Some of you may have already seen this cause it posted it to my FB. I really like the concept of this scale. I'm buying one, its only $25 and the other scales like it are $100+. If you want I'll give you my review on it after I have used it for a while. I'm going to test it's accuracy with some weights. I really hope it works out.

Grilled Mahi-Mahi

4 skinless mahi-mahi fillets, approximately 2 pounds

2 teaspoons kosher salt

1/2 cup diced sweet onion

1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice

1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

1 tablespoon minced jalapeno

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup tequila(opt)

1/4 cup olive oil

1/4 cup freshly chopped cilantro leaves (reserve a bit for topping)

Rub the fillets with kosher salt and put in a ziplock. In a food processor, combine the onion, lime juice, oil, orange juice, jalapeno, cilantro, sugar and tequila, blend, pour marinade in the ziplock with the fish. Marinate for no longer than 1 hr, remove the fillets from the marinade and set it aside.

Heat a grill to high, oil the grill and place the fillets over direct heat until they are just cooked through - opaque at the center but still moist, approximately 3 to 4 minutes per side. While the fish is grilling, transfer the reserved marinade to a saucepan and heat until it is reduced to about 3/4 cup. Using tongs, remove the fillets to serving plates and divide sauce equally among them. Top with the reserved cilantro.

#2292306 Autistic Kids

Posted by LifeisaGarden on 19 July 2013 - 05:45 AM

The school my daughter goes to is a private specialized school for kids with learning differences. Most who go there are dyslexic like my girl, but there are also high functioning autistic children who attend.  They are amazing little creatures!

One boy, is 12 same age as my daughter, we call him garmin cause he is a walking, talking, real life GPS. When we go on field trips we fuss over who gets to take him in the car so we don't get lost, he is amazing to listen and watch. lol

Another boy same age, could put the history guy on pawn stars out of a job, he knows his world history better than google. Sometimes I google questions to ask him and he gets them right every single time. When he sees me, he asks me if I have questions for him.

I could go on and on with the stories.

#2291129 Smoking...

Posted by LifeisaGarden on 18 July 2013 - 05:23 AM

Quit being a puss and just quit already. I quit cold turkey 7 years ago. Every time I wanted a cigarette, I tried to rage in a positive way, not always successful I might add. It was mostly through exercise, I really didn't want a cigarette after barreling down the street as fast as I could, or doing sit-ups until I couldn't muster another one. I looked at diseased lungs online and people who had holes in their throats. I imagined what life would be like if i were in that position.

This is my opinion and I'm sure others will disagree and that's fine.. I think giving yourself nicotine while you're trying to quit smoking is comparable to giving a heroin addict prescribed doses of heroin and expecting him to quit heroin. Its possible that he might quit that way, but I highly doubt it. People say they cant quit without some kind of help, its not true, don't sell yourself short, don't give in to it, you are more powerful than some stupid, pathetic cigarette.
