

I did not think it was humanely possible to run the ball down our throat with Star and Luke manning the middle.

Hard to run when your OL sucks ass. We need to pass

#2974510 How long is the Huddle gonna defend Shula?

Posted by MedellinHeel on 23 September 2014 - 07:49 AM

I 100% agree that Cam has been solid....but he has made his share of mistakes. My point was that the offenses performance is not just Shula on Shula like some want to claim.

I dont think there's anyone on the huddle that thinks Shula is solely to blame for our mess of an offense.

What people (I) am saying is

Shula is not a good, great, or elite OC.

He does us no favors with the pieces that we have.

At absolute best he is an average playcaller.

Cam is one of the most dynamic QB's in the game.

By default since Shula is not a great OC he needs to be replaced / upgraded.

Lol at the excuses.

It's the elite coaches who do more with less and can adapt their game plan and scheme around what they have.

We should be a completely quick pass short drop pass to set up the run team.

We seriously struggle to score more than 21 points a game. Half the time against good D's we struggle to even score more than 14.

Which is really alarming due to having one of the best D's in the game. Our O gets more opportunities due to stout defense and take always.

If Shula doesn't turn this around by the end of the season he needs to be replaced with a proven play caller.

in b4 the "TOP comments".

Our offense needs to step the fug up, mediocre bullpoo isn't gonna cut it.

Sula is our OC what you expect?

#2959869 Panther Defense PFF Stats After 2 Weeks

CJ does the dirty work that goes unnoticed. I'll say it again, CJ is the cornerstone of our DLine. Huge in the run game.

Stats are good at times, but this is a clear example why you shouldn't trust a dumb computer telling who's a good player and not.

CJ's run D has not been good through 2 weeks.

The o-line is good in pass block except for Chandler. Their runblocking is bad, but that will improve. They need to gel together.

Bad is an understatement.

Every run attempt gets stoned at the LOS or dropped in the backfield.

Short is a freaking beast in pass rush. Was easily the best pass rushing DT when he came out. Smh at the GM's that let him slip to the 2nd round. Thank you!

No surprise Luke is number 1. Dude is unreal.
