#1571476 I love this team and they are heading in the right direction

Posted by Highlandfire on 18 December 2011 - 04:27 PM

Man today was a good game. Cam rebounded and was mentally strong today, God Bless him and this team.

Our needs personnel wise are becoming clearer, we will have a full offseason, a decent draft pick ( Top 10 maybe) and hopefully we are smart and address some needs smartly in Free agency. We are just an offseason or two away from contending for the division title and at least a WC spot.

Congrats on the win Men, keep fighting!

#1548912 I am pleasantly surprised by Newton

The reality was Dual threat College QB's don't make it in the NFL. Cam came in and told chud he wanted to be as good a QB as Philip Rivers is. The kid has really focused on trying to be a damn good thrower and it is paying off.

Sure he runs when he has to or its designed, you don't leave that talent chained up, but a QB in the NFL MUST try to throw first unless its a designed run and Cam is doing that. Over 3000 yards and over 61% completion rating, Wow. Hands down he is ROTY.

Lets just hope Hurney can find talent to not only go around him but for God's sake upgrade this Defense.

#1390900 OK WOW LMAO at Meril fucking Hodge and his hate...

Why does anyone care what the media has to say. It's both comical and pathetic fans get all jacked over the assclowns in the media.

I don't give a poo what they say, win or lose. If we are the best team in football and win 10x straight superbowls and slob our knobs daily, I still don't care. You guys really gotta stop worrying about that silly poo.

F**k Hurney. I can't express enough of my hatred for him. Instead of signing vet DTs, he's willing to tank this game to save a few bucks.

Jesus folks we won 2 fuging games last year, it takes more than ONE offseason to fix poo.

#1384129 Although its opening day, take a minute to remember....

10 years ago today our country was under attack. Take a minute to remember where you were, what you felt and all those lost. Remember all the lives effected.

And lastly remember....this is the United States of America!!! You can sucker punch us but we will ALWAYS Rise, we will always persevere, and we will always, ALWAYS put a boot in the asses of those that attack our freedoms and way of life!!!

God Bless America and God bless all of you my Panthers friends on this day.

I hate to be the voice of reason, but it is going to take a couple of offseasons to get anywhere near where we want to be personnel wise. Yeah we need some DT and CB help, but I applaud the front office for not going with knee jerk reactions to the situation.

You can bet DT and CB will be first order of business next offseason. Till then see if there are a couple bodies we can toss out there for 1 year deals and do the best we can.

#1362685 Pat Yasinskas "unleash Newton"

Posted by Highlandfire on 31 August 2011 - 06:02 PM

that espni article was good (unless you think that anything positive said about newton is nuthugging fluff).

i thought there was a god bit of truth to this...many peopl have criticized him as a passer. but then when you point out that he was one of the most efficient passers and that he was able to be among the most productive passers re: TDs and yardage despite having less throwing attempts , the critics will say that it was a result of him being a running threat and for some reason that meant that he wasn't a good QB and he could never be one. they also said that since there hasn't been a QB like him to succeed, that meant that he couldn't.

the truth is, there really hasn't been another cam newton which is what this article points out. with the offense making use of his strengths as a runner and if he can become even an average passing QB, he could be elite, esp. using TQBR.

btw...i agree with the comments the author made about taking snaps from the shotgun. no longer does it mean that real QBs take the majority of their snaps from under center. most of the top QBs last year took over 50% of their passing snaps from the shotgun. as the league becomes more of a pass heavy league, taking snaps from the shotgun is going to become much more prominent.

I am honestly tired of this 'he is the first Cam Newton' stuff. All he is, is a taller, bigger version of Vick period. And NFL players dont' give a damn, they will put his ass in a hospital just as fast as they would Vick or Rothlesburger.

To be a QUARTERBACK in the NFL you must learn to take your drops, deliver the ball on time and on target to your targets. Running no matter who you are is about the 4th or 5th option.

People say 'play to his strengths' well then put his ass at TE and let him play to his strengths, if he is going to be a QB then learn to be a QB. The NFL will NEVER change enough that these 'dual threat' guys will be the norm or overly successful, physics and bio-mechanics just says it isn't going to happen.

So if this kid wants to be an NFL QB then learn to read defenses and throw the ball. But hey 'let him loose' and lets see how long he survives in the NFL. I say he is on IR by week 12.

Posted by Highlandfire on 08 August 2011 - 10:13 AM

Considering we are probably one of the few teams with it's core players signed through 2014/2015 I have no problem with this.

Yeah so WTF is the issue. If JR doesn't spend he is a cheap ass. When he does and locks up good, youthful core talent at a good rate he is causing issues for the rest of the league.

We tied up guys that other teams would have paid JUST AS MUCH FOR, but JR is a dumbass for doing so?

fug the media, bunch of dip shits that never accomplished anything on any field or any arena trying to talk about how it should be done.

#1301927 LB Jon Beason says Panthers defense will be 'blitz-happy and aggressive'

Posted by Highlandfire on 01 August 2011 - 09:24 PM

Good article, but everything I expected. I have ALWAYS LOVED Jim Johnson's defenses and put them right on par with the Steelers and Ravens in terms of style and aggression.

What gets me is we have had the personnel to blitz well for years. I hated that ghey assed Tampon 2 Bull poo.

#1301921 Yas: Mixed reviews on Cam Newton's Debut

Posted by Highlandfire on 01 August 2011 - 09:22 PM

LOL at the comments. damn he has some haters out there. I hope he wins like 3 super bowls and a couple of MVPs just to shove all the hate back in these douchebag's faces.

Ok first off can we grow up and not say 'haters'? Unless you are still in HS, the term is immature as hell.

Second, the guy has a ton to overcome. Dual threat college QB's don't pan out 99% of the time in the NFL. Picking one first overall, normally, is a stupid thing to do. That said, I hope to God he does EXACTLY what you hope he will too.

ANY QB would love to win 3 superbowls. As for as MVP, meh that is the same as playing fantasy football to me unless he wins a superbowl as well.

But lets quit getting onto people that feel the guy has knocks on him, because right now until he bucks the trend of guys like him it is going to be this way. Its not a personal shot at him, its a legit concern from decades of guys like him not making it in the NFL and we did make him the #1 overall pick which is ALWAYS going to be under extreme scrutiny. So relax and lets see how the kid does over his career.

Oh and how did he have a debut? Funny I didn't think we played a regular season game yet ( a shot at the author of the article ) :D

#1297569 Are we becoming the 'Steelers' of the NFC?

Posted by Highlandfire on 31 July 2011 - 10:38 AM

Really a combination of the Chargers on offense and the Eagles on defense. The Carolina Chargles.

Yeah, plenty lame I admit, but it is still the offseason.:D

LMAO no now you are stuck with it the 'Chargles' is now yours

#1168404 Sal Paolantonio says you can't be a phony infront of Rivera

Posted by Highlandfire on 28 April 2011 - 06:54 AM

I am the firm believer you can't change the true character of a person, go read the story of the Scorpion and the Turtle. Cam was a thief and a cheat and even Mayock has issues believing this kid will try to be elite.

I don't like him, I don't like his lack of football intellegence, I don't like the system he was in, I don't like he couldn't beat out The Golden Calf of Bristol (and no he couldn't because he wasn't good enough. Myer would have put the best QB on the field). I don't like the fact he ran from Florida before getting booted etc.

He could be black, white, orange or purple with pink polkadots so that is a non issue. I don't want the kid as the face of this franchise and I feel a few years from now we will be right back where we are now with no Franchise QB.
