#958162 Choosing Carolina over San Fran?

Posted by panther4life on 03 January 2011 - 11:55 AM

Little known fact about Harbaugh when it comes to san fran vs carolina.

In 2001 the final season of his career Harbaugh was offered a spot on the bench at 3 teams, San Fransisco, Miami, and Carolina. Harbaugh said the choice was easy since he and his wife loved the Carolinas and particularly Charlotte. Seifert also said he would be given the oppurtunity to be the next QB'S coach, which thrilled Harbaugh, who was let down once Seifert was fired

HAHAHAHAHAHA, the faint of heart are gonna neg rep me lol

#937865 Where do you rank Andy Reid among NFL Head Coaches?

Posted by panther4life on 23 December 2010 - 11:20 AM

Yeah, I mean a relatively young, successful Super Bowl winning Head Coach might be a good hire for the Panthers. As opposed to one who never has.

I see what you did there..but I have given up hope on Cowher

If we lose thursday, then denver and cincy win on sunday then we could officially have the # 1 pick by sunday evening. The saint/falcon game would become irrelevant at that point

#933836 Could Harbaugh fix Clausen?

Posted by panther4life on 20 December 2010 - 02:59 PM

I just dont think its the end of the world if Clausen ends up being our qb of the future if we make the right head coach/offensive staff hirings. This is not my ideal scneario but a possible one that hasnt been mentioned much. Plus the local media says our front office is still very high on him.

Wearing Panther gear when were losing is my favorite time to wear it. Ya alot strangers talk poo or whatever but its better conversation than talking about the weather or whatever. To me I feel more prideful when i wear it during losing seasons and stand out for it. When we are winning everybody dust's of their old sweatshirts and hats and pretend they were diehards the whole time.

Maybe i'm crazy but nows the best time to be proud to wear your gear.

people who claim your not a real fan rooting for us to lose are just wrong. I'm not gonna speculate their reasons for going on here and ranting about it or prentending to be better fans.

#907817 Anyone Still Want to Defend Clausen?

Posted by panther4life on 05 December 2010 - 08:09 PM

Smith just took a subtle shot at Jimmy on the post game radio interview saying the sacks weren't coverage sacks and that receivers were open but not getting thrown the ball.

heres what I heard.

announcer/reporter:what happened smith?
Smith: well we just sputtered out in the 2nd half. As a reciever you dont know whats happening behind you since your running downfield, ya we hear the crowd noise and turn around but by that point the refs already blowing the whistle. I will say this tho, Gettis, Lafell, and myself did a good job of getting open. I can tell you those werent coverage sacks.

then his shot at the coaching staff
Smith: we practice hard and earn our money during the week, then on sunday we get to come out and be boys and have fun. go out and draw plays up in the dirt, the plays we were drawing up just werent working.

I think the first shot was open for interpetation. Meaning it could be the o-line or clausens fault. I'm sensing some of both.

#904778 Rookie Report Vs Browns

Posted by panther4life on 03 December 2010 - 05:05 PM

Yes they are, Clausen's last two starts were the two best rushing performances of the year, as well as two best ST performances, coupled with one of the best starting field position games. Add in the fact our defense forced turnovers for us and you have one person to look at.

John Kasay?

#904701 Rookie Report Vs Browns

can't just look at stat lines to tell the story of a football game. Who did what and who didn't.

Clausen isn't getting the job done. Not matter the scenario, he isn't showing anything. There is a reason Clausen has so few pass attempts in the redzone......he is the checkdown King in a playaction offense. That doesn't mesh.

I agree 100% there. Hes not single handidly winning us ball games.
Where we disagree is that I'm willing to consider all of the circumstances and facts to try to determine why and if it all falls on him. I dont think the blame should all fall on him for our struggles and the offense not getting the job done.

Our offense is a playaction offense that requires power runs up the gut and occasion cutbacks(to sucesfully sell the playaction) and w.r's beating the opposing corners deep. We can not get any push in the run game right now which is making the playaction useless.

I applaud Clausen for checking it down and throwing the ball away when he's getting pressure and nobodys open deep. You flame him for it prefering he go into Brett Favre mode and risk picks. Unfortunately our team is not built to be able to come back from big deficits, so the not risking the picks works for me.

The John Fox M.O is to run the ball down your throat and force you to stack the box and open up the playaction. Right now that isnt working and is not Clausens fault that we cant run the ball.

How many rushing td's do we have this year? If Clausen was a drive killer by throwing mulitple costly picks you could blame him for that too, but he's not.

#899585 Harbaugh / Luck Question #2

Posted by panther4life on 30 November 2010 - 05:29 PM

Answering the question directly. Yes he should start immediately.

His supporting cast is only going to get better next year than what it currently is now.
If luck is as good as most think he is, and we draft him # 1 overall then it would be a travesty not to start him. If we dont start him it should only be for bad reasons such as he got beat out by another qb in training camp.
