#3372827 CIN Rookie LB Paul Dawson compared to Luke

Posted by LinvilleGorge on Yesterday, 09:48 AM

Meh, they're excited about their player.  I'm not gonna dog them for it.  They got a guy who was widely considered to be the best 4-3 LB in the draft prior to the combine at the bottom of the 3rd.  Yeah, he ran a terrible time, but he was probably still a good gamble at that point in the draft.

#3371102 Frank Garcia thinks 6 years 150 million for Cam

Why would cam get more than Wilson whose been to back to back super bowls and won one? Cam doesn't have that type of bargaining chip to play with. He likely knows this and will take less than what Wilson gets but not by much but it will be lower.

You're displaying an outstanding misunderstanding of how NFL contracts work.  Which given your posting history isn't a surprise.

Dude, you're an idiot.

We'll look back in hindsight and realize that the biggest mistake Gettleman made was not locking Cam up long-term at the earliest opportunity. Waiting and letting him play under the 5th year option is going to cost us tens of millions in cap space long-term.

I really liked Strong too, but if Funchess is the guy we wanted I'm fine with that.

#3369124 So Lets Talk Defense....

I wasn't that excited about the Shaq pick until I heard Rivera's presser afterward.  I was looking at the Shaq pick in terms of last year's team.  We ran a nickel package most of the time.  If we continued to do that, I just didn't understand taking another LB in the 1st when there was no way he was going to see the field over Luke and TD.  But, hearing Rivera talk about how they ran so much nickel not because they wanted to, but because they HAD to and that adding another fast, athletic LB would allow them to stick with their base D on a lot more snaps really intrigues me.  Running so much nickel really caused our run D to suffer.  I'm hoping Shaq works out and we can allow Collin Jones to compete at safety instead of playing him out of position at nickelback.

#3369025 Which 3 New Additions Are You Most Excited About?

Oher - a LT not named Byron Bell

Funchess - hopefully we'll finally have a legit pair of starting WRs for the 1st time since Moose/Smitty

Ginn - we've already seen what he can do for us as a deep threat and return specialist

Not sure how JMF will get around EA's stranglehold on NFL licensing. If JMF can't use the actual NFL roster they might as well not even bother.

Break out? He played fantastic last year. If he "breaks out" beyond that he's going to be one of the top CBs in the league.

#3366012 How many true, lifelong Panthers fans are actually out there?

Don't take this the wrong way...but you never struck me as the Philly type.

How is it possible to take that the wrong way? Hell, that's a fine compliment.

I'm 32 but never really rooted for the Panthers until we drafted Peppers. Had casual interest in them as the local team, but didn't become a full fledged fan until we drafted Pep. As a life long UNC fan, that was the push I needed to get over the hump.

It's amazing how far one play can take you.

One play?

He lead the NFL in receiving yardage per game last year at 108.8ypg. He was a lot more than just one play.

#3364406 Brady's Suspension?

Posted by LinvilleGorge on 12 May 2015 - 01:44 PM

Interesting that the OP chose to say 4 games for 'a joint' instead of 'PEDs' which the Seahawks lead the league in. Six Seahawks caught roiding up, vs. Tom Brady (good person) letting a milimeter of air out of a football would frame the whole cheater thing a bit differently.

Yep, good person.  Always handles matters with the utmost class.

#3363832 Brady suspended 4 games, pats lose 1st rounder in 2016 and 4th in 2017

How do all of you "cheating is cheating!" people feel about this then? Think the punishment was harsh and was a direct reflection of the media and public outrage just because it was Tom and the Pats, this is a non story on an irrelevant team. Total touch-n-go policy by Goodell, that's what this has become.

Last season, the Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings were caught, on a cold day, using sideline heaters to warm up footballs. That's against the rules. You can argue that it's not the same level as deflating footballs in a bathroom, but it has the same effect: something outside of the rules to make the football easier to grip and catch. The Panthers and Vikings were ... warned. That's it.

First of all, both the Panthers AND the Vikings were doing it.  There was no advantage gained by either team.  Secondly, neither team was exactly trying to hide.  Thirdly, there was no attempt by either team to deny it or cover it up.

Don't get it twisted, Brady and the Pats are getting nailed not because they deflated some game balls, they're getting nailed because they're repeat offenders and they tried to cover it up and deny it.
