#2805093 Soccer season 2014-2015

Posted by DirtyMagic97 on 31 May 2014 - 05:56 AM

Full Quote: from Angel Di Maria:

“They (the media) say a lot of things and sometimes you think too much about them and it hurts when you are giving your all for the club. Things come out like ‘he’s going to Tottenham,’ or ‘he’s staying.’ These are difficult times for a player. It’s difficult to detach yourself (from the speculation). I was calm as I knew I wanted to continue with Madrid.”

Love how the media takes a snippet, fugs up the translation, then blasts the interwebz with their exclusive content. I have to admit, the poster there is pretty funny (and if they had said Arsenal instead, I would have loved it just like you guys), but totally taken out of context and ran with by the unrepentant and unprofessional sports writers. Absolutely zero ramifications if they screw it up too, which is BS.

It's just a joke. Everyone knows Marca is poo.

We have separate threads for us soccer, English premier league, Spanish league, fa cup, champions league, World Cup, transfer news. Instead of 1 big cluster fug.

Exactly...I mean, I'll be talking poo about someone's club and then some fool comes in with legitimate transfer news...where do I go from there?

Good rotation guy.

Now the fee is closer to £5m. I can dig that for a rotation guy. Boyhood Red too. Was in the youth academy until he was released when he was 15. Better than Iago Aspas.

I might be better than Iago Aspas.

Liverpool have bid £16m for Alberto Moreno. Most sources saying the deal includes Suso, but not sure if it's loan or permanent move. I'd hate to see Suso go.

Our year was 2006 when we were ranked 4th in the world, but we blew it.

Ugh. What a meltdown. F*cking Ghana.

Don't forget game tonight against Azerbaijan at 10:00 P.M. on ESPN2

I'm think we win three or four-nil.

I really want to watch, but it looks like I'll be in the air at kickoff. I'm traveling to Jacksonville to watch us play Nigeria on June 7th though.

While us Real fans are still celebrating La Decima, it appears management is already eyeing the next one. Rakitic and Vidal are said to be priority targets this summer, and Vidal apparently is quite 'flattered' in being pursued by Los Galacticos. We'll see what happens in a few weeks, I suppose.

Seriously, why not just fire Ancelotti? A fuging broom could manage that team.

I respect Atletico but no excuses about Arda and Costa whatsoever. We didn't have Xabi, and Benzema, Pepe and Ronaldo weren't 100%. Atleti had their chance on Casilla's massive error and they couldn't close it out.

The difference is, your bench cost more than their entire team. When you see an underdog, you at least want them to be near full strength.

It's really kind of remarkable that Atleti were able to win the league. It's easy to be an underdog for one match, but over the course of 38, it's pretty awesome.

But I'm still mostly just bitter at watching all these teams that buy their trophies. Because the team I cheer for wont ever be able to do that.

He's probably the right choice back there. It just drives me crazy that he seems to punch/deflect everything rather than try and catch it. Maybe I'm over-critical as a former goalie, but I definitely notice it. He'll make a great save but someone has to clear it before there's a rebound shot.

Yea. He has a tendency to get over-ambitious with his punches too. He got caught out several times this season doing it.

Yep and I don't think you take Donovan (and his form) over Wondo or Altidore. Altidore while being a complete non factor overseas has been another spark plug for the National team. Also, he has the young legs to recover quicker in the elements.

Agreed. For whatever reason, Wondo has been a lightning rod for USMNT. Altidore has been quality as well.

First off, that view is held by many high ranking individuals in U.S. Soccer and many formers are questioning Klinsmann right now (Twellman, Lalas etc.)

The guy plays favorites and clearly has a hard-on for his transfers, Julian Green is not ready to play at the biggest stage, he's just not.

Also when Donavan took his sabbatical, it was a four month hiatus... that's the equivilant to missing four or five games and when it mattered he was there. His assist against Mexico is what put us there.

Not to mention that he showed in the Gold Cup (playing with much inferior talent) that he still has gas left.

This move is going to be costly because overall this teams lacks leadership and experience and Klinsmann is going to pay for it going up against the veteran laden squads of Germany and Portugal.

Or hey, if you want to keep Green to give him some experience then at least get rid of Timmy Chandler who will never see the World Cup again.

Lalas isn't question the fact that it happened. He is questioning the timing of it. Lalas said if Klinsmann wanted to do it, it should have been after Donovan's sabbatical. And maybe it should have.

Every WCQ matters. Donovan decided some didn't to him. If we hadn't taken care of business, his assist wouldn't have meant anything. Can you imagine Cam Newton deciding he didn't want to play 4-5 games in the middle of the season because he was tired, and then coming back in game 16 when he knows we're going to the playoffs?

We lack leadership? You can't be serious?  Altidore, Dempsey, Bradley, Howard, Beasley, and Jones have like 500 caps between them. We have leadership and experience at literally every position.

I can't say I disagree with Timmy Chandler. He shouldn't have made it. But most of the time, the exclusion of a defender doesn't open the door for a winger. That's more tactical.
