#2975402 Mike Shula "We cant expect to win many games running the ball 10 times"

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on Today, 06:50 PM

I don't hate the guy. His offense works great when it's matched with the right players and when the defense holds serve, just like most OC's i guess. I have just never really seen anything to show that he can change what he does to suit adversity, which is gonna have to happen if they want to make any noise this year.

Most coaches are what they are. Most fanbases eventually moan about it too.

It's gonna be sad if Torrey Smith goes off cause were so worried about 89

T. Smith is the best playmaker they have. 89 has messed that up. Ravens will eventually come to their senses.

89 is not their most dangerous WR.

I would like to see him on a screen with KB to block for him. at least try it, damn

KB needs work as a blocker

Hey Mikey, ever notice how a lot of the other decent teams call plays that take advantage of mismatches or situations? How come it seems like every catch KB makes has to be a circus catch in coverage? How come we don't run and quick hitters and poo like the bubble screens Pitt was running on our D to keep them honest? How come it seems like you are just trying to impose your hardheaded will on offense when you don't have the personnel besides Olsen, Benjamin, and Newton.

Oh, and while I'm griping, change the snap-count/cadence every once in a while.

We know the weaknesses, draw up some plays to take advantages of the strengths. Damn.

See, this is where the Shula hate just distorts reality. Benjamin had made a lot of tough catches but he is being given chances to make plays in ONE on ONE situations. That is what you are suppose to do with him. That is ideal usage of him.

As far as the quick bubble screen offenses....Cam Newton is our QB. His worst throws have generally been the short ones. Our WRs also are the quick twitch speed dudes...

Sometimes in the NFL you are the nail. Pitt was the week prior. We got a dose of it. We have been the hammer more often than not as a team since Shula took over with him playing with a team concept in mind.

Can't react too much to any one game

#2973286 You find out who the true Panthers fans are

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on Yesterday, 02:22 PM

by their opinion of Steve Smith now. If you are a true Panthers fan, don't bash the guy. He is amazing. Steve Smith is the man and will always be the man. Did great things for this franchise. He always just wanted to be a Panther, til last off season happened. We all should completely understand why it happened. We all miss Steve, but its a business.

I don't want him to have a big game against us, Id prefer LaFell like numbers from him. But if he goes off, just be happy for him. He needs as many great days in his career as he can get so he can go to Canton. Most here said a good day by Steve now is 5/60 so far he is exceeding that by a bunch.

Last night could have been that "trap" game, us getting caught looking to this week against Ravens. I thought we'd easily beat Steelers. Maybe the team thought so too. The o line getting beat by a three man rush is pathetic. They need to tell the lineman, don't let any motherfuger touch the QB like they did in Falcons hard knocks. Annnnnnnnd good things RB's are a dime a dozen.

Come out and destroy these mothafugin ugly birds................................but respect 89!!!!!!!!

89 was a great player but a flawed one.

Also, it is heavily reported 89 wanted out years ago but Carolina just couldn't get something they thought was worthy of it

But MOST IMPORTANTLY, don't be talking about who are and aren't real fans.....and follow it up by saying if a Raven goes off to "just be happy" for him. Until he retires, he is a Raven. Any Raven that plays us should have no success in our game

#2972979 How long is the Huddle gonna defend Shula?

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on Yesterday, 12:24 PM

Stats can be manipulated to one's liking. Can you ignore the fact that Shula offense last year was:

5th - % of drives that led to 1st down or TD

11th - Offensive Yards Per Drive -

10th - Offensive Points per drive -

Looks consistently good.

His offense averaged the 7th fewest turnovers per drive

On a per drive basis.....our O was solid last year. The fact bad offense had more attempts and thus gained more drive attempts with their ineffective offenses.....resulted in more raw yards.

look at Washington's O last year vs us. We were noticeably better on O. An efficient machine while they were a joke. They ranked higher in total yards though

#2972932 Our oline needs to make a decision

Derek Anderson is reaching epic levels of overratedness (doubt that is a word)

#2972875 Kelvins TD

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on Yesterday, 11:53 AM

I think DA understands better on where to put the ball for Kelvin. That was text book ball placement. If you watch some of Kelvins catches from cam, many are Kelvin making a great play on a poor throw.

Cam placed a perfect one for him too....Kelvin did a horrible job on it

DA was money on that pass.

I keep pondering if DA started the whole 2nd half would the outcome be different?

Bc of a garbage time TD toss against backups?

#2972694 The JAG element of our WR corps stood out. It is what it is.

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on Yesterday, 10:45 AM

OL JAGs are a bigger issue.

#2972679 In a way was our defense slightly exposed last night?

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on Yesterday, 10:39 AM

I don't think we got exposed. I think we simply played the run poorly....LBs especially. Bell is unique and they handled it wrong. Overshot plays into gaps. He waited on them instead of the other way around.

As far as the pass rush. Same stuff happened last year when teams went to quick pass.....see Philly in preseason, Bills, etc. It forces you to play D with your back 7. Everyone knows if you take our front out our D is different. Nothing our pass rush can do there

#2972623 Opponent backed up to their own end zone... then huge run.

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on Yesterday, 10:25 AM

Davis did get held.....but even if he didn't get held that RB would have gashed us. Maybe for not as long or a run but he definitely got sucked into the wrong gap
