Gotta adjust your feels about free agency. I know it's hard cuz of all those years of Hurney signings, but what did those 13+ years get us? We were never consistent in that time. Hey we made the Super Bowl woohoo. Next year we crapped the bed. Then yay back in the playoffs then crap the bed in Seattle. Then 3 years before playoffs again, and yet again another crap the bed performance against Arizona.
I'm glad we're trying a new way to build, like the Packers, Seahawks, Ravens, etc. In case you don't know, Seattle started their current 5 year playoff run in 2011 by winning the NFC West with a 7-9 record and didn't get to the Super Bowl until the 4th year of their run. They built thru the draft, re-signed their good players, and yes, signed some key free agents when their team only had a couple holes. We've got more than a couple holes, so no big signings this year.
Always two three years away. Can't win it unless your in it. All this building has to produce something.
You're acting like every playoff calibre team has zero holes. Both teams in the Super Bowl last year were far from perfect rosters. I think we'll be fine at RB even if we don't get another one. Everyone on here talks about how you can plug anyone in at RB, now everyone complains that we only have Stewart, Fozzy, and Tolbert. Not every super bowl calibre team has two premier DEs and an elite LT. I see what you are saying, but I feel the team is closer than you think. Hell, we've played Seattle tough every time we've played them, even with Bell and Bersin on the field and laughable special teams play.
Yeah, that's my list for winning it all. It'd be a difficult task but it I s doable. As a fan the honeymoon is over for me. I was OK with building through the draft but if you let some of the best players you've drafted constantly walk out the door it's always one step forward two steps back. For me I just want to see them take a chance on a guy that could possibly contribute to taking us over the top. As a Panther homer I know that's just a fantasy.
How long does the fanbase think we'll have Cam at this rate if they don't put some serious pieces around the guy. I'll pray for a movie ending but Oher doesn't yet appear to be that guy, maybe moving back to LT will help, don't know. Smoke and mirrors will only get you so far, at some point you gotta pull out the heavy ammo. This team for whatever reason won't pull the trigger.
There is a balance. The 2003 SB team had plenty of free agents. Stephen Davis was a splash when we got him and had a lot to do with us getting there. Just feel they're not making the same effort so that's why I still say show me more before I dare to crown them.
