#3315484 RUMOR: Panthers looking to move up to 16-20th pick

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 08 April 2015 - 09:01 AM

He has no clue what he's talking about. The fact that he's scared of the Giants and Texans shows that clearly.

He's one of these 'I hate Gettleman because he dumped Steve Smith' yahoos that nobody even pays much attention to anymore.

I'm sure if we win the Super Bowl he'll still come in and say it wasn't good enough

Remember that rant he went on a few weeks ago about how gettleman screwed the pooch and we wouldn't be getting any comp picks because we signed too many crap UFAs.

Then boom two 5ths

#3313037 The ACA has saved over 50,000 lives since it was unleashed to destroy America

Why is it naive? Because you pointed out the exception to the rule? That's not naive. There are no black and whites, no 'for sures'.

My friend's grandpa smoked a pack a day until he died at almost 110 years old. Is it naive of me to think if I don't smoke I won't get lung cancer? It may be naive to say it would be impossible, but very far from it to say it will be much less likely. Barring genetics, many people love into their 40s without spending a dime on healthcare.

In fact I'd be curious to know how many illnesses and cancers, and their prevalence, and the amount money put into their treatments are almost 100% preventable by good choices and how much they cause illnesses. I'm sure the numbers would be astounding. How many lung cancer patients never smoked or were around smoke vs. how many did smoke? That's what I'm referring too. How many patients with heart disease below the age of 50 have good eating/stress coping habits?

I'd be willing to bet very very few. Lymphoma, I don't not think is a poor choice condition, therefore it is an anomaly, and your friend was right in the fact he didn't need insurance due to his CHOICES. And because he has a healthy lifestyle his treatment will be less expensive and go much better. In fact, he may have not even gotten to 25. Exercise and especially diet are found to be linked and contribute to so many things now days from mental illnesses to conditions people one thought were strictly genetics, lick of the draw type issues.

Having a mindset like yours is dangerous to anyone who wishes to prevent illnesses. Eating healthy and exercise doesn't make you immortal and no one thinks that. Genetics play a role. So do other things like climate and culture you live in. What eating healthy and exercise does do for you well, go ask any doctor in the world to give you a 3 day lecture.

Also, even when genetics fail you, a way to help counteract it is with a good diet and exercise. Cancer patients, and those with other illnesses are highly advises to do those two things to heal faster, live longer and more lively. These two things, if everyone would do them would benefit mankind a billion times per what any stupid government health plan would do. Then all the money put into people who made poor choices could be put into cures for more important things...such as your friend's lymphoma or Mav's condition.

I understand Mav, and I have no problem supporting your condition. I have no problem supporting children who are not to blame for their parents bad choices. My problem is supporting people's bad choices. That's where the majority of the ACA is going. People want their freedom though and it's hypocritical....because I don't have the freedom to pay ACA, while other can order whatever and however much they want at McDonald's, buy as much crap and soda as their hearts desire, freedoms to buy as many cogarettes they wish and do whatever they want, but I don't have the freedom to not foot their bill, like you never had the freedom of not having to deal with autoimmune disease...thus you should be just as upset.

It's twisted.

everything else you said up to this point i agree with and it in no way invalidates what i was getting at.  in a lot of ways i have the exact same mindset as you and when i quit living off fast food and malt liquor in my mid 20s my quality of life vastly improved.  i'm not saying it's not worth trying or that poo's going to happen so live it up.  that's stupid as hell.

the point is it can happen to you.  there are things you can do to reduce your risk but you're going to be left holding the bag in a big way if you don't have insurance.  my first big reality check actually happened years ago when a 22 year old friend of mine, a young healthy female, was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive sarcoma and was dead within a year.  what's going on with my pal is just further confirmation of what i learned then.

this leads into another one of my points-i keep seeing a lot of complaints about "having to foot the bill for other peoples' treatment" and similar rhetoric.  people who "didn't need insurance" skipping out on their $40,000 hospital bill isn't a cost that vanishes into thin air: http://thehill.com/p...l-bills-in-2013.  the burden of handling that is built into healthcare costs right this second.

that said the ACA is flawed as hell but i think the battle is long lost.  the massive lobbying power and consolidation of influence wielded by the health insurance industry has sealed our fate and i don't think we'll see a massive top-down reinvention of the US healthcare system within our lifetimes.

one of my gym rat college friends just got diagnosed with lymphoma at 25

"i don't need insurance because i pound my bro split at the gym and don't eat at mcdonalds" is a hilariously naive attitude

#3311061 Female Ref.... good thing or PR Move?

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 03 April 2015 - 01:46 PM

the football ramifications are going to be almost nothing.  a ref is a ref.

this is america though and something is happening that vaguely challenges gender norms so stay away from comment sections on news sites

#3310117 Five teams that won't return to the playoffs

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 02 April 2015 - 02:00 PM

Well the falcons should be better than last year considering they have a top pick and signed some new players but I find predictions useless, especially in the offseason.

Btw I feel plenty of people on here know and are better at predictions than a lot of sports writers. Maybe you should look into writing articles if you feel you can do better. After all there are horrible articles and writers getting paid every day. Maybe they get paid because who they know or their credentials but it's not because of their work.

I could live with it if the author had expanded on his point. It's really the lack of effort that rubs me the wrong way. As if he's just going 'I mean come on the falcons are going to be better' and leaving it at that. Well, why?

The Falcons are also bound to be better, making Carolina an outlier for the playoffs.

#3307683 Panthers Sign LB Jason Trusnik To A One-Year Deal

Posted by I Mean He Was Found Guilty on 31 March 2015 - 07:45 PM

miami fans on pft sound awfully familiar:

DUMB & DUMBER AT IT AGAIN!!! Letting another great player walk!!! I swear that Ross & Philbin are trying to make a loser here in Miami & maybe that IDIOT Ross is trying to bring attendance down to move the team to L.A???

As a Dolphins fan I am NOT happy that now Miami’s special teams has lost one of the best special teams captains there are. I’d love to know who Philbin has in mind to replace him! You got a good one, Panthers!

Great player!! As a Dolphin’s fan, I will miss him. He was a fan favorite and did well when he had to fill in for those overpaid garbage LBs Ellerbe and Wheeler.. Wish him the best of luck.

I prefer to be the benevolent mod that lets people dig their own graves after warnings.

Hell the guy just got banned by the MFCEO himself in the "come here to get banned" thread.

Fine by me.

they always pull the "hehheh what are you going to do tough guy ban me?" bit

then something like this happens:
