So I had a weird dream last night and it kinda creeped me out a bit. We haven't had a decent topic in The Lounge in a while tbqh, so I thought maybe I'd get input here. Some backstory: My mom's side of the family is your typical, patriarch-centered family. My grandma passed away right before I was born in 1980, but my mom has three sisters and they have all carried on the tradition of getting together at my grandpa's or my aunt's house to visit a few hours every Sunday afternoon. Grandpa is still kicking it at 102. My wife, kids, and I rarely attend the Sunday afternoon get togethers nowadays except for holidays or the occasional random desire to do so. Also of note, I had an uncle that passed away around 10 months ago. So, my dream last night. We were visiting at my grandpa's house on a Sunday afternoon. We're sitting there and a old/unknown car pulls up and my deceased uncle gets out. He walks over, pulls up a chair and sits down. Apparently, though, I'm the only one that can see the car and him. I'm talking to him, and everyone is looking at me like I'm crazy, and I realize nobody else can see him. I have my aunt give me some questions that only he'll know the answer to, and I ask him. When I give them the answers everyone knows I am telling the truth. They start freaking out and crying and all that. I am telling them how he looks good, what he's saying, describing his clothing, etc. Then, another car pulls up. And my uncle gets out of that car too. He walks up, pulls up a chair, and takes a seat also. Now there are two copies of my uncle sitting there with us. I report this to my family members, and we go through a similar process of questions, descriptions, etc. The two uncles don't really acknowledge each other's presence. Then, I notice a car I didn't see before. It is a really strange looking all black car pulled up in the distance. A man dressed in an all black suit with an almost Amish style black hat approaches us all. Like the two uncles before, apparently only I can see this guy. He has long red hair, some of which is dread-locked, and a long red beard. As the man walks up, he apologizes and tells me that this "wasn't supposed to happen." I ask him what he meant, and he shakes his head with a sad look, like he can't really explain what is going on. But then he says: "Someone here is going to die at 1 AM tonight." ...and then boom, I am awake. It was legit creepy. I mentioned it to my wife as I was getting ready for work. For this thread, give me your dream interpretations or share your own weird/creepy dreams.

    Mel Kiper's First 2019 Mock - 01/17/19

If Ed Oliver is still on the board at #13, we better do everything we can to jump Atlanta at #14 and get him. He's absolutely the next Aaron Donald, and I don't want to see him on the other side of the field twice a year. The other guy I'd trade up for is Devin White.

Glad you liked it! I had to go back and wiki some of it because I couldn't remember some of the details. I do remember thinking that the Falconer is one of the coolest villains I've read. The whole Bondsmagi angle is more of a thing in book 3 IIRC, but it comes in a little in book 2 as well. Book 3 reminded me more of something political like GoT, so that might be more your cup of tea, too. Once you get through all three, though, you're stuck like the rest of us waiting for The Thorn of Emberlain!

Where do criminals get their guns

It is kind of pointless for them to differentiate between underground market and theft, when most of the underground market is likely (it even includes it as "stolen goods" in the fine print) the product of theft. I'm not exactly sure what the point of this thread is...
  5. Here's a tip: People with legit sources typically won't repeat anything given to them by said sources, unless it is their job to do so. That's a great way to lose your own access to inside information... sharing it. Also, you have to know the secret handshake.
  6. I thought this was about him becoming a rapper and came in looking for a link to send him some of my beats.

glad you're liking it! And the above is a perfect description! IIRC the fantasy elements do remain somewhat low key so far in the series. There's just enough of a taste that you know it is there. As I mentioned previously, the second book is probably my favorite. So if you're liking LoLL, I hope you find Red Seas Under Red Skies even better too!
  8. Butler should be jettisoned ASAP, even though he looked better in the last few games. He just seems toxic imho. Poe, however, should be restructured. I know it is only a year removed from his signing, but we need him to at least come off $1-2 million dollars to help the team. As has been mentioned, we didn't pay Poe to rush the passer. He's a run stopping piece/space eater, and I think he did a pretty good job of that this year. You only get three post-June 1st designations, IIRC. I expect that we'll use two on Munnerlyn and Kalil. The other I'm saving for Greg Olsen in case he doesn't retire.

  13. I wouldn't count Atlanta out. Georgia's home, and it keeps him in that area. And they can use him. And that lets him see our guys twice a year.

What Are You Listening To Right Now....

Saw that came up the other day and didn't listen. Sounds like a mix of LoG and LP, which I guess it technically is, lol. Not bad, but not my cup of tea either. Still, though... pie

Supposedly this prequel will involve the story of The Long Night. Should be pretty cool. I agree about Dunk and Egg. I was hoping that was one of the things being tabled when they were talking about multiple series, but IIRC it was shot down by GRRM that that would be one of them.

oof on the MIA books. Hope you get them soon! I just saw that the guy that plays Aethelred in TLK, the one betrothed to Aethelfaed (lol this was one of the more confusing things in TLK tbqh, all the "Aethel's") has been cast as a character in the GoT prequel series. Good for him! But, I can't stand that dude's face, now. I absolutely loathe his character in TLK, so I don't know if that will impact how I view him on the new GoT.

I think I do recall thinking it started a bit wonky/slow to me too. I actually tried starting it a few times and kept falling asleep in the first episode and having to go back and restart it. Once you get into the story, though, and know who is who and all that, it ends up being really good. The first season is probably the worst TBQH. The beginning of the second season and then the third season were my favorite moments. I think it is a show where the budget has steadily increased as it has gotten popular, and it shows. There were even times in the first season that I thought the voices/dialogue might have been overdubbed, lol, but it gets way better. Leofric, to me at least, ends up stealing the show in the first season. Uhtred is obviously the lead guy, but he gets better as it goes on too. Later on, I think Finan is my favorite character. Both Finan and Leofric share characteristics of sellswords like Bronn, so I think I am more drawn to them over the typical protagonist like Uhtred.

    I miss John Fox

*chew gum... clap* "it is what it is" John Fox in a few words The guy had JPep in his prime, Kris Jenkins, Dan Morgan, Mike Rucker, Mike Minter, Brentson Buckner, Will Witherspoon, etc. Of course his defense was good.
  21. A lot of people (myself included) have to have some form of cable in order to even have decent internet... Spectrum likes to "force" people into package deals... I'm stuck with Spectrum if I want okay speeds (okay enough to stream) and would lose money if I went with their "internet only" price and had all kinds of apps/internet streams. There is no competitor in my area. Plus, I'd rather watch TV on TV without having to deal with reddit links from a PC hooked to a TV or whatever else. I know it can be done, but I have enough equipment already hooked up, lol. At one time, I pretty much was "internet only" with them at about $49.99 a month. At the time, I also had Netflix, Sling, etc. and my total bill was around $89 a month with internet/everything. Now, I get their basic digital cable tier, all the HBOs, Showtimes, and Cinemaxes, and really fast internet for just over $100 a month. It isn't bad while I'm on this promotion, but I'll be cutting the cable again when it expires. They are so afraid to lose customers that you can usually force their hand into a better deal rather than getting little to nothing from you. But, it is a hassle to have to do it regularly, and their service can sometimes leave a lot to be desired. Their app is pretty terrible btw, on Roku at least, and I lean towards over the air for important things like Panthers games. If not for the basically free premium channels, I would be back on apps only and relatives' logins for some content.
  22. This won't work on the Spectrum app, if that is what you're talking about. For their app, they use your modem's MAC address to verify. If you try logging in with someone else's info, I've been told it can cause some problems. That said, there isn't anything preventing you from using someone's cable provider login information for any other apps.
