#1231259 Update

Posted by CRA on 13 June 2011 - 09:23 PM

I find it very amusing that SOME people discredit him as being a leader... (steve smith)

He is a Team Captain right?? They don't just give those titles away... As I recall they took it from him the year he punched Lucas, and after a few games after suspension was served, he had it back.

Also, people assuming that he does not mentor and teach his young WR brethren... I find this the most fascinating to be honest...

Are you there in the room with the WR's during their film sessions? Are you at every practice actually seeing this first hand?? Nope, I didn't think so...
You use an article here or there, and use it as proof that he doesn't help and mentor his team mates. I think that mentality is asinine! If for only his own selfish reasons it would behoove him to give them everything he has si that he can become more open... I don't think that's the case though...

The article that sticks out the mist about him not mentoring would be the one in which Dwayne Jarret called him out for not helping him...

I think... And this is only my opinion... That he needed to see Dwayne Jarret try and help himself before he helped him out. Not saying it's right but... Look at it from Smitty's point of view.. Jarret arrived thinking he was the next great Keyshawn... DUI's before his rookie season ever began... Compact that with his "slow" learning aptitude and even more lethargic effort in working on his game... Not even dressing for games etc... I think that's why Smitty had such disdain for him.

Remember when there was a time that no fan understood what the problem with Jarret was... Nobody said anything for a long long time... Until one day Jarret spoke out if his mouth sideways and Smitty fired back calling him on his BS...

All I'm saying is that it's hard to just say he isn't a team player or leader with that type if speculation to back it up. I have always been told and raised on the old adage that you lead by example... As far as being a WR... I don't think he could set a better one. That's just my opinion though...

Bleys, I loved your post btw

Peppers got a C b/c of talent and b/c people wanted him to become a leader........no real difference between him and Smitty in that regard. again, not being a leader isn't some big insult.

Also there are more reports than just Jarret claiming the "leader" wanted nothing to do with them. LaFell, Gettis, and Edwards said the only vet help/guidance they got was from Jarrett.....again, wanting to aid/assist your teammates isnt a requirement.

There is little to support Smitty being a real leader on the team. Not from reports and actions over the years. he doesn't gave to be that in order to be a great WR

You guys need to think about how much difference the tag $$$ is for C vs. DE.

That said, IMO DE is a much harder position to fill than C.

there are a lot more great DEs in the league than great Cs.

Kalil also has been great for more than 1 season.

I guess I could argue it either way......

#1225712 Hiring question

Posted by CRA on 08 June 2011 - 03:28 PM

I heard you can negotiate a better deal if you wear a Panthers polo shirt :D

Yes, it is ok to haggle. I know your industry (general) and they usually have wiggle room when it comes to getting a ringer. Make your lines in the sand and the ones you can afford to negotiate away.

Me, I always ask for a pony because it is something i am willing to let them negotiate away from me.

lol, Panther polo....that is crazy.

everyone knows it is the Panther pullover that hits a homerun.

#1223138 Plaxico?

Posted by CRA on 06 June 2011 - 01:45 PM

He was a problem when it came to things related to Giants football

He was a problem away from football leading to his felony/jail time

He had to be disciplined on 3 seperate occassions while serving time in jail

NOTHING ABOUT THAT suggests he is worth a roster spot.

#1220794 Travelle Wharton

Posted by CRA on 03 June 2011 - 03:20 PM

Wharton is good enough that I forgive him for being a dirty scumbag Gamecock. Captain is on a pace to be forgiven as well.

#1220761 Travelle Wharton

Posted by CRA on 03 June 2011 - 02:50 PM

Wharton is a dang good G. He also is diverse enough that he can slide out and do what he did in 2009 at the T spot.

Chemistry among the line and QB play are two huge factors that I think people don't focus enough on. If you shuffle the line too much they aren't gonna look good b/c injury and QB imo is one of the bigggest factors in how a OL looks in pass protection. Bad QB play will make any OL look like garbage.

#1217110 In this thread I compare the Panthers and Giants drafting, 2002-2009

Posted by CRA on 31 May 2011 - 12:55 PM

Right, but in Fiz's defense, I think the Giants' overall grade for that draft suffers because they traded away the better quarterback and high draft picks for Manning. They knew they were going to get one of the top quarterbacks and evaluated them wrong, and I think that is a major strike against that draft for the Giants. You never know how rounds 2-7 seven are going to fall, so some disappointments there can be explained.

I will agree, they lost some as Rivers > Eli but that really is another topic. Eli is what they got with the pick and outside of his rookie year the Giants have not had a single losing season.

I agree, you can't expect 2-7 not to have flops. I just think Hurney has missed in rounds 2-7 at a higher rate than a lot of teams. Rounds 2-3 especially...Carolina pimping the line they emphasize building through the draft means Hurney should be looked at hard in rounds 2-7.

#1214752 For Matt Moore: Bad News and Good News

Posted by CRA on 27 May 2011 - 12:40 PM

I've believed pretty much all along that Moore would get a shot to compete in training camp. Hurney talked about him as someone they definitely wanted back and when he referred to his issues last year, he never mentioned "struggles", only "injuries".

Add in that when you look at their respective skill sets, Moore is actually much better suited to run a Coryell offense than Clausen is.
Still, Moore was an undrafted free agent and Clausen was a high draft pick, a recent one at that.

The failure to mention Moore could indeed just be a miscue on the part of the writer, or maybe something he didn't feel was relevant.

Or... :sosp:

Agree 100%......that just amplifies how dumb it will be for Carolina to waste a roster spot this season on Clausen. Clasuen is going to waste a spot this year and then they will move on......scrapping him in camp and giving Moore a spot imo would be the wiser move.

Time to admit Carolina made a mistake drafting QBs during a lameduck coaches last year. Made no sense then.......the time to go after young QBs was once a new staff was brought on.

#1211158 Who will the Panthers bring in to help on offense?

Posted by CRA on 24 May 2011 - 12:24 PM

why won't we be using FBs?

was Chud not a user of them in Clev?

FB Vickers was a Pro Bowl alternate in Chud's big year in Cleveland being the lead for blocker for Lewis.....

#1210104 This is me venting (somewhat long)

Posted by CRA on 23 May 2011 - 02:48 PM

A woman getting robbed is other people's business? OMG Y'all are the same people that would walk by someone dying on the street.

he actually never said she was being robbed....said she was trying to get in and the guy pulled her out. There was a lot of yelling and he hit her.

sounds to me like it could easily of also been a domestic dispute.....and those ain't nothing to f with.

#1205403 Matt Moore on his fate with the Panthers

Posted by CRA on 18 May 2011 - 04:21 PM

I want NCmonzta to come back and explain to us how Fox should have left Moore in there after he was on IR

maybe NCmonsta meant....

Moore should have never been benched in week 2....and Clausen should have never been given the keys as starter week 3. In theory, Moore starts the entire season.

since you are changing things.....you don't keep everything else occured later in the real timeline of events the same. Moore plays up until the NO game as the starter......then the events of that game change as well.

#1202300 Chris Weinke on WFNZ about training Cam

Posted by CRA on 17 May 2011 - 07:49 AM

Can't wait to see this kid in action.

#1186292 Jimmy Clausen

Posted by CRA on 04 May 2011 - 03:56 PM

So it's Clausen's fault that he was thrown in there prematurely without the following: running game, good receivers, or a respectable offensive line?

WRs had no problem when Clausen was on the bench.

Running game did the same as always - start slow, finish strong.

OL play was comparable to the rest of the division. QB play wasn't.

#1183811 OBL Death photo pending. (Photo Inside, enter at your own risk)

Posted by CRA on 03 May 2011 - 02:15 PM

I understand your point but we were more than respectful. We washed and cleaned his body, had a military preacher write a prayer and translate it into Arabic, but his body into a weighted body bag. If bin Laden caught one of our leaders, he would have them beheaded left in a field somewhere while the whole thing ran on constant loop on Al Jazera

to us, we were respectful.....

to radicals, it was an improper burial regardless as it was at sea. No point giving them visual ammo.

more negatives than positives imo to release that one. I think the opposite is true for the death shot.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying he deserved a proper burial. I think they should have just set him on fire and kicked him overboard. He didn't deserve anything. We don't need to show the Muslin world anything in regards to this particular Muslim is my point.

#1183418 Osama death photo?....Nope a fake

Posted by CRA on 03 May 2011 - 11:33 AM

hasn't every report said he was shot above the left eye?

I also question why they would put a Seal's face clearly in a released photo.

gotta be a fake.
