#1406313 Did we misuse money on DeAngelo?

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 19 September 2011 - 10:28 AM

But that 2005 Bentley hadn't shown signs of slowing down. Plus, the 2008 hadn't shown signs of being head and shoulders better than the 2005. You can't always go off potential.

your 2005 Bentley went into the shop in 2009 and 2010. It didn't run well inbetween those shop visits nor now that it is back out again.......

the engine is knocking....your radio is up too loud to notice.

#1395441 Predicting a loss vs. GB

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 14 September 2011 - 11:11 AM

I don't see the Packers putting up those points. I think they beat us fairly easily.....but based on that NO game NO dictated it would be a shoot early by there defense. Carolina can dictate that GB opts to run more.....like NO did later in the game. I think Carolina will make them want to run.....Carolina will run more. simply a matter of less attempts for the GB offense.

#1394283 Ron Fields and Reggie Wells?

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 13 September 2011 - 07:39 PM

He was cut because he played like the best defensive lineman the Colts had, and wanted to be treated as such and respected over the likes of Freeney and Mathis. He was cut for his attitude.

But we have Ron Rivera, a coach he respects immensely and who made him the player he is, and likely the only person coaching in the NFL who could return Harris to pro-bowl form.

But, ya know, Ron Fields will be just as good. Right?

clearly there is something about Tommy we don't know about.

#1390550 Think Cam will keep a level head?

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 12 September 2011 - 03:59 PM

Cam almost went into a mini depression after that game......and yet Whitlock thinks he is going to get a big head? Whitlock must of been struggling to write something.

Newton thrives under pressure. He showed that in college. I don't see his mental makeup changing

#1381438 9/11 shoes and gloves

For the record Fiz, I would not put myself into any of the categories you listed as criteria that people who think this equipment is awesome would fit in.

Not to turn this into a tinderbox thread, but I believe 9/11 was an inside job... I still think our country should remember it and keep that memory alive... In a weird way, I look at players wearing something like this as almost like a protest, that's why I appreciate it.

hi Rashard Mendenhall

#1381158 Can any Panther pull off a Randall Cobb 108-yard kick return

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 09 September 2011 - 11:13 AM

Steve Smith. Problem is he never did kickoffs and doesn't do punt returns anymore.

well, not entirely true. The first time he touched a football for Carolina was on a kickoff for a TD. His KR work was probably a big factor than his PR work in going to the Pro Bowl that year.

the world we live in today.....

#1374597 Keep this in mind about Sunday

thanks

hey, if I can eliminate 2 of the 5700 "Oh my gawd Cam is horrible and he set Carolina back 3 decades" threads that will follow simply what realistically should occur this Sunday.......it would be worth it.

#1366778 Cam's Amazing Stats... Not Kidding

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 02 September 2011 - 10:20 AM

What his running ability does is reduce the way that teams can blitz him. When Pittsburgh rushed 6 or 7 and he broke containment, he was wide open with virtually no one around him for 15 yards. When teams have to use spies on him and keep linebackers on him to keep him from running, it opens up the TEs and other guys like backs coming out into the flat. Teams will have to gameplan to stop him which makes other things more effective. If they keep 8 in the box it should keep folks from doubling Smitty. Imagine a reverse where Newton and the RB goes left along with the whole defense and then Smitty or Edwards does a reverse the other direction. The possibilities are endless.

Wait until he figures out that he can slide and run out of bounds, he will easily run for 1000 yards this year without even trying to do it just scrambling on broken plays.

I think early on this season Chud should go HEAVY shotgun. Teams if they blitz heavy.....Cam should be able to find a lane and really hurt them. Could limit the blitzes sent on a young QB.

#1361543 Preseason Impressions: The Quarterbacks

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 31 August 2011 - 07:45 AM

Not all of those were commenting towards you, hence why it seems that you never referenced them!

I am going to have to disagree about Flutie and Brees. In both cases the QBs had done nothing for their respective teams, Flutie having not played and Brees posting a ~67 rating the prior year. In hindsight, yes they were in theory the better option, but pre-season there would have been little attachment to either player.

In Flutie's situation, he had only started approximately 40 games - much like Anderson. In addition both had one good season surrounded by mediocrity and poor seasons. Teams can win despite their QBs, are you going to make the same argument if Jake Delhomme were still here?

Brees was not the long term answer and had played poorly in the two seasons (he sat because of Flutie in year 1) and Rivers was drafted to replace him. There was no attachment to Brees and he had done nothing to show he was capable of winning games for SD.

Like I say, I disagree with your assesment. I feel you are sticking to your guns to prove a point. The coaches made the right call in letting these guys sit, but it wasn't because there was an immediate upgrade on the roster already. In just seems that way looking back now beause we know what the results are.

How can you disagree with Flutie being 21-9 the 3 seasons leading up to starting over a rookie.....and Brees putting in a Pro Bowl season that year as solid evidence that they were better options to start over rookie QBs for teams.

DA and Clausen aren't going to be Pro Bowlers this year (Brees) nor are they coming off years of respectable QB play (Flutie).

and again, have repeatedly stated I don't want Cam to start. Ideally, he would come in after the bye week as it come at a PERFECT time. Ideally, they would have brought in a functional vet like a Hasselbeck or McNabb to hand the job over to Cam when more ready.....but they didn't make those roster moves. They put Cam on a roster with the 2 worst QBs from 2010......that being the case it makes the most sense to start him.

Brees showed in camp and practice and preseason he was a better option than the rookie to start the year....and when the season started he end all doubt.

Clausen has been neck and neck w/ Cam all camp and DAs' only positive is they hardly let him throw and it gets spun he could be better (but he is bad).

The other rookies sat b/c there were better options. That is simply the way it was and it was PROVEN to be that way. If we had Flutie caliber vet Cam would not be starting. If we had a Matt Moore caliber QB Cam would not even be starting........but we don't.....we have the 2 worst QBs from 2010.

#1360013 Gruden on the Panthers

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 30 August 2011 - 12:23 PM

The number one most difficult schedule doesn't help either

and again, the SOS you are referring to applies to the 2010 season.

flawed to use that as reality for the upcoming year.....every team will be different and play different and have new injuries. SOS will be different than what is currently shown.

Like I said, lookat the SOS projected prior to the 2010 season and what it turned out to be.....it is always different.....every year.

#1356479 Cam is not ready

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 27 August 2011 - 10:39 PM

i dunno, Chud was never a huge running guy in Cleveland either, at least not in 2007.

Chud just had a primary RB in 07. He was 5th in yards, 7th in attempts, and 7th in rushing TDs. They ran very well in 07. He put a load on a RB and he delievered. The run setup everything DA was able to do.

He also used a FB often....and he probably should of gone to the pro bowl in 07.

#1356190 Otah back at practice

Posted by DeAngelo's #1 Fan(CRA) on 27 August 2011 - 07:46 PM

So you think Otah has zero say on if he plays or not? If a player says they feel like they can't play for a medical reason, I am pretty sure the team won't play them and possibly can't play them legally. Do you really think Delhomme hurt his finger and all of our good players were genuinely injured last year you're delusional.

Yes, I think they were all hurt. If we had hopes of making a playoff run Williams wouldn't of gone to IR but he would have missed games.

Andy Dalton > Cam Newton

Have you watched Dalton this preseason? Have you seen what he does when faced with comparble pressure as Newton?? The result is something much worse......
