#2831417 Cards, Clearances, Challenges and Chances. The General Soccer Information Thread

Posted by C47 on 26 June 2014 - 01:41 PM

What the fug is soccer?

Srsly though...  Explain what penalties are.  Like is it like hockey being offsides but no "icing the puck"?

Penalties are when an attacker is tackled in the box and the official deems that the Defender didn't get the ball, or the tackle was excessive. Offsides is when your attacker is further up the field then the last line of defense at the moment the ball is played into them, whether through a lob, through ball, cross etc.

Chuck you literally have zero fuging clue what you're talking about. Just excuse yourself now before you say something really stupid like you would rather play with 10.....

Oops, too late...

#2829598 Suarez bites again!

Posted by C47 on 25 June 2014 - 06:42 AM

The only other thing he's done in a world cup was the handball against Ghana. Which is a part of the game because it is punishable. He received the punishment for that penalty. Its not his fault Ghana missed the resulting PK. Let's just look at the biting when talking about this ban. They will consider the "racist" remarks. However, I think the bigger pussy in that instance is the little Frenchman trying to cry foul when someone said something to you on the pitch. It was not even that derogatory. Focus on his real problem of for some reason getting frustrated enough to bite people.

P.S. there are a lot worse things that have happened in games so don't act like he went studs up to someone's neck or he went all Liu Kang into the crowd. He's just done it repeatedly. Basically simmer down haters this too shall pass. Lol at all my Manchester untied friends talking about each others boners over Suarez's potential ban.

Going studs up is an act of aggressive play. Biting people on the pitch is an act of being fuging bat poo crazy. Sorry, biting someone during the course of a game is much more troubling than over aggressive play.

No no for Kershaw was inevitable. Two years ago I used to make sure I saw every single Kershaw start because I just KNEW it was going to happen that start. Doesn't take anything away from an incredible performance. Hats off to Clayton on a great accomplishment. Call it a hunch, but Clayton will be in position for perfection more than once in his career....

I have to question the selection.

Xabi, Ramos, Xavi, Iniesta, etc were no-brainers but Costa, Casillas, and Pique?

You would have played De Gea over Casillas? I wouldn't have. Think the biggest problem isn't with Casillas, but with the fact that he played zero league games all season. You can't play half the time and then expect to be a stud on the biggest stage.

It was like the play in Miami game on the last drive when Cam got the extra 15 because be fell on that tarp. The Miami player had his hand still on Cam so he put the ref in a tough spot.

Same thing today, Croatian player had his hand in a spot (shoulder) which made the ref make a judgement call. Do I agree with it? No. Even texted my friend who was working saying Brasil got away with one. That'll always be my biggest gripe with soccer, flopping has become part of the game.

That Croatian goalie didn't do himself any favors either. Marcello can breathe again, if Brasil would've lost 1-0 he'd probably be best sleeping with an eye open.

You can try to explain how it was a judgement call, but that doesn't mean it was. It was a pure gift from Fifa, and it was complete bullshit. There was nothing that looked remotely close to a foul and the the official pointed for the penalty without hesitation as if he was told to call it. Sorry, there's no explaining that. Just pure garbage for the host nation...

Got in the Hardline Beta. Looks like it could be good, but the servers were too unstable to really get a feel for it so who knows. Also, psyched for Fifa 15 PC since it's the same engine as PS4 and XB1 PLUS mods. Looking forward to Sony conference. Think they've got a trick or two up their sleeves after a lackluster Xbox showing....

The game play looks exactly the same from last year. Animations still look terrible. And after the tattoo ss they released for Kaep I was psyched but now that it's been revealed he'll be the only guy with tats I'm just so Meh right now. Fan boys will praise because it's Luke, but to me it's poo.

Token threads are pointless. We're actually having significant discussions in all of our threads.

#2809774 2014 Stanley Cup Final...

Posted by C47 on 05 June 2014 - 08:29 AM

West Coast has to suffer some. Start it 4 - 4:30 pm their time. That way when it goes into OT, everyone can see it.

Btw, the actual game didn't start till almost 8:30. Maybe if they actually start the game the time it's scheduled on it might help also.

The game ended before 11:30. I watched the entire thing and some of the post game and was still at work at 7 today (with a 35 mile commute). Starting it at 4 p.m. Pacific would have been retarded.
