#2860946 Why, Kraken....why?

Posted by LinvilleGorge on Yesterday, 11:51 AM

My fellow Panthers fans, you need to stop flip flopping on your own players so much. It's been like this for YEARS now and enough is enough

I agree.  I mean, I'm still sticking up for Rae Carruth.  I'm tellin' ya, he's just misunderstood.  We gotta support everyone who's ever worn a Panthers jersey no matter what!

#2860157 Tony Dungy: "I wouldn't have taken him." (Michael Sam)

I understand what he's saying, but I would've expected him to be smart enough to not actually say it.

#2857078 A ranking people may actually like, but...

I'm not overly fond of PFT, but honestly, that write up is pretty doggone fair and largely echoes what many of us here have been talking about for the past couple of months.

#2856225 Ranking the NFC South QBs

Posted by LinvilleGorge on 17 July 2014 - 09:52 PM

I'd honestly put Cam third at this point behind Ryan.

Last year not withstanding Ryan has been exceptional. I don't like him, but his numbers, as a passer and in the win column, give him a decided advantage.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using CarolinaHuddle mobile app

I can't agree.  Ryan is really underrated on these forums, but Cam is simply better.  Cam has never had anywhere near the pass catching weapons that Ryan has enjoyed and that's not even factoring in Cam's running ability.

#2855487 So now Mike Mitchell is suddenly a top 10 safety

Posted by LinvilleGorge on 17 July 2014 - 01:24 PM

He was a top 10 safety playing in our defense behind our front seven.  He was considered a bust in Oakland and that's why we were able to get him on a dirt cheap one year deal last year.

I wish we could've kept him, but I realize our defense made him look better than he is.  The actual player that he truly is is likely somewhere in between the bust that he was in Oakland and the borderline Pro Bowler he was last year in Carolina.  The Steelers bet heavily that it's a lot closer to the latter than the former.

#2854438 Lance Stephenson signing and it's big picture impact

Posted by LinvilleGorge on 16 July 2014 - 05:16 PM

Ok understand this it's a simple concept, we actually learn in sports marketing classes in school, marketability draws interest and exposure...we get more nationally televised games because we re good and people want to see cam play....Johnny football hasn't played and nfl snap but is one of the most talked about names in sports, he's marketed his self, you can bet that the browns will be on tv more due to people wanting to see him play and he isn't even the starter yet, pair that with the cavs and Lebron , Cleveland sports will be one of the most talked about and analyzed topics in the next few months, which I garuntee will make it easier for the browns to acquire more FAs....people wanted to see lance play in the playoffs #1 due to his playmaking abilities and #2 his antics, more national exsposure draws more national attention, more fans from other areas, and most importantly makes it a more desirable location for players who want more exsposure....this isn't a football or basketball only topic...it's about the culture of CLT sports as a whole, once again lance isn't a tier 1 superstar but with the exception of maybe al Jefferson he's the biggest name on the roster! Cam is despite what the media might say, a legit superstar! You can expect this to have an impact in coming years!

Johnny Football is nothing compared to Lebron.  Lebron doesn't need help to get exposure.  He could've went anywhere and the media and money would follow.  Hell, he did go pretty much "anywhere".  Cleveland is about as shitty of a market as you could pick among NBA cities.  To imply that he needs the help of someone like Manziel who is right now nothing more than a flavor of the month is comical.  We're a global economy now.  It doesn't matter where you play, the sponsorship money and attention will be there for you if you're a brand they can capitalize on.  Durant and Westbrook are doing just fine in OKC.  Cam is doing quite well here in Charlotte.  You no longer have to be in a NYC or LA to garner the major attention and big bucks.

If you paid some school to educate you on marketing concepts, I regretfully inform you that you wasted your money.  Sorry about that English too.  This coming from a guy who has worked in marketing almost exclusively for the past 7 years.

#2852749 Hardy court thread : for all things that happen in court today

Posted by LinvilleGorge on 15 July 2014 - 08:39 PM

What agenda was that.

You'd have to ask her.  Maybe she's a feminist.  Maybe she doesn't like athletes.  Who knows.  But, the testimony seemed to be going against Holder the whole way.

Keep in mind, this is coming from a guy who was ready to crucify Hardy when he was first arrested.

Based on all the tweets about the testimony, seems like Hardy fell victim to an activist judge.  Zero regard for any law, just there to push an agenda.

#2851810 A small victory for Panther Nation

Posted by LinvilleGorge on 15 July 2014 - 02:41 PM

I would never switch from Carolina to Denver. You're just an awful person.

This.  Hell, I went to every Broncos home game for three years straight because my company had a suite at Mile High.  You give me free NFL tickets, suite or not, I'm gonna go.  The suite just made it all the better since I could sit in there and watch my Panthers.

#2851775 NFL media analyst ranks R.R. @ # 21 coach rankings

Posted by LinvilleGorge on 15 July 2014 - 02:24 PM

We really are the Rodney Dangerfield of the NFL.  No respect.  Cam completely carries our offense since his first day under center - 3rd tier QB.  Rivera leads us to a division championship on his way to winning the NFL coach of the year - #21 rated NFL coach.  LOL!

LOL!  Yep, I do. :)

#2850858 long term deal for hardy was never in the plans

Posted by LinvilleGorge on 14 July 2014 - 10:48 PM

I don't know about you, but I think we are better off now than we were last year in the secondary.  And we didn't have to do anything ridiculous like pay Mitchell and Munneryn instead of Hardy.  JMO, of course.

I like Mitchell's demeanor, but you're also talking about taking away a key piece that helped the secondary look as good as it did and helped those guys get paid elsewhere..

We'll have to wait and see.  I honestly think Cason has a chance to be our best CB since Chris Gamble which honestly isn't saying a great deal.  I don't see Captain as a huge loss.  Maybe I'm wrong on that, we'll see.  I really wish we could've kept Mitchell because I think he was huge for us last year both in his play and his leadership/emotion.  Just like last year, our secondary is a big question mark going into the season.  Worked out pretty well last year and hopefully it will again this year.

#2850836 long term deal for hardy was never in the plans

Posted by LinvilleGorge on 14 July 2014 - 10:34 PM

The way I see it, whenever a 25 y/o has the opportunity to make massive money and make a name for himself is given a DE franchise tag will hopefully have some fricken motivation to wreck sh*t this season...especially if he knows the team is cap strapped and it may be a league audition of sorts.  Only positives..

..but Kony is the one I'm watching b/c even given the value, it was still a questionable pick imho.

I don't see the Ealy pick as questionable.  Hardy is playing under the franchise tag and CJ has a massive cap hit.  No matter what happens, I don't think Gettleman had any plans of both of them being here after this season.  I honestly think the plan was to keep Hardy long-term and make CJ a cap casualty, then Hardy had to go and get himself arrested and now the Panthers are backpedaling and acting like Hardy was never in the long-term plans and making themselves look like a bunch of amateur hacks in the process.
