All seriousness Charlotte is my favorite city in America. Beautiful and the home of the Panthers.

#2805089 Don't Blow All Your Cash At Once Rookie

Posted by Fiz on 31 May 2014 - 05:43 AM

Almost anyone regardless of age, race, or profession goes broke if they're given a large sum of money after never having any. The nfl has been doing rookie finance symposiums for years, and still the bankruptcy rate for nfl players is around 65%.

I know all the sage randian übermensch in this thread are nodding their heads thinking they'd be different, but odds are you wouldn't be!

I've heard from numerous people that India might be the worst country ever visited

Somehow it's remarkably beautiful and indescribably horrible all at the same time.

As a whole, the country, city of Hyderabad, and people of India are all the worst I've ever encountered and I've been to some poo holes. The food is terrible, the climate is hideous, nothing works, and Indians are impossible to do business with.

Still, I've seen some unbelievable things and I don't regret coming over here. The good things are as good as the bad things are bad.

Honestly it might have all been worth it for the taj mahal and I'm not exaggerating.

#2726655 Ravens reloading Flacco's arsenal this year.

Posted by Fiz on 04 April 2014 - 06:09 AM

The Ravens have re-signed Dennis Pitta and Jacoby Jones, as well as signed Steve Smith and Owen Daniels. These four with Torrey Smith are about as solid a receiving corps as I've seen.

In which century is this as good a wr corps as you've seen?

#2723437 D. Newton: Rivera is right. We don't need a number 1 WR. / OK, OK...

I'll pose the same question to you. Would you rather have our WR corps than megatron? Or aj green?

This is a stupid question.

A better one would be would you rather have AJ Green or Cam Newton.

Funnily though Smith saw Jarrett immediately for what he was. We all remember when he flat out told him to study his playbook more during an interview. Apparently when he went up to introduce himself to Smith (he was told to do this by another member of the team) he stopped mid sentence to answer a text lol.

Smith was like "whelp fug that."

This part

The Panthers strongly believe the way to sustained success is through developing their younger players. Smith was neither young nor someone they believed they could depend on to help develop younger guys. That all played a part in Gettleman’s football decision.

This part I have heard from tons of people familiar with the team, specifically about Keary Colbert and Dwayne Jarrett. At no point would Smith try to help these guys out. In fact, time and time again he'd go out of his way to make sure they knew the pecking order. He wasn't outwardly cruel to them or anything, just passively a dick.

It probably wouldn't have helped with Jarrett. He was a fuging idiot who everyone knew was a fugtard. Hurney just rolled the dice and hoped for the best.

But Keary Colbert really needed that veteran presence. No one remembers he led all rookies in ypc in 2004 when he had Moose holding his hands. Then Moose leaves, Smith comes back and is like "who the fug is this kid?" On his path to one of the greatest receiving seasons ever, Smith made it known he was the top dog and had no interest tutoring Keary. Smith was still young then sure, and hadn't really had his big maturation moment. But he'd do poo like tell Keary to piss off when he and Delhomme were talking, or calling him out in the film room constantly.

Keary melted down.

I'm sure he mellowed out as he got older, but he still never stepped forward to help guys out. One of the reasons they've never drafted a first round WR is that they were worried how Smith would react.
