#1295212 Did Hurney do a good job in FA?

Posted by Brandon on 30 July 2011 - 07:33 AM

The important question is who would we have signed had they walked? What message does that send the team if we let some of the best players leave only to sign inferior replacements in the hopes of saving money?

These are not old vets with 2-3 useful years left, these are guys with 5-10 years left in the tank who are some of the better players in their positions.

From Scrooge to Daddy Warbucks in less than a week. Either way we is screwed.

This. As a bad team the media is going to criticize every decision we make regardless pf it's validity, simply because we went 2-14 last year. I'm not saying all moves were optimal but each player we resigned performed within or at the top of the top 10 players in their respective positions last year. With the new rookie pool and cap rules, vets are going to be paid more; these contracts are going to be in line with what you'll be seeing in 2-3 years.

What we need to realize is that Hurney is rewarding our good players, and setting up a league-wide opinion that the Panthers are an organization that is not afraid to pay for talent.

Get white for the irony.

#1289219 Why isn't Carolina targeting more WRs?

#1178555 I feel sorry for you

I saw a stat somewhere that said ESPN's coverage of the first draft day was down around 20% compared to last year. Now I can definitely see why. Mayock is so far ahead of McShay and Kiper it's not funny, plus his personality isn't nearly as grating as those two. Plus you get Rich Eisen who is the best of the whole lot.

LMAO I am sticking it to the Cam huggers on Buffalo's boards. I am posting the twitter updates and they are screaming its all BS, no way Carolina takes him blah blah blah.

I told them that Grape is the preferred flavor of Kool Aid for offing ones self when the pick is made :D

So you're basically being an ass to what has to be the most dedicated group of fans ever. Classy.

#1167526 The end of the NFL as we know it!

Posted by Brandon on 27 April 2011 - 07:52 PM

as an advocate of the free market, I'm glad that finally the special considerations that have impeded the natural flow of economics are finally being done away with.

Now the best players from college will be adequately rewarded for their performances. This will provide incentives for them to play better in college and improve the junior game. Law firms don't get to have drafts, why should the NFL?

Your analogy fails because law firms have few to no relation to sports franchises at all. A better analogy would be comparing the NFL and it's franchises to a major automaker such as GM or Ford. They different brands within the corporation work both against each other but also together in order to strengthen the corp. as a whole.

The argument that I don't understand by the players is that the NFL is creating a monopoly but there are multiple sporting leagues operating within the United States and competing against one another. Just because these players are more suited for the NFL does not mean they couldn't choose to go to another league entirely. It's like being upset at joining the Air Force to be a pilot because that's what your skill set is best suited to, then being grossly overpaid but still mad because Navy Seals make better bonuses than you do.

#1085297 The Cam Newton and Race Thread!

Posted by Brandon on 09 March 2011 - 06:34 PM

I dont think all whites are racist. I do think the team and fanbase have been biased overall but are showing growth and acceptance for change which is a good thing. I dont think everyone who didnt want Vick or Cam is racist. Just the ones who trash their character to rationalize their hate or play them as all the same are.

So you are saying that people who raise character concern issues about felons are racists? I'm not asking this to bait you, this is a sincere question.

You vehemently defended Michael Vick's character pre-dogfight scandal calling me and several other people racists, despite the fact that we were right all along about him. Interesting how that works.

#954852 Schefter reports Elway to Recruit Harbaugh to Denver

Posted by Brandon on 02 January 2011 - 11:51 AM

But what happens if Luck pulls a Eli Manning? We draft him, but he refuses to play if we dont trade him to Denver? Man i wih JR would do something and make sure this Kid wants to play here.

Everything I've heard about Luck would indicate a hold out such as that would be extremely unlikely.

KT is worse to black/nonblack relations than apartheid.

#900757 Troy Smith

Posted by Brandon on 01 December 2010 - 12:57 PM

Nothing straw man about the fact that the only time you make stupid comments like the one you made prior is when I praise a black QB. You're a black QB hater masquerading as partial.

I'm a black QB hater? Wanna put money on that. Say $10,000. I'm not joking either. Go back to ANY Troy Smith thread on the huddle and I more than likely posted in there, I've wanted him on the team for a long time. But I want him for the right reasons.

No matter how many Andrew Luck threads overflow in the NFL draft forum I'd never expect Brandon to tell those folks they're only doing it cuz he's white. Not in your DNA. People on this board can talk about a white QB all day til the cows come home and it wouldnt trigger an immature response from you.

You ONLY care about black QB's. You've said it yourself in the past. You my friend are a bigot, and accomplishing the exact opposite of what you're trying to achieve.

You see Luck as white. I see Luck as a human being. You see Smith as black. I see Smith as a human being. This is where you falter and people like me actually help overcome racism by not acknowledging race at all. This is why I've wanted you to quit posting for a long time.

Ever notice how you've never made a case for hispanic or asian coaches/quarterbacks?

Just another example of someone who only knows and has been exposed to one thing his whole life and when someone deviates from that he gets pissy and takes it personal.

I'm willing to bet that you've only really experienced black culture, while I've existed in many different cultures throughout my life. Wanna take a bet on this one as well? You forget, I'm not white.

And you still never answered my question on whether or not you would care about Troy if he wasn't black. The reason why you can't answer is because you would have to lie to say otherwise. You probably had a bad experience with a racist when you were younger, or you were raised by a bigoted family. Either way you overreact to anything involving race. Anyone who loves black people is all for equality and anyone who loves anything non-black is a racist. Of course it'll never change.

Oh and I absolutely love your "but I like Tom Brady too" comments because that's the equivalent of a white guy going "but I have a black friend".

#886616 How many times does Godfrey have to get beat

Posted by Brandon on 22 November 2010 - 06:00 PM

Marshall is the problem, not Godfrey. Godfrey only really gets beat in 4-3 packages when Marshall is in there. When Munnerlyn is out wide he almost never gets beat. I don't know if it's a communication or chemistry issue, but the blame isn't on Godfrey.

#859608 Terrible QB play: Personel or Coaching?

Posted by Brandon on 08 November 2010 - 01:58 AM

Until we get better coaching we have no clue how good these guys are. Bad playcalling and poor preparation can make ANY NFL QB look worse than they are.

#777950 Was at the game yesterday, noticed a change taking place

Posted by Brandon on 27 September 2010 - 02:35 PM

eh, I disagree. Some good natured smack talk is all fine and good....but I am not a fan of trying to ruin an experience for someone else.

We should discourage opposing fans from just buying up tickets to the game though. It's bad enough so many people around here don't pull for the Panthers.
