#3182653 Should we be the North Carolina Panthers? Map says yes

Posted by pnthrs on 06 January 2015 - 12:29 PM

Tennessee Titans
New England Patriots

Arizona also.

These threads need to stop being posted. These are tinderbox issues. The panthers are imbedded in the Carolina's like it or not. Sure NC feels more ownership since the stadium resides in their state but that doesn't make it more their team. Any owner current or future would be a moron to alienate current SC (and outside charlotte) Nc fans by calling it the charlotte panthers. If charlotte could have supported this team alone than it would have been named accordingly. If SC could have gotten a team without charlotte than same deal. We need/needed one another to maximize market (yes people the NFL is about $$$$$). Let's all just be happy with what we have and our sports peers who enjoy the same team. We are in the freaking playoffs and we are going to hate on our own? Sheesh people.

#2912384 Former Panther legend running for head of NFLPA

He has my support.

The #1 thing to take away from this is if Gilbert gets elected there will be a lockout/strike. He is correct that the owners have a sweet financial deal so by that line of thinking the owners are not going to renegotiate. The "18 regular season game" carrot isn't nearly enough for half of what he is asking. I truly hope he does not get elected or 2015/16/17 is in serious jeopardy.

4 game suspensions would play out nicely for our Sunday night game vs PIT.

#2830911 Five cities you recommend when foreigners to visit the U.S.

Posted by pnthrs on 26 June 2014 - 07:48 AM

Easy 5:

New York
San Francisco ( napa )
Miami
Chicago
Las Vegas

If you want some more fun and some cool cities I would recommend:

Jackson hole
Charleston sc
Baltimore (DC)
Portland
Seattle
Orlando (because cause it know Europeans love themselves some Disney)
Dallas
Boston
New Orleans

I would not recommend Charlotte other than the Panther stadium.

I'm pretty sure St Louis was 14-0 at home before we beat them in double OT in 2003/4.

#2468278 Dumb Niners Fan on reddit puts all his money on niners parlay bet with bengals

224k in winnings on a 65k bet? So he will be taxed on 159k of income and assuming he makes 81k a year (which is likely a given since he saved up 65k to gamble with) he will pay appx 43% tax on it so his 159k winnings turns into 90.63k.  Not exactly enough to buy a place in "The bay area" and PSLs for the new SF stadium.

Just dumb.

#2046083 Something I didn't know about the Chargers this season...

Posted by pnthrs on 14 December 2012 - 01:55 PM

Rosario had a great game if I remember correctly. Caught the winning td. He was a pretty decent receiving tight end at one time.

SD home opener, 2 seconds left, Jake must score a TD to win, hits Rosario in the back of the end zone with a fingertip catch gutting every SD fan alive.

The Chargers fans reaction if anyone remembers this 4 years ago:

#1645500 Classy wife you have there, Tom Brady

It would be funny if Welker's wife came out and said, "What's with that safety and ugly-ass pick Tom threw. I think his accuracy and arm strength are really going to sh*t!"
Edit: not sure if Wes is married.

#1535665 Glad the lockout is over (assuming we got what we needed)

Posted by pnthrs on 26 November 2011 - 03:51 PM

It's not really a huge help and that's why most of the owners were against the deal, it will still pass with a 16-13 vote. Spending is curbed and the NBA has revenue sharing, but it won't stop the Lakers, Celtics and a few other teams from spending more then anyone else. No hard cap = failure for the NBA in this lockout.

I semi agree although I do fully believe that there would never have been a new CBA with a hard cap. That is the players and the owners fault.

Regardless, the Bobcats hired a GM (Cho) who (before the lockout) was/is building our team through the draft by tanking last season (and probably this one.) He specifically stated that having a couple expensive guys on a mediocre team will always net you a 7-8 playoff spot and doom your team to permanent mediocrity since you then never get a good draft pick.

Do I love this system? No. Is it our only realistic chance at a good team? Yeah unfortunately without a CP3 or insanely lucky draft pick.

The good news is there is more money for Jordan to use (from TV contract splitting etc..) and there is more of a luxury penalty for other teams. Even if it only makes a 1% difference I will never be sad my team has a 1% better of a chance to be competitive.

Cho + a young team (Kemba!) + a soon to be early draft picks + a sharper lux tax system = a better overall picture for the Bobcats than a year or 2 ago.

Not everything I wanted but not a total screw over for small market teams. That is how successful negotiating happens. I can live with it. If it doesn't work for small market teams 2-3 years from now look for the CBA to be a 6yr opt out rather than a 10.
