#2753678 Going out on a limb: The NFL Draft

Posted by TheNewStandard on 27 April 2014 - 07:46 PM

We don't draft any of the players we worked out

#2752481 Panthers Draft Prospect Visits

Posted by TheNewStandard on 26 April 2014 - 12:28 PM

The guys I'm surprised that haven't visited are Jack Mewhorr, Bitonio, James Hurst, WR Benjamin and the two big corners that wowed at the combine. Not seeing those names could be smokescreen.

Which RB is going to have more rushing yards in the 2014 season?

Stewart or Williams?

If Stewart is healthy, he could have his best season. So I'm gonna say Stew with 1400 yards.

I like Deangelo out of the backfield for all-purpose yards.

IMO, we have the best ground game in the league and if we can put together a solid line, our defense and rush attack should enable the Panthers to control most games.

#2722358 DNewton from ESPN thinks Panthers wants Godfrey back

Posted by TheNewStandard on 31 March 2014 - 01:52 PM

The list for players who have fully recovered from Achilles tears has to be short...especially at speed positions like DB. Not sure we can expect much out I Godfrey moving forward and that current pricetag is tough to swallow for a cap-strapped team.

I hope he recovers 100%, for a myriad or reasons, but that contract is no good, regardless of his recovery.

You're officially a fuging moron for not understanding the informal, most used, definition of the word dumb. You're a super fuging moron for not realizing words have multiple definitions depending on context. And you're exquisitely fuging moronic for fuging up with the whole dimwitted pro bowler comment only to have it bite you in the ass, and still not acknowledge it.

This must be what butthurt looks like on the Internet, full-tard

Ps I asked a question about the pb, and not a comment. Bwahahahaha

The rest of the division really didn't get that much better.

Srsly...wtf are these guys? It's like just because a team overpays for an early signing FA, that guy becomes a household name and pro bowler...speaking of PBs...have any of those guys ever made a pro bowl?

...and pimping Travelle Wharton...a product of playing between Kalil and Gross...I mean come on.

If we had overpayed for Big Hair and crotch, we'd prolly be the off-season's biggest mover and shaker.

The league's 52nd tackle...hmmm, well, there are 64 starting tackles in the league and many of the 51 who were ranked higher than him only played a couple games and got rankings boosts despite limited PT and it's anyone's guess who these guys played against. Regardless, the LT position doesn't go up against LEs, who are a vastly more talented group of pass rushers compared to the REs in the league, it's just a glamorized position because it guards right-handed QBs blind-sides.

Crappy article and sour grapes for sure.

#2718318 Ron Rivera: Panthers may not need number 1 WR in 2014

Posted by TheNewStandard on 27 March 2014 - 12:02 PM

Shiny new toys or I'll cut myself and beat up my care bear!!

Trade away everything we have so we can be like Payton manning and choke every year 'cause we don't have a an elite player at every position on the roster!

This team sucks! The FO is full-tard! I know how to fix the cap problems...sign more high-priced free agents an get rid of our highly coveted players so we can get more high prices free agents so Cam will stay 'cause 12-4 was just lucky even though we had so many scrubs and the hardest schedule in the league.

Cut myself and bang my head against the wall and rip my care bets arms out!!! Noooooooo!!!!

#2718105 Ron Rivera: Panthers may not need number 1 WR in 2014

Posted by TheNewStandard on 27 March 2014 - 09:00 AM

Bunch of crybabies...unbelievable.

Will one of you please name this elusive, yet available "save the franchise, Offense and keep Cam here, #1 receiver."

We haven't had a True #1 receiver since we'vd heard Smitty saying he wanted a #1 to come in here to take some pressure off of him.

The "#1 receiver" you are talking about is a cap-crippling unicorn like Megatron or Jerry Rice...in our offense it's nothing more than a potential roster spot to add to our other two or three WRs already on the field.

How many true #1 receivers are in this draft?

How many of them will be available at #28?

Rivera said there's a possibility of fillingWR need through this WR deep draft. WTF more do you want or expect?

Go find a bridge, u bunch of Sally's. Give me a friggin' break.

#2717315 unions coming to college ball

Posted by TheNewStandard on 26 March 2014 - 03:45 PM

how does unionizing help the 90 percent of players that are never going to get paid to play ball?

Unions make a singular, organized entity out of many people in which demands can be made that will benefit the entire union entity.

Many of these players develop injuries that have far-reaching effects throughout their life. One benefit could be setting up a trust fund to help pay for health insurance and even worker's comp that will extend beyond a player's stay in school.

Bye-bye NCAA!

What a mess this is going to turn into. But players should be compensated fairly for their labor, because few have the ability to make it to the pros and many of these student-athletes will have nothing to show for their college experience besides some great memories and a ton of health problems later in life, meanwhile, the fat-cats are getting fatter and set for life.

#2717204 Gettleman believes reaching a long term deal with Hardy is more likely now

Posted by TheNewStandard on 26 March 2014 - 02:22 PM

What does not make sense is this:

Gettlemen is a slow player. That is how he gets the best price. He did it with Munnerlyn last year, Edwards, Mikel, etc While I am sure Cam is on board with it and understands his position, he is doing it with Cam.

Right now, Hardy's stock has never been higher. Gettlemen knows that if Hardy has a 16-sack, 78 tackle season in 2014, his price is not going much higher. However, if his numbers drop, he could get him for much less.

Now include Cam's contract and CJ's contract status. If Hardy gets 10 sacks and 46 tackles, he cannot ask for elite money. Hardy's price drops to that of players in that range, which is about $8-10 million. CJ has less guaranteed money and could be cut, but he could take a cut or restructure, allowing us to keep both. If we pay Hardy top dollar now and he bombs in 2013 with 7 sacks, for example, we are locked into possibly having to cut our best DE (CJ) to make the room we need to sign Cam. On the other hand, if Hardy has 17 sacks, we could re-sign him because he is a proven blind-side rusher, cut or trade CJ, and draft a stud LDE. Signing Hardy long-term right now gives us security that he will be a Panther long term, but eliminates options.

I understand that $13 million is a lot, but hardy is asking for money in that range anyway. 16 more games will give us a better indication of what we have-if the 15-sack season was a fluke or not.

Some here will get upset over this opinion, but if you were the GM, you would make the safe plays and I do not see giving him a top-dollar, long-term contract after 1 elite season as the safe play.

Hardy had 13 sacks in 2012, in 200 fewer total snaps played.

I don't know why anyone in their right mind would think he is a one-year wonder. Short-term memory I guess?

#2711093 DeSean Jackson just posted a pic of him and Cam on Instagram

Just saw a cloud that looked like Jesus. Is it a sign?

Only if it was the little tiny, 7 pounds 6 ounces, Baby Jesus (in my best Ricky Bobby voice.)

Grrbeck must be a dook fan that hasn't gotten any poonanny in a while, if ever...either that or that kid in the Smitty-viral video. "I don't want a favwit team!!! I hat da Panfers!!"

#2711022 Yeah! Finally making some waves...

Posted by TheNewStandard on 21 March 2014 - 05:29 PM

Smitty was a borderline #2 receiver playing the #1 position. Therefore, you can't truly say that we had a #1 last year, unless you were talking about Greg Olsen and we went 12-4. Well, we still have Olsen and still don't have a #1, so we're pretty much in the same boat minus Gross.

All the other jibber-jabber is a bunch if jive-arsed hate raid from a bunch of cluckers, suckers.
