#2920641 Got my first paycheck from the "biggest teacher raise in NC history"

Posted by MadHatter on Today, 07:49 AM

Well, I wasn't actually referring to you...

While I agree that parental involvement is critical in a child's education, if their teacher doesn't give a rats ass about what they're teaching and simply treats it like any 9 to 5 job then the child's education will suffer. Even with the best effort, a lot of parents don't have the education themselves to help their children.

That wasn't what I was saying. There are bad teachers they are a problem.

My point is that even great teachers are limited to what they can do with kids who don't care and parents who don't care.

Having better and higher paying teachers won't be the answer if parents don't understand how critical they are in the process and step up to take accountability for their kid's education.

Good teachers are key...but parent involvement is even more important.

#2919523 Any news about working out Safeties or Offensive Linemen?

Based on all of them clearing waivers, I would expect no signings until Week 1....not having to guarantee their salary.

#2919517 Caplan: Stephen Hill trying out for Panthers today

Posted by MadHatter on Yesterday, 01:03 PM

I've always been a glass is half empty guy, it's something I need to work on. I look at something and feel like it can always be better.

Half empty?

You are more of a "can't even find a glass" kind of guy..... :D

#2919160 Sign Stephen hill you assholes

The Bersin story is a great story, but we aren't in the storytelling business we are in the football business. If you are going to have a WR4 it might as well be a guy with huge upside instead of the guy that just makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Let's be honest, neither would see the field much this year unless there are several injuries

I will take a WR4 that runs great routes, catches everything thrown to him, and has shown promise in the preseason.....over a tall and fast WR who has stone hands and can't catch.

You guys are WAY too enamored by height and speed combinations......if you can't catch the damn ball, then you are a shitty WR.  Plain and simple.

Gotta love the huddle.

Same guys bitching every day regardless of what happened that day.

#2915473 Michael Sam, draft prospect, admits he's gay

Even if the Rams cut Sam, I think another team will pick him up. Guy definitely played well enough to warrant a job in the nfl. Rams are just stacked on the DL.

#2915241 Punt Returner Free Agents

Just for the record, anyone who thinks Ted Ginn was a garbage returner...go look at last years numbers and compare them to 2012, 2011,2010 etc.

All  that proves is that he was better than the heap of garbage we had in 2010-2012.  Not that he was a great returner for us.

Because some people are genuinely good human beings that feel compelled to add their voice to those of the oppressed and downtrodden. While others are completely self absorbed bipedal elephant seals who obsess with proving their self worth to strangers while downing kale chips made soggy by their own greasy tears of unacceptance.

DAMN!!!!!

Flopping throwing down seriously on Big A's fat ass.

#2912836 NFL :domestic violence first offense..6 games ...lifetime ban 2nd offense

Posted by MadHatter on 28 August 2014 - 02:04 PM

Hardy can't get six. You can't punish someone under new guidelines if the infraction pre-dated it.

Not so sure that is true.

First...the verdict would not be until after the rules change.

Second....we are not really talking about the law here.  The punishment by the league does not have to follow the law.

Other than them being the same sec I dunno. What I do know is that the showers in this case aren't at a swingers club. Its part of their profession. I'm a professional actor. I've been in various states of undress, up to & including showering... yes naked, with straight women, lesbians, gay guys, & bisexuals, & checking folks out doesn't really register. You're just getting cleaned up.

Also I'd point out that for most people who use group showers, there's a good chance you've showered with a homosexual & just didn't know.

Thanks for the response....your view is similar to mine on the topic.

The question was actually asked by one of the ladies in our office (she is a big sports fan and saw the article about the showering).  She was asking what the difference really was.  Her comment was that she would feel very uncomfortable showing with a group of men (because they would be showering with the gender that they were attracted to).

lol

He's arguing that other weapons don't fall under the protection of the 2nd amendment and is cutting a sentence in half to try to prove his point.

only in the tinderbox.

But the absolute bottom line is that the 2nd amendment guarantees you the right to bear arms....it does not matter why that right was originally given.

And, I am not a big gun person.  I have one handgun for protection.  It stays locked in a gun safe that has two security locks....one is a fingerprint (wife and I are the only prints that are registered in the safe) and a 4 digit code.  I only take it out twice a year to clean and take it to the range.

#2911454 Stephen Hill for a late conditional pick?

Posted by MadHatter on 27 August 2014 - 10:21 AM

I am not even sure I would take Hill over Armanti Edwards.

Hill's hands are god awful....he drops too many passes.

This ladies and gentlemen is a great example of close mindedness.  Don't have you mind made up regarding an issue without actually looking into it, and if you do be willing to change your mind or you will be like heel31ok, having to cut sentences in half and performing mental gymnastics to sustain your belief.

Actually, you are the one being closed minded.

All the statement about a well regulated militia does is explain WHY we have the right.  The 2nd amendment grants the right (plain and simple)...regardless of why they originally provided the right.

What's so hard about doing what the policemen tell you to do?

Because you just have to prove how tough you are and that no stinking gov't person is gonna tell you what to do.
