The slut shaming tone of my post was unintended but understandable considering how poorly I worded it. The current climate of victim blaming in cases such as this is disturbing, no doubt. I only hope that if a crime was committed that the law works for whoever was negatively affected.
Do you see this? The play has been called in the huddle, everyone else is ready for the snap, and LaFell is having to line Gettis up. Cam is literally standing there waiting for his receivers to get to their proper positions. This is why Gettis lived in Rivera's doghouse, and this is why he may not make it back onto the roster. This is inexcusable for a player that has had the playbook for two years. This is why LaFell and Armanti and Hixon and so on all got looks well ahead of Gettis. it's not a question of talent, it's a question of why he's not doing the very basics with literally nothing else to spend his time doing.
Looks like a pretty good NFL qb to me. Doesn't have perfect measurables, but that's being nitpicky, honestly. Probably a top five pick most years and could go number one overall if Kansas City has the pick. Seems to have great football instincts and is a lot better than the recent USC qbs I've seen--Sanchez, Cassel, and Leinart. Just my humble opinion, of course.
Writing off Robert Woods because he plays for USC is shortsighted at best. He's a completely different player than Dwayne Jarrett or Keary Colbert and is still playing well despite an ankle injury that's lingered all season. His skill set absolutely translates to the NFL and he could step in immediately as our no. 2 and eventually grow into a no. 1. I guess it works against him that his teammate is possibly an even better prospect than he is.
That said, wouldn't take any WR in this draft in the top five or maybe ten. There are about three or four that are really good, just don't look at them as AJ Green good.
It'd be very nice to take care of one of the top three/four needs (S, DT, WR or G) in free agency with a QUALITY free agent.
Kenny Philips or Dashon Goldson would be outstanding as far as improving a safety spot. And its not gonna happen but Greg Jennings, despite being nicked up this year, would be a dream. Then they could finally invest in a talented DT in the draft.
Safety is obviously our most talent deprived position but DT isn't much better and if we're picking in the top ten and there's a choice between the two, with equal prospects available, we need to take the lineman.
