USA Today: Five reasons to believe in the Carolina Panthers

23 July 2014 - 12:24 PM

5. The wisdom gained last season: In 2013, the Panthers started terribly before getting their act together and winning the NFC South. They don’t have to go through the struggle again. They are an older and wiser team that understands how to get through the rigors of an NFL season.

3. Luke Kuechly’s awesomeness

'Nuff said.  :lk:

Shutdown Corner ranks Panthers 13th for 2014

21 July 2014 - 01:35 PM

Maybe Cam Newton is good enough to overcome the deck that's stacked against him (and he might be), and the defense is still going to be fantastic. Just don't expect 12-4 again this season

There are not a dozen quarterbacks in the league better than Newton. No chance. I thought last year would have put an end to the silliness when it comes to Newton, the nitpicking about his sideline demeanor and such. He's a phenomenal quarterback who has had three incredible seasons with a terrible offensive supporting cast. I don't know what more Newton needs to do. But he is an elite quarterback, without a doubt. Maybe he will "break out" this year and we can move beyond the petty arguments surrounding him.

Frank Schwab at Yahoo's Shutdown Corner continues the 2014 countdown with the Panthers at #13 and gives a pretty good rundown of our weaknesses and strengths.  It's a good read. BTW he was the only one that called for us to win the NFC South last year. Seriously.

I'm so excited for football this year!! Can't wait.

Mary Wilson becomes controlling owner of Bills

03 April 2014 - 07:39 PM

It will be interesting to see the potential ramifications. Having it in a trust may mean it has to be sold to the highest bidder... This may mean Mary can sell it to whomever she wants.

Which is great news, because that means she is not obligated to choose the highest bidder. If Jon Bon Jovi (for example), who would move the team, bids $900 MIL and Jeremy Jacobs (again, for example), who would keep the team here, bids $895 MIL, a trust would have no choice but to choose the $900 MIL. Mary Wilson, on the other hand, could choose the lower bid.

It may mean the Bills stay in Buffalo. Good Lord, I hope so!

It also shows what could become of the Panthers' ownership once JR passes. After all, Rosalind is the one staying awake during the games lol.

Radical politics comes to the NFL via a Panthers picture

24 February 2014 - 11:10 PM

Burkman, however believes that “[i]f the NFL has no morals and no values, then Congress must find values for it.”

The bill probably won't make it out of any committee if it even makes it that far. Also shows that lobbyists write bills all the time. But that's not why I'm posting it here. This is. It's the pic at the top of the article. From 2011.

["Carolina Panthers Player, James Anderson, Is Announced Before Playing Against The New Orleans Saints At The Bank Of America Stadium In Charlotte" on Shutterstock]

Think they searched for the most "over the top" looking NFL picture they could quickly find. Obviously it was taken during player introductions. Just don't know what else to say about this. It's a stock photo. But, wtf. An lol moment?
