You would think he would have learned something valuable getting Beathard coffee for a decade.

He was a reach at 85 in the draft. He showed some good skills playing close to the LOS but was undersized to be a small LB/box safety but lacked athleticism to play in space. But they liked what they saw on tape and they were patient with his development. How does he repay them? Complaining about playing time last year, got sent home from practice this summer, hit Jarius in training camp like it was a live game and then has bonehead penalties that hurt the team.

Well, Beathard liked to trade future first-round picks

3rd round pick

THIRD

ROUND

Thought I'd share this information...if you believe numbers any DB we selected in the 3rd has a 24% success rate, I like most scratched my head at the selection on draft night, however almost anyone we would have selected here based on the numbers was likely to have a similar fate.

After you get past the success rates of the first two rounds (64% in the first, 46% in the second), there isn't a huge difference in success (24% - 3rd, 11% - 4th, 17% - 5th, 8% - 6th, 11% - 7th)

Historic Success Chart

3rd Round - OL (40%) TE (39%) LB (34%) DL (27%) WR (25%) DB (24%) QB (17%) RB (16%)

These are always bittersweet for me. Hate to see a young man lose his job and potentially his NFL dream, but this had to happen. He's a liability anytime he's on the field. Pushing a ref probably sealed his fate.

Ya, gotta feel bad for him as a guy. That’s probably why the refs didn’t toss him though. Went from on a 53 man roster to waived and a huge fine coming up.

And here come the excuses we always get.. Nithing s ever anyone’s fault. Which is why this organization is the way it is. Acceptance of incompetence as the normal. And supporting it.

Marty originally cut his teeth working with the Redskins. For a while, the Redskins had a thing where they would just pick players they thought were really good athletes and then figure out what to do with them later.

Gaulden strikes me as that kind of choice. And heaven knows Ron Rivera loves to experiment with position flexibility.

Most successful teams take system fit pretty seriously in their drafting process. I'm not so sure we do.

Granted, we kinda did this past offseason but then we aren't running the system we were supposed to be drafting for, sooo...

He is a below average athlete by NFL standards where at his position you are routinely called the most athletic position in the NFL.

reaching for a guy we though we could convert into another position...in the 3rd.

Now we're watching to see if Samuel can find a place to make an impact on plays other that jet sweeps and end arounds.  And he was pick #40,
