#3116274 Bill Voth breaks down Cam Newton's season

Posted by grateflday on 02 December 2014 - 08:07 PM

Can not disagree with this article at all.  We all saw it ourselves.  Cam was looking great in the pocket, then got healthy and our brilliant coaching staff went right back to the pistol offense as a base formation and tossed out the first four games as if they did not exist.

#3111108 Shula going to be Shula...

3rd and 16...RB screen pass...lol. Hell my grandma saw that coming and she's dead!

Don't forget to add....... AND down by three scores with less than ten minutes left in the game.   :hocky:

#3098492 Greg Olsen on first take tomorrow

Posted by grateflday on 20 November 2014 - 11:48 AM

Didn't see the segment.

However, Cam and Olsen may be Bros, the way the way Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall are. And I'm sure they both know, Ron Rivera's an idiot, and a detriment to their careers as well!!

You have to wonder how many others feel the same was as Avant and would like to see a coaching change.  Olsen is a class act but has to extremely frustrated.  I jumped completely off the Rivera/Shula train in the Saints game when in the entire first half Olsen was in the backfield blocking.  I get the O-Line is horrible, but you use one of your other TE's to block and let Olsen run a route.  But nope,,, every down Olsen was blocking.  They took one of our best weapons out of the play ever time.  All that does is help the opposing defense.

#3094865 My Biggest Fear with Cam Long-Term

Posted by grateflday on 18 November 2014 - 10:56 AM

My biggest fear with Cam is we will never have a pro set offense....

The Panthers did the first four games, etc this season and Cam looked pretty good staying in and throwing from the pocket.  Then he got "healthy" , ran for 100 yards against the Bengals and it was back to this pistol formation and running game from the shotgun as the base offense.

Cam would be fine in a pro style offense if the Panthers had a halfway decent O-Line, RB's, more speed at the WR position, and better coaching staff.

#3091676 Does Rivera have a chance at staying another year?

Posted by grateflday on 16 November 2014 - 05:52 PM

If history repeats itself,  Rivera will be retained because JR won't want to pay him for not being here and they will replace the OC in an attempt to do something.  Then when that fails Rivera will be fired.  This is going to run the same course as the John Fox era.

Rivera had no real comment on why Olsen is not utilized more.

Olsen was utilize a lot in the first half..... AS A BLOCKER!!    Every time Cam was in shotgun Olsen was back there in one of the RB positions blocking.  For the life of me I do not understand why they couldn't put one of their other TE's there to do that and let Olsen run a route.

Being a fan of this Panther organization is extremely frustrating.

#3049506 Cam's first-down celebrations really bother a lot of people. Why?

Posted by grateflday on 27 October 2014 - 05:03 PM

.......

But if I had to guess, celebrate a score. Not a first down. People might see it as a dumb thing to celebrate over.

I am along the lines of this.

#3020873 NFL looking into Burfict - evidence courtesy of Mr Igo

Posted by grateflday on 14 October 2014 - 01:43 PM

Fines wont work.... lose of games will.  Otherwise players wont care, to them it will just be the cost of doing business.  They will trade a pittance of their millions to take a star player out any day of the week.    All the people who are not bothered by this, wonder how they will feel when its one of their star players are out due to something like this.  The Panthers got lucky this time, but that does not mean Burfit then gets a pass.

#3005336 Does Hardy come back after 6 games?

Posted by grateflday on 08 October 2014 - 10:18 AM

YES.... he should; because that is what he would have gotten under current NFL policy even if convicted.

#2963004 Panthers will be giving out rally towels on Sunday

Posted by grateflday on 18 September 2014 - 03:32 PM

The Panthers will be giving out white rally towels this Sunday vs PIT. Hopefully this will outcast the number of dirty yellow towels waved by Steelers fans this Sunday.

Per @Panthers Twitter

How about some Panther Blue rally towels for a change!!  and I don't want to hear that white looks better...

either way go Panthers!!

#2961569 NFL Players Association releases statement on Hardy

Posted by grateflday on 17 September 2014 - 06:29 PM

These games should count towards his suspension if he's found guilty. Suspending him again later to like double the punishment. Make him pay the fine equal to 6 game checks and be done with it.

I agree along these lines, at this point.  So based on the NFL policy the way I understand it, is that in Hardy's case and situation if he is actually found guilty by a jury he would get a six game suspension.  So based on where we are now, that is how it should just be.  Let him sit out six games and reinstate him.

#2954964 Steelers prediction thread...lay it out there now

Posted by grateflday on 15 September 2014 - 11:46 AM

The Panthers will lay out the Steelers on Sunday night.  I just do not think they have a very good offense, and expect our defense to have another big night.  The offense will continue to get better game in, game out and score more points.

This team wants to be relevant and a nationally televised game against the Steelers to go 3-0 in dominant fashion is a way to do it.

#2937022 Panther Realities, Week 1

Posted by grateflday on 08 September 2014 - 12:41 PM

As I read through all these posts, I do and do not understand the complaints with the play calling.  Personally, I continue to recall on the drive where Gano missed the field goal ..... they went for the kill on 3rd down; and if not for Anderson just missing Olsen the Panthers go up 24-0.  I also liked when the running game wasn't working well, they were able to pass effectively.  Now,  I do find some of the run plays called questionable at time; but overall I am going to continue leaving my judgement on the offense, play calling, and Shula until I see how this all plays out.

I was mostly disappointed in that the Panthers had to ruin what was mostly a stress free watching day. It would have been nice to either get that extra TD or FG on that drive.  they didnt have to bring that past anxiety experience by turning this game into one where I am thinking "no way they blow this".

Very glad to start this season 1-0 ... for a change!!  Now they need to get better and build on that.

#2881610 PSLs

Posted by grateflday on 08 August 2014 - 02:02 PM

A lot of valid points here. Another question would be when they raze this stadium in 8 to 10 years and build a new one, will your license transfer to the new stadium. I suspect even if it transfers somehow there will be some sort of transfer "fee" that will be imposed.

This has been and is a "concern" of mine.  The positive is I do not think there will be a new stadium here anytime soon, not at least 20 years or so from now, if not longer.  I know people will chime in as to why I am wrong, etc; but that is how is see it.  While the stadium was built awhile ago, fortunately it was done so with plenty of Suites, Boxes, and Club seats (all of what the older placed did not have and they all want).  There are also plenty of seats for everyone else.  That, plus the stadium is nice and I think pretty cool look, feel, etc.  I have been to plenty stadiums over the years all around, and Panther Stadium is not to shabby compared to many others.  Again, opinion.  There is also plenty of room inside for them to eventually do more.

That all being said.... yeah... if I ever find myself in a position where I have to try to get what I have in a new stadium... it will suck.

As far as other posters and that one blasting the PSL.   Bottom line I was living in a city where this is how they did it and I had a choice.  I did not look at is an investment but an expense that the $3k I spent per seat (while it sucked) when you look at that over the 20 -30+ years I will be going to games that was just adding a couple of dollars to the ticket price.

Anyhooo.... cant wait for the home opener...... Go Panthers!!

And YES they do try to give more for being a PSL owner... We also won a fan experience and my son and I were on the sideline, and on the field at the Playoff Game against the Niners during player warmups, intros and anthem holding the US Flag.
