(UPDATE) Peter King lists the Panthers as one of four possible trade destinations for Steelers WR Antonio Brown

Recommended Posts

Here's what I don't get about the Cam haters.  You can't keep him off the field.  He signed a contract for less than he's worth so the team has a better chance of winning.  He plays injured, so injured he can't throw a pass 20 yards down the field.  He wants to win.  He sacrifices to win.

And here's a player like Antonio Brown, who gets his feelings hurt because JuJu gets praised or Rothlisberger criticized his route running, so he sits out a game that might have gotten the Steelers in the playoffs?  Are you kidding me?'

I'll take players like Cam all day, no matter how talented players like Brown are.

I could see AB landing in Houston with DeAndre Hopkins....

Jesus, that would be scary.

Who knows what Tepper might do at this point?

But the Panthers now have the best receiving corps they've had since Smitty and Moose were together.

No doubt, AB would be an upgrade, but with so many areas of need on this team, WR shouldn't even be on the menu.

This.

Unless Brown can slip into the secondary, or bulk up and play OL or DL, we have other positions that need some focus.  We may even need some depth at WR, but Brown is well beyond providing that.  It is like needing a second vehicle, deciding you have use for a pickup truck, and coming home and showing the wife your new Kenworth.

The misinformation is ridiculous. The Steelers won week 17 with no Brown, the reason they missed the playoffs was because the Browns didn't beat the Ravens. Brown knew because JuJu lost the Saints game that week 17 was pointless because no matter what the Steelers did, Brown knew the Browns weren't winning in Baltimore.

“Spent profusely on cam newton weapons”

the hell is he talking about?

Matt Kalil, amirite?

I mean he is a weapon for Cam, like a “grenade that accidentally goes off in your hand and permanently disfigures you” kinda way.

As for the future, the Steelers have time to let the situation cool off. The start of the 2019 league year is nine weeks away (March 13). I’d let this thing simmer down. In mid-February, Mike Tomlin could quietly meet Brown in some private place in Florida and they could have the face-to-face they’re going to need to have if this relationship can be salvaged. It’s worth salvaging; Brown, 30, is a dominant and affordable player, at $38.9 million over the next three years. But if he won’t agree to Tomlin’s way, all the way, Brown should be traded.

Who would trade for him? I’ll give you possibilities: Oakland (with four first-round picks in the next two drafts and a coach who won’t fear the distraction), Carolina (though the Panthershave spent profusely on Cam Newton weapons, here’s one that could make the Panthers two or three wins better);

What does it matter if Cam can't complete a pass more than 30 yards downfield? The Panthers don't need weapons, they need a quarterback who isn't hamstrung by a bum shoulder. If Cam doesn't get hurt in Pittsburgh, the Panthers bounce of that loss and come back and are playing in the Divisional Round of the playoffs this season.

I bet no one knew how badly we missed the deep ball until they saw Allen hit Samuels, something we all envisioned happening this season but with Cam, until it actually finally happened. People keep saying DJ Moore isn't a real number one. In his rookie season he looked the part of a future superstar to me. His run after the catch ability and his ability to get open is great. And then you have Samuel and Funchess who are both quality guys when Cam can move the ball downfield.

What made the Panthers so dangerous in 2015? Ted Ginn. He stretched the field vertically which created space between the backend and the front. This season, the field was compressed despite having speed because Cam couldn't get the ball downfield.

I believe that the only reason the author even wrote this article to make the connection is because of Tepper. We don't have the Cap Space to be signing an Antonio Brown type player who won't be used correctly without a healthy Cam Newton.

If Tomlin can't do anything with him what makes you think Rivera could handle him?

I suspect 89 was easier to be handled by the Ravens than by the Panthers at the end.  Part of that was simply the Panthers kicking him to the curb.   Him no longer having that long history of enablers under the same roof with him and a fresh start.  Next team often can have an easier job.   Little to do with Harbaugh vs Ron.

The poster knew that, I believe. I think what he was saying is that AB chose to be a selfish diva even though he absolutely knew that the Steelers needed that game to have a chance of getting into the playoffs.

Cam after the Pittsburgh game had an MVP type performance in Detroit? Then after the Detroit game had another great game vs. Seattle? Uhm?
