Key words: that close . But he doesn't and he shuts down his man given the opportunity. Julio Jones, now Jackson and Evans. I'll take "that close" over White playing. Him and Bene are our starters and we will have them beyond one year thank god. Continuity will be huge.
Eh, pretty much just a matter of time. He clearly can't rationalize situations....and his own actions.
It isn't like he starts acting out and gains control. His teammates swoop in and we narrowly avoid near disasterous stuff.
No one is saying Williams is the better back this year but over the long haul he has been. Williams is largely done as are most backs once they are on the back side of 30. No one says Williams should get the majority of carries. Ron himself said he makes Williams the starter because the last time in 2012 he names Stewart the starter he seriously underperformed so he thinks Stewart needs the pressure of competing for playing time in order to stay motivated. I don't know if that is true or not but that is what is happening.
Again no one is saying Williams is a better back now or this year. We are only talking about why Stewart hasn't been the consistent starter and why we think that is the case. I think Stewart has been his own worst enemy and we don't need to be blaming anyone else.
Ok. I got you know. Thought u were implying other things.
I get all that. I just think at this stage....Williams hurt did too much.
I really would like to just let Fozzy have an audition to finish the year. Not that I think he is better today than a healthish 28.....but it would let us know what we have in him.
I think Williams is gone. So I'd like to audition Fozzy with real work. Would help figure out of we need to draft a RB late next year possibly
Being the best means being consistent and playing well in big games when you are needed. It means not playing well 2 weeks and then disappearing but every week. Stewart has not done that and Williams has. Stewart has every opportunity to shine, he is younger, has less wear and tear on him and is bigger more bruising back. His failure to emerge as a consistent starter is on him and him alone. He spend more time riding the stationary back then he does practicing. That isn't going to give any coach confidence he can be an every day back and is why Rivera manages his touches. If he could actually be healthy and productive for a season he could easily win the starter role and keep it.
Williams isn't consistent.
Unless you mean consistantly ineffective?
At 31....he likely is our 4th best runner.
You, like our staff, are endorsing him getting reps bc of what he did in the past. Not what he is now. All your talk is on the past instead of what is actually occurring each Sunday in the present
