In Topic: Steve Smith Is ON WFNZ Having A Confessional, Won't Let the Story End

There certainly is no evidence of such.

But my observation is that short, quick, violent tempers rarely have on/off switches set according to gender.

I was trying to saw Smith might have hit a women.  I don't think that he has or would.  I was pointing out the irony of saying all he did was hit some teammates a few times.  Breaking Anthony Brights orbital socket in a team meeting isn't something one can just gloss over.

Just for the record. Steve never knocked Jake for being emotional.  He was stating it as a difference between the different QB's he'd play for.  Said Flaco never show any emotion, good or bad and that was different from Jake who was very fiery.  It wasn't a slight.

I love Smitty but dude is a drama queen.  When he feels he's been disrespected, it's on.  I'd say that most of us regular folks are disrespected in some from or another every week and as adults we keep our mouth shut because we're not in high school.  Smith has tried to take the high road but being Steve he can't stay on it.  He lets his emotions and lack of maturity get the best of him.

My favorite part of the interview was when he said basically that he wasn't a distraction, that he never hit a women, never got a DUI, yeah, he hit a couple of team mates but he never hit a women.

In Topic: Rivera: Team Will Look for Veteran Help at Running Back

Here is the reality of the situation even if you don't accept it.  You don't have to like it.

The number one problem on offense is our lack of running backs.  When D-Lo or Stewart or Tolbert is healthy we can get by.  We were doing ok running the ball before D-lo got hurt.  This is also the biggest difference that can be make to our offense to improve it.

I don't know that there is really anything out there to add to our offense live that isn't worse than we already have.  We do need some bodies.  Do yourself a favor and do not look at who we have behind Bell and Chandler.  You don't need any more nightmares this close to Halloween.

The O-line just has to improve with the personal we have.  They have to coach em' up and they need to get some confidence.

In my opinion Shula needs to adjust the offense to allow Cam to get the ball out faster and to have more checkdowns.  More 3-step drops.  Also, I really think that we'll do a lot better against a team that runs a traditional 4-3 defense.  Our line gets too confused as to what to do against a 3-4.  They're just to inexperienced and not communicating well when it comes to that.

On the defensive side, who knows.  I know Hardy being out affects the line.  I know TD being out hurts too but I really did not expect our D-line to get pushing around against the run like it has.  And to make matters worse, we can't get any pass rush and when we've blitzed against the Ravens Flaco was already passing to the spot the blitzer  had been guarding.  Blitzing Flacco with our secondary got us toasted but we at that point it we were trying anything to get some pressure.

I do have faith that the defense is something that Rivera and McDermott can fix.

In Topic: Report: Steve Smith asked to be released

28 September 2014 - 11:10 AM

What has happened to the reading comprehension skills of people today?  Or the ability to understand a situation.

Smith was/is a very dominant personality on the team and in the locker room.  He verbally will beat down anyone who doesn't measure up to his standards on the football field and work ethic.  See Dwayne Jarrett or Anthony Bright.

We also know that Cam was aloof his first couple of years, even working out on his own separate to the team.  Cam wasn't used to being part of a team since he constantly moved around to different teams in college.  Florida, Blinn, Auburn.

The Panthers were worried already because of how Steve is in a locker room.  They're trying to create something new and Steve has never been the guy to take anyone under his wing.  He's too competitive.  He can easily hurt the growth of young players.

G-man came in and looked at everything as discussed this being a potential problem with building a new young team.  How would the team address this? All options are on the table.  And G-man said so, which included publicly saying so about Steve's spot.

Or course, Steve probably went ape poo and took it very personally.  When G-man sat down to talk with Steve about all the options concerning him and how he could help or hurt the team it was already too late.

Steve probably started the meeting with that pissed off look and refused to say anything except, "I'm not taking a pay cut, trade me" over and over.  I love Smitty but the dude isn't exactly reasonable.

All of this is also what makes Steve such a great player.  So, we had to pick our poison and weigh all the positives and negatives.  Steve already didn't like G-man, so mentally he was already in a frame of mind to force the issue and not really give the team a choice.

Basically in simple terms, we told Smith we wanted to talk about his future with the team.  He assumed all the worst, got an attitude and forced the teams hand.

He made the Panthers decision to cut him an easy one for management instead of a difficult one.
