#3091578 I don't mind playing for a FG there, but....

Even if Gano would've made the kick, we've seen on too many occasions our defense allows the team to still march into field goal range for the win, and for that reason along, I say it was a bad idea to take the ball out of Cams hands.

#3091427 We can't keep Ron Rivera or Mike Shula heading into bye week after that

Posted by Tarheels23 on 16 November 2014 - 05:05 PM

And I think that was an excellent decision given the circumstances. Gano regularly makes 45-50 yards. We trust him to make them. If he fails, it's on him. However, the plan Rivera had gave a contingency for that (namely, being able to try a short last-second drive provided the defense holds).

If you've watched every Panthers game coached by Rivera since '11, there's no way you would think like this.

I tell you what. Go watch the '11 home game against the Saints. Then watch the '12 Bears game, and after that the '12 Falcons game in Atl, and get back with me.

Is he a lefty though?

#3048074 Tre Boston ?

Tre was in perfect position. Can't beat a good throw. Hell at least he was there to break on the ball. Any other safety on the roster wouldn't have even been in position. Oh, and he was man'd up on the TE with safety help over the top.

Jones made a good play on the ball at the end. I really don't look at that one as a drop.

These comments don't match up with the gif at all. The man took a huge illegal hit, got right back up, stayed aware with what was going on, and may of won us the game with that play. Haters can fug themselves

It doesn't match because most of us realize, his field vision is horrible. He should've called for a fair catch. I'm damn happy he scored, but it was a fluke play.

#3000585 Nice win but it's 0-3 the next three weeks

ATL/49ers/Patriots

0-3 NO WAY WE WIN ANY OF THOSE GAMES RIGHT?

#2986569 Where has star dissapeared to?

Posted by Tarheels23 on 28 September 2014 - 09:14 PM

What I've notice is our DTs are getting doubled while our DEs are being handled one on one.

I am tired of Star and Cole starting together though. It should be Star and KK, or Star and Dwan. Cole and KK, or Cole and Dwan. Star and Cole are the same type of player, just like KK and Dwan are the same. I never got that.

Our interior D, got gashed, and I'm wondering if that has anything to do with Hardy being gone. Not having to double Hardy allows them to focus or on doubling Star/KK/Cole.

His mistakes are much easier to live with than Hurney's, cause he's not afraid to admit to said mistake, and part ways.

#2891290 Harper is starting to get that IR smell...

Posted by Tarheels23 on 15 August 2014 - 10:07 AM

And how much field does a safety need to cover in a goal line situation compared to midfield.

I agree. Just pointing out that he did actually line up at SS. I don't recall that being an option for Captain or any other so called nickel back on our team.

The safety position is my biggest concern on defense. I think DeCoud lines up too deep, Harper can't get on the field, and Lester takes bad angles in the run game.

If Bene continues to show and prove, Godfrey will be moved, and whether people like him or not, I think he's too good and versatile  to not be on the field, especially with our current safety situation.

#2890213 School me on Charles Godfrey and defense

Posted by Tarheels23 on 14 August 2014 - 11:27 AM

I need help on this one.

So Godfrey comes back from injury, and the consensus right away is that the Panthers would like to keep him, but he'd need to transition to Nickel CB. Can someone tell me why?

Does it have to do with his injury? I realize that CB and Safety have different roles. Do safeties do too much pushing and run tackling for someone with an achilles injury?

Does it have to do with depth? More room at corner? If that were the case, I would have expected to see him playing safety, at least a little, with all of Harper's missed time.

Someone please educate me.

Actually Godfrey was playing Safety during the Goal Line stance. Alot of teams are leaning more towards the Big Nickel.
