#2833437 The Big Picture

Posted by OchoNueve on 27 June 2014 - 11:06 AM

Congrats to Mr. Cho in the draft for once again improving the Hornets roster in adding Vonleh & Hairston as well as increasing our financial flexibility.

Post draft & trades, we are only going to be on the hook for $41.9 Million in contracts

(I have input 2014 rookie cap holds for both Vonleh & Hairstons unsigned contracts)

Both Alonzo Gee & Jeffrey Taylor have non-guaranteed contracts next year totaling around $3.9 Million which I assume we will wait until we see which "big fish" we can lure into Charlotte prior to re-signing anyone else or guaranteeing these contracts

This leaves us with around $21.3 Million to spend on free agents...

Decisions:

* *INSERT FREE AGENT HERE* - With $21M to spend we can make lucrative offers to anyone, including LeBron, Melo, Bosh, Stephenson, Lowry, Deng, Monroe, Hayward, Evan Turner, Nick Young, Chandler Parsons (maybe), Josh McRoberts, etc...  The question is which of these guys see Charlotte as a potential contender and would come to the QC?

*Alonzo Gee - Non-Guaranteed and at $3 million, a simple decision whether or not to guarantee his salary based upon how much money we have left after we make our free agent signing.

*Jeff Taylor - Non-Guaranteed and at less than $1 million, I think it is a no-brainer to pick up the option on him.

Exciting few weeks ahead as all these decisions will be made in the next month or two.  Expect a domino effect once LeBron signs with a team and all the LeBron suitors (Hornets included) make pitches for the 2nd tier superstars.  No doubt we already upgraded the roster last night and will soon upgrade further with a relevant free agent addition.  Once this free agent is signed... OUR REBUILDING PROJECT IS COMPLETE and we will be in contention for the next few years.

It is a good day to be a Hornet fan.

Has anyone been listening to Jeff Reed when he fills in?  Holy crap, more of an egomaniac douchebag than Marc James.

He starts off to every phone caller, "Thanks for calling in, not sure if you know, but you're talking to 2-time super bowl champ Jeff Reed..."(listens for 15 seconds to caller)...."Man, that is great stuff, thanks for calling in but did I mention that I was a 2-time NFL Super Bowl Champ?  Not sure if you knew that but I happened to win the Super Bowl.... twice... as the place kicker.  And I don't know if anyone every really said that I was the greatest kicker ever... but I probably am... just for the record.  And sure, I've had some DUI's but I'm still an awesome role model to little kids cause I'm a 2 time Super Bowl Champ and my real hair looks like the hair visors with the fake Guy Fiery hair sticking out the top, it's cool like it was when I went to UNC."

Next Caller

Same as above

I'd be happy with an hour of silence instead of listening to Marc James. I hope they shift Garcia to the later time slot.

Back to the OP, good timing for Marc to leave. With all the guest fill-ins upcoming we will get a lot of Panther info from different perspectives. Hopefully we'll get a Jordan Gross fill-in one day.

#2674799 Clifford Needs to Make a Decision. NOW.

Also, Neal is better than Hendo and we should be starting Neal at the 2

Best 5

Kemba, Neal, MKG, McBob, Al Jefferson

Bench (in order when healthy):

Zeller, Hendo, Jeff Taylor, Tolliver, Ridnour, Biyombo, Haywood, CDR, Pargo

#2674788 Re-draft the Bobcat's Franchise

Posted by OchoNueve on 04 March 2014 - 04:18 PM

How depressing is this "What could have been" thread

Even worse is that when we drafted Felton at #4 we should have had the #3 pick (Chris Paul)

And when we drafted MKG at #2, we should have had the #1 pick (Anthony Davis)

but the draft lottery seems to be unkind to the Bobcats/Hornets

#2674784 Predicting the rest of the season

Posted by OchoNueve on 04 March 2014 - 04:15 PM

Predicting record would be a crap shoot, but I think we can hold the 7 or 8 seed down for the duration of the season.

I really hope we can ****** the 6th seed in the playoffs allowing us an opportunity to play Toronto or the Bulls in the 1st round.

#2666236 Jordan Gross statue?

Posted by OchoNueve on 25 February 2014 - 07:24 PM

Steve Smith is a potential NFL Hall of Famer and some of you think that he is not worthy of the Panthers Hall of Honor?  I think the only real decision is where the statue will go or if we should just go ahead and make 6 statues of him riding the larger Panther statues we have at the stadium entrances.

Sam Mills is a great inspirational story, was a great NFL player, and is a great representative for the Panther's Hall of Honor, but only playing 3 seasons for the Panthers and coaching for 5-6 more, does not hold a candle to the impact Steve Smith has had to our organization.  Up until we drafted Cam, Smitty has been the face of our franchise since 2001 and to think anyone else other than John Kasay or Jerry Richardson himself is more deserving of a statue is borderline ignorant.

#2516012 Cam is a smoldering fire

Posted by OchoNueve on 27 November 2013 - 11:31 AM

Who cares about Cam's stats when we are winning games. He had a lot of critics when he was breaking records statistically, but still losing games. Now that we are winning games, you want to criticize the play calling and personnel around him for why he is not producing the stats that someone thinks he should be...

Beggars cannot be choosers my friends. Be happy with the W's and if they keep piling up for Cam's career as they are this season, he won't need the gawdy stats to become our 2nd HOF'er to Smitty.

#2354423 What is Pie?

Posted by OchoNueve on 04 September 2013 - 09:14 AM

You want to know what pie is?

It's really quite simple... it's kinda like.

"Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
Gonna grab some afternoon delight
My motto's always been, "When it's right, it's right"
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night?"
