#2074922 Cam Newton: Best First Two Seasons Ever

Posted by CRA on 03 January 2013 - 12:26 PM

Are you out of your fuging mind?

I wouldn't want Newton on my team, period. He is a juvenile diva (and a thief) with a ten cent brain. We've already been through that in Atlanta. Fun to watch? Sure. Dependable? Not a chance.

Eventually, you guys will learn the same lessons. Some of you already have.

It is pretty well documented that Cam is one of the hardest workers there is.....and he has never missed a game despite being one of the most punished QBs in the game. Seems pretty dependable to me. In addition he is pretty boring off the field.....while Michael Turner is getting DUI's, Cam is sober playing a video game.

So you talk a lot....but the facts just aren't there to support your jibberish.

#2072336 Mike Wallace

I think we could have Jared Cook for a much more reasonable price than Wallace. Plus, a second good TE would vault our offense every bit as much as another receiver IMO.

Smitty is getting too old to keep thinking he can stay reliable. Health wise and productivity wise. It is a vertical passing/big play offense.

I agree on needing another TE though. We have been playing with fire far too long at WR.

#2072018 Dwayne Bowe?

Posted by CRA on 01 January 2013 - 03:53 PM

Seriously, start naming big-time WRs who aren't egotistical, borderline nut-jobs, divas, entitled, self-aggrandizing and arrogant.

The Ricky Proehls you all are looking for are the exception, not the rule.

Calvin Johnson
Andre Johnson
Larry Fitzgerald
(Top 3 in the game the last few years)
AJ Green - the new top 3 guy
Wes Welker - 100 rec per year in his sleep
Reggie Wayne - ahead of 89 all time yards/TD
Greg Jennings

The Steve Smith diva type is going away. You look at those guys above....more good guys than divas in today's NFL. Smitty is a diva type. Not a look at me diva but the entire team has to handle the guy with gloves and be in constant watch

#2070561 Reasons Why Rivera Is Out (But Hasn't Been Let Go Yet)

Posted by CRA on 31 December 2012 - 02:55 PM

JRR wants to wait until all other half dozen teams looking for a HC hire the coaches they want....then he will have no compeition.

#2070488 Darin Gantt brings up the idea of Ken Whisenhunt to the Panthers

Posted by CRA on 31 December 2012 - 02:17 PM

How is Whis not a upgrade? He has tons of HC experience and went to the SB recently

an upgrade potential as a HC in terms of game management. He can't do what Rivera did with out D.

Biggest factor is we need to be consistant around Cam. That alone probably is worth not doing anything this year with our coaches. Cam stability in the short term likely pays bigger gains for us big picture.

#2070329 Luck, Griffin, Wilson, Kaepernick, Ponder, Dalton, Fox. All in playoffs.

Posted by CRA on 31 December 2012 - 12:57 PM

luck's stats weren't as impressive as Cam's last year but tbh his game winning drivers were VERY big this year. not saying he is as good as Cam or anything like that, but you can't just look at his stats.

that being said I'd probably still vote for RG3 (or fug, alfred morris holy crap) for OROY.

yeah but game winning drives is all a team oriented thing. Skip Bayless would argue it isn't and was just The Golden Calf of Bristol.

Big difference between a QB needing to drive 30 yards with a timeout for a fg winning with 1:45 on the clock......vs. asking a QB to drive 80 yards, needing a TD, no timeouts, 45 sec on the clock. First scenario guy is clutch.....2nd one choked.

I actually think Alfred was more impressive than RGIII this year. RG is hype. His throws aren't impressive. He gets credit for being accurate with them.... Take Alfred away from RGIII and I imagine he would have really struggled this year.

In all honesty, if the Colts wanted to invest time helping their back-up QB succeed in 2011 and forgo gettng Luck they could have. I'm not buying the whole Luck came in and save the day stuff. Especially when this team was a Play-off contending team a season before with Peyton and could have been had they kept Peyton instead of trading him for Luck. This seems like another made for TV hype like the one with The Golden Calf of Bristol.

The guy had more Ints than Cam. Supposedly did what Cam did last year in passing stats and his team gets to the play off comfortably his first season and Cam didn't with all that he did his rookie in both passing and rush TDs that season. Yeah right.

Luck accounted for less overall yards, less overall TDs than Newton. Luck had more turnovers.

Team sport. QB play is important.....but they don't actually win and lose on their own.

Agreed, you even left out Keek, which further adds to the same position talent that we have.

Here is our 2012 talent.

Cam, Smith, Luke, CJ, Hardy. That isn't a loaded roster with talent that somehow missed the playoffs. No one else stands out or is a key cog in what we did.

guys on IR or play small roles don't carry the weight some imply when the "talent" conversation come up. You need talent to be at the positons that actually matter and play every down.

#2070153 Post your reaction to to the Edwards getting run out by the punter.

Posted by CRA on 31 December 2012 - 12:07 PM

that return reminded me of Mark Jones.....even when a play sets up PERFECT our return man lacks the basic return talent to score. Return men sleep walk those to TDs. A shame Joe Adams can't field the ball.

#2070136 Luck, Griffin, Wilson, Kaepernick, Ponder, Dalton, Fox. All in playoffs.

The people saying we have all this talent sound like Saints fans....we are NOT that talented. We have Hurney to thank for that.

We have really good players at a few positions and crap at most of the others.

We have some excellent pieces to build around and the new GM just has to address our weaknesses instead of drafting more RBs and LBs.

Cam is also younger than all of those QBs and has a much higher ceiling as well. I think we'll get it with a solid GM pick up.

here are some players most bring up when bragging about our talent.

DeAngleo, Stewart, Tolbert, Beason, Kalil, Gamble, Gross....

They either didn't play this year, play positions that aren't highlighted, or spend considerable time on the bench, or are past their primes.

You want your talent to play practically every down.....and be a be featured in what we do. They aren't suppose to be depth.

#2069187 Things you do not want to see next year.

A bunch of highly paid RBs on a team that doesn't feature them

The same cast of safties

Louis Murphy as our #3

Someone on the current roster playing RG

#2068859 Very Nice Press Conference by Cam

He's great after a win but after a loss..............

He has been much better after losses as well if late

#2068833 Monster Home Schedule next year

Posted by CRA on 30 December 2012 - 08:37 PM

Meh...can never tell what is tough and easy until you actually get to a new season.

#2068814 We have the 15th pick...EDIT, the 14th pick Saints 15th.

Posted by CRA on 30 December 2012 - 08:27 PM

Restructure Gross, trade Beason, and cut Gamble and DWill. With the extra cap room, sign Bowe from KC.

Draft Matthews or Fisher in the first round.

Sign a vet guard.

Draft a 3 technique DT in the second

Draft a S with the Beason trade.

Beason isn't tradable.

Two consecutive years on IR with the largest MLB contract in the NFL. No team is touching that.
