#3007789 Are We Headed for a Fire Sale?

Posted by TheNewStandard on 09 October 2014 - 07:00 PM

What did you think the dumping of all those contracts was? If that wasn't a fire sale I don't know what is

We sure as poo had a dumpster with the WR corp. phase 1 complete.

Any early thoughts on how the draft position wise will look next season besides BPA?

I'm thinking

Round 1 OL
Round 2 LB
Round 3 WR/KR
Round 4 DB
Round 5 OL
Round 6 RB
Round 7 DB

The part that bugs me is that we're going to have to spend some high draft picks to keep our defense strong, and our offense will keep ailing because of it. We will need DEs for sure, and we'll also need an LB and S and maybe a CB or two.

I think we can continue to plug n play cheap and savvy vets in our secondary as long as we can keep our front 7 mostly intact. CJ is getting replaced, no doubt...regardless of the cap hit. Rotating Dwan, Star, Short and Cole on the interior and returning FAlex, hopefully the Kraken and the progression of Ealy should shore up the DL for years if they can stay on the field.

adding a young fast OLB to replace TD is a lot easier to do than replacing an all-pro top 5 DE that's balanced in both pass and rush...all while being "our guy born and bred."

Watt is a friggin uber-dork. Gosh I hate that dance commercial with the David Carr gloves. Oh my if I only had a disintegration ray gun and a never ending supply of disposable TVs.

Full strength my butt.

A win is a win is a win. I don't care if it's against their practice squad.

I want a win dammit

Sanu is gonna give it to us.

Sanu is dangerous, no doubt. Gonna have to hope press coverage can slow him down enough to give our pass rush a chance to limit their 3rd down conversion%.

Hardy is a beast and our defense sucks without him

Imagine if Kraken had gone to Baltimore.

Breaking Madden is one of the best things ever.

Here's the finale from last season. It's incredible.

I nearly peed after seeing the abomination fetus at the very end.

kraken more than likely won't wear a panthers jersey ever again. not much of a bird in the hand. more like just a big moth.

I think he suits up after sitting out six games.

In retrospect, it's easy to say let Hardy walk but where is that all pro LT that possibly could have been brought in? You won't find one.

With or without Hardy, we weren't going to do much improving on the OL, and looking at where the D is currently, we'd be screaming for the Kraken.

We all wanted James Hurst. Can't believe we didn't draft him.

Anyway. Thrilled with the Benjamin pick and he could be the sole-saving grace that keeps Cam in a Panthers uniform.

The line will just have to gel and Cam is still on the mend, so it could still work out once all things get up to speed.

Kraken is the most dynamic player on our defense. When he returns this team will be much better. Hard to weigh which player is more valuable between a top-3 DE and a pro bowl-caliber LT. Bird in hand has my vote.

#2966148 No Huddle Offense

Posted by TheNewStandard on 20 September 2014 - 07:36 PM

I really like the get-up and go offense. Our defense is high-energy and gets stronger as the game rolls on. They want to be out there making plays and relish their sets.

I say let Cam roll, Benji and Olsen dominate and Stewart and Tolbert going bowling up the middle. Offense needs to stay crisp and getting mired in the trenches is worse on our O then not is on our truly conditioned elite defense.

#2966145 Gotta love that this guy is on our team

Posted by TheNewStandard on 20 September 2014 - 07:31 PM

Imagine TD's career without all the injuries. He is still ferocious at the point of attack and looks to have not lost a step.

Love watching the guy do interviews and his energy on the field is contagious. Always the first to congratulate teammates on good plays. He flies around the field.

We've glad some good ones here and none much better than TD. Enjoy the times present and ahead. Who cares what the national media thinks...we know what we've got here. Gonna be a fun season for sure.

Just hope that Hardy can get back on the field for the home stretch to the playoffs so we won't have to ask what could have been.
