#2227322 woodson willing to play for anyone.

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 09 May 2013 - 10:30 PM

the man just wants to play.

rotoworld...

Free agent Charles Woodson is now willing to join a team in rebuilding mode.

"When this process first started out, I needed to go to a contender," Woodson said. "I know I am toward the end of my career. At this point, I want to play football. So if it is a rebuilding stage, at this point if that is the circumstances I have to play under, then that is what I am going to do." Woodson is confused by the lack of interest in himself and other 30-plus-year-old free agents. Some teams that could still use safety help are the Panthers, Browns, Cowboys, Broncos, Chiefs, Vikings, Jets, Chargers, and Rams.

#2226494 How many of you....

Now c'mon Rayzor, I don't think he was saying any of that.  I'm pretty sure, and I don't want to speak out of turn here, the post was probably aimed at local fans that don't show up to games.  It's evident at this current juncture of Panther history that Panther fan attendance is way down.  Most likely because of poor performance by the team, but down all the same.  It's a fair question to those in the area why they wont support the team the best way they can.

the answer is easy then...most local football fans aren't panther fans.

when the team first started, there were fans from all over coming to see them. it was an exciting time back then. nowadays, the only way you're going to consistently fill the home stadium with panther fans is to attract the not so local fans back...give them a reason to come back.

the first step is to start consistently winning games.

it's easy....i don't live close enough and the trip is too expensive for me and my family.

i do what i can, when i can, how i can.

got a problem with that?

that make you a better fan?

x2.

the next time i find a few extra grand to drop on a trip to charlotte and watch a panthers game, i'll be there.

#2226400 Top sleeper teams for 2013

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 09 May 2013 - 08:31 AM

how many seasons has the panthers been picked as a sleeper team?

it's time for them to stop hitting the snooze button and wake the fug up.

#2224341 If Kenjon Barner shows competence, is Deangelo gone on June 1?

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 07 May 2013 - 08:34 AM

I don't believe any scenario will result in Deangelo being cut this year.  I also believe there is no scenario where he will be on the team next year.

gettlemen's responses to williams's status for this season say otherwise.

#2223163 teams weren't offering much for williams

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 05 May 2013 - 07:40 PM

LOL....Stewart and Tolbert being pimped as scrubs in comparison to Williams. Stewart when healthy has put up 200 on clowns before.

Post 2008, Williams has 6 games over 100 yards rushing, which is less than Stewart in that time frame. Only 3 more than Tolbert.

stewart wasn't healthy when he rushed for over 200 yards against the giant's 8th ranked run defense.

200 yards is still one hell of an accomplishment. It irks me no end when folks downplay this achievement. Just because you hate his contract is no reason to try and downplay his ability.

Oh yeah, plug and play RBs don't go for 200 yards. And this is not the first time he has done this. Yeah let's just roll with plug along Stewy and Tolbert. So what if we don't get any splash plays, there is no real need to scare the D with another weapon. We will do just fine with these two. Or Cam and two nobodies if you believe CRA.

Short sighted to dismiss DWill. Until he is gone, he is our ONLY true threat at RB.

statistically, what do you consider a home run?

#2223087 teams weren't offering much for williams

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 05 May 2013 - 06:12 PM

something to chew on.

williams's 2008 season is the only thing that really separates stewart's and williams's overall career stats.

williams - 2008 = 80 games, 896 attempts for 4269 yards, 4.8 ypc, 25 tds

stewart = 71 games, 818 attempts for 3836 yards, 4.7 ypc, 27tds

a "breakout" season is the only difference between the two.

#2220396 nakamura not in the mix...florence a favorite?

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 02 May 2013 - 06:38 AM

per rotoworld...

Panthers coach Ron Rivera expects Mike Mitchell and D.J. Campbell to compete at strong safety.

Haruki Nakamura isn't in the mix after his disastrous 2012. Charles Godfrey will start at free safety. Mitchell is a run-stopping specialist. He started just eight games in four years with the Raiders. A 2012 seventh-rounder, Campbell played 252 snaps on defense as a rookie. On paper — and likely in practice — the Panthers have one of the league's worst secondaries.

The Charlotte Observer considers CB Drayton Florence a "favorite" for a starting job.

This is the same Drayton Florence who was released twice in 2012. He wasn't re-signed by the Lions after missing time with a concussion and forearm injury, and struggling in the 310 snaps he managed to take the field for. Beat writer Joseph Person projects Florence to start opposite Josh Norman, with D.J. Moore and Captain Munnerlyn fighting for snaps in the slot. With only five picks, the Panthers didn't draft a corner. It's not a good situation.

#2213997 Panthers select Oregon RB Kenjon Barner

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 27 April 2013 - 04:28 PM

for those who don't follow oregon (aka the running back factory) football, kenjon barner will easily be one of the best running backs on carolina's roster. should stewart or williams go down, the running game won't miss a beat with him stepping in.

#2211092 Somebody didn't get the memo

Posted by nosuchthingasapanther on 26 April 2013 - 07:23 PM

after the kawann short pick, said team probably thought hurney was running the show.
