Friend of mine (full disclosure: non-Panther fan but watches the games because he lives here) who likes the WCO thinks that Philly Brown is actually better suited to be a number one receiver in that kind of system than Kelvin Benjamin.

Does he have a point?

Philly certainly has the potential for more YAC which is important in the WCO. To me Benjamin is more of a receiver/TE hybrid. He provides more match up problems because of his size and speed.

Cam is a poor fit for the WCO.

I don't think the division home game set up will ever change.Owners like it and honestly the league is better with it. Think how boring all these NFCS games would be with no one from the south having a chance to go to the playoffs. They will simply add 2 wildcard teams and have only the best record get a 1st round bye.

The draft is a crap shoot anyway. It didn't hurt Seattle a few years ago when they got in with a losing record.

The worse part would be having to buy the playoff tickets. Best part would be giving Saints and Falcon fans poo for being the first team to win back to back NFC south titles.

Nothing we did was about this year really. It is about the future.

Even though we tagged Hardy it was just essentially a one year contract. It wasn't a multi year contract that has cap ramifications past this season. Keep in mind that we have Cam and Kuechly extensions coming up over next two seasons. We had to reserve cap space for those two

We had to go discount window because of our long term cap mess. Last year we hit homeruns with Mitchell, Ginn, Mikkell, and others.

You lose all those guys, plus your starting pro bowl LT, plus Munnerlyn and we had to replace them without committing to long term high dollar contracts. With the price and length we were offering it was going to be impossible to get same value, and we did sign two safeties that are very flawed but had both played in Pro Bowls.

I think he did the best he could. It is hard to evaluate him until we get out of this cap mess and he has a few more drafts (and possibly a coaching hire) under his unusually high on his waist belt

Because of cap hell and two future stars you want to lock up long term over the next two years

This is pretty much what Bill Polian said last night on Sirius/XM, when asked about the job Gettleman was doing. He didn't mention Luke though. Cams contract is big enough to force his hand and require holding back cap room.
