I am cool with it creating outs, but not outright banning an individual from doing something.

You can't "ban" someone from doing something contractually. All you can do is create consequences for it within the framework of that contract. It's not like the Panthers could have the law show up and arrest him for riding a four wheeler because he's not allowed to in the contract. LOL

Good to hear.  I have lost faith in a lot of things lately as bad as things have gotten and deemed it a plausible thing.

I am interested in what the supposed penalty would be for a prohibited activity.

They are banned from betting, but I know that is not relevant to this conversation.

Doesn't make it right.  And as you put it, you wanted to ban him from being country, which is essentially policing who he is as a person lol

I get protecting the "asset", but banning people from living their life is crazy.

Russell Wilson likes to play helicopter pilot.  I would deem that WAY more dangerous.  Those things scare me.  I still wouldn't want to keep him from doing it if I were his boss.  I would just try not to think about it, haha.

Guaranteed money has to be protected. If there were no guarantees with pay I doubt the owners care what players do as long as it's legal.

It's just the reality of the business in the nfl.

right?  they have a choice to to choose to make absurd money playing a game.

a team has the right to protect themselves if the highly paid athletes like to dabble in say motocross in the offseason and to discourage that type activity.

I mean, Mahomes can still go play pickup ball all offseason.   He doesn't go to jail or get cut.  But if he gets hurt.....it impacts his money.   So he is discouraged from doing it....which IMO makes total sense.

XL is basically a bona fide country kid with money.  That means ATVs, horses, and all sorts of fun.   I think the Panthers should discourage his risky fun.....just like with anyone else.  ATV accidents happen all the time.  You know why XL was so eager to help and was helpful? Because is clearly an ATV guy.  Our hero didn't stumble across some stranger stuck.  They were messing around as country folks do.

I have no problem with placing the risk with the player.  Should be his choice to make though.  He's a life long country boy, he should know what he is getting himself into.

None of us want to see him get injured.

I am surprised we haven't heard more about Russell Wilson and his helicoptering, but maybe he has chilled out since Kobe's tragic incident.  I probably wouldn't hear about it anyway, as I just stick to Panthers stuff.
