Quarterback Possibilities for the Carolina Panthers

Recommended Posts

If Cam isn't ready next year we need to just shut him down. Look at what the Colts did with Luck.

It sucked donkey balls but Luck finally got healthy. Cam hasn't had the time he needs yet for the inflammation to go down in his shoulder enough to where it's not flaring up weekly.

I'd be of the mind to do this: If Cam looks like he's going to play next year get Tyrod. That way we have a serviceable backup for Cam when he plays for the majority of the year.

If Cam is out for the year we are fuged anyways and might as well bottom out/develop young talent. Roll with Allen or draft a rookie.

Newton, Flacco (assuming he’s cut), Allen should be our QBs. The end. If it doesn’t work and need a new QB..then you draft a QB in 2020.

If Cam is down next year I’d rather tank with Allen; who I can’t believe people think is the answer, I don’t see him as more than a back up than go say 8-8 with a vet from FA.

With Cam out it’s imperative to get a high pick for 2020 for his most likley replacement/insurance.

I assume the poster who say roll with Allen are ok with tanking the season for a high pick.

To be fair you have less to support your claim that he sucks than people do to support the claim that he doesn’t suck.

I don’t think there’s anything supporting any side you take with him. He is a huge ??? right now. But it’s extremely rare to have an undrafted QB come in and play like a future franchise QB...not saying it’s impossible of course, he is only 22 but he looks to me like a back up in the nfl and that by no means he sucks.

Being comfortable going with Allen means to me you’re comfortable with tanking. If you are on the side of wanting an OK game managing QB from FA seems you’re in the camp of trying to go 8-8 or by chance 9-7 and scratch and climb into the playoffs just to say it wasn’t a failed season.

Something tells me Rivera will go with the latter. I’d rather tank.

From what we've seen (admittedly small sample vs team not goin at 100%) I'd say he MAY be the guy that could lock down the backup spot, certainly not our future, but thats fine.  I could see him comming in and doing enough to win some games, especially if we solidify our Oline, we have weapons to lean on to carry the load.  And if we were able to get the D straight so we dont need to win shootouts.  Say Cam isnt ready until mid season, I could see Allen winning 4 games maybe and keeping us in the running for when Cam could step back in.

You do realize that Cam could not throw a ball 20 yards in December, right?

I remember you saying it was overblown and he was lobbing bombs in practice not too long ago....after speculation of his shoulder injury began. It seems a little peculiar. I didn't expect this thread from you. No disrespect intended. I'm grateful for the service and the insider access you provide.

Hold this Kyle Allen kid as the benchmark and draft someone comfortably if we think they're better (but past round 2).

Brett Rypien and Gardner Minshew look just as good as these other guys.  Take a stab at one of them and if we sit Cam, we'll probably get a top-5 2020 pick or on the flip side, we find a diamond in the rough in a rookie or Allen.  Hurney and Rivera go on a long walk out of town and the franchise reboots entirely in 2020.

Allen is ok I guess. He needs to put some muscle on though. Tyrod and Teddy suck, no thanks. If there is a solid FA available you have to pull the trigger. Allen, FA, and draft a project.

I would get Joe Flacco in Free Agency. Keep Kyle Allen for depth. And would draft a Will Grier for more depth to get us situated well with the QB position and let Cam take as much time as he needs to get his shoulder 100%. If that means sit an entire year like Andrew Luck I am for it 100%

Drafting a QB just to say you did regardless of the quality of the draft class is what the Browns did for years.

It's not like they didn't miss on multiple QBs over the years...

    • I definitely understand the go back to where you came from line as it relates systemic racism towards blacks that were brought over here on slave ships. Black people didn't ask for asylum...they did not flee their country to get here. They were brought over here against their will. Tortured. Abused. Separated from their families, and breeded. It is awful. I've heard racist hillbillies and Yankees say go back to Africa and that's awful and very racist in that context. I do believe this context is different. When there is someone (Omar) who seeks asylum in this country..and they've been afforded great opportunity...which she has. Then you would think there would be a little more appreciation for the country ( by country I dont mean white people)that allowed her and her family asylum. It allowed her family to escape a grim fate.  It doesnt mean she has no voice or cant voice her opinion to improve our system. But to systematically hate on the country that brought you in and gave you a future seems peculiar and ill-advised. See Omar can play this race card. The truth is....it wouldnt matter where the person came from. The same line in proper context would be said to a white South African man who said the same things. If anything people with non white ethnicities are protected politically from a lot of criticisms.  This group of congresswomen are using race as a cover and a shield. Weve seen this with Pelosi. If Pelosi was Hispanic and made her criticisms we would have not have heard AOC play the race card. Even her own party spoke out against that. I do have a problem when you cant criticize someone without being referred to as a racist. Equality is when were all criticized and rewarded in the same fashion. If you spent any real time with me you would see I'm very open minded. Open hearted. Non judgemental and caring. You will see me talk and care about anyone. I understand that a lot of people are trying get to the U.S to find a better life. As would I...if I was in a desperate position.  There are a lot of people who are heartless towards immigrants and only see them as a drain on the system. I am not one of them. However I do see the hypocrisy that Congress is operating by. There has been a lack of funding towards border patrol voted against by congress that has exacerbated some of the crowding issue. Also there is no fluid path to citizenship. Another congressional issue.  I do not get mad at Americans who are struggling themselves for being forced to subsidize others that dont carry their weight in taxes. I understand that frustration. Also I do not get mad or hate illegals for trying to find a better life. There needs to be a balance here that there isnt. There is no middle ground anymore as everything now in politics appears to be two extremes.
    • So, you start a thread hoping to elicit some response from the critical thinkers on this board, who quickly debunk what Fox News told you to believe. And this is what you come back with- no facts, no evidence, no support. Instead, you opt for saying stupid sh!t because you can't argue policy, facts or reason. Well done, just like Trump himself. He'd be proud of you.
