Panthers will get nothing for Newton after signing T.B.

As long as more than one team is interested, there's a chance to get something in return.

It might not be much, but it will be more than nothing.

I agree with everyone that it sucks that we will likely get nothing for cam, but just out of curiosity when do you all think we should’ve traded him to get some value?  His health has been in question for three years. With all these other quarterbacks available why would anyone take a chance?

That's why you let him play out his contract which is cheap at the position. He would be motivated to prove his fitness earn a contract elsewhere.

If Tepper doesn't like him and wanted to move on then at least cut him early. This method is disrespectful to the face of the franchise, gives him no chance to find a team and minimizes returns.

Another stupid move. Sign Bridgewater knowing that no team will give up anything of value for Newton now. They will just wait until they  release him ( which they will), and get nothing in return.

Don't understand WTF this organization is thinking.  Bad moves on a consistent basis time and time again. Just a sh$t show.

I don't understand why we are dropping Cam to sign Bridgewater in the first place; other than Bridgewater worked with Brady in New Orleans. Cam is the superior athlete, superior player, and superior presence in the locker room.

If you are going to get rid of Cam, trade him, suck for a reason and draft Lawrence. For the love of god, you were given a 7 year contract to rule Rhule.

Still makes sense to trade for him. If he hits the open market, he's going to want a multi-year deal to sign. Plus, no guarantee he signs with your team. Trade 3rd for him, you have him for a year,  then you decide what to do with him.

Could work out well for Cam too. If he plays a year healthy, he'd be in a good position to hit FA next year.

Hearing the Bears may make a trade for him since they don’t want to get into a bidding war if Cam is released in a few days!

I do understand that - but if they did that they guarantee they get nothing because he is a FA.  At least this way they have a chance.

Bridgewater may be the superior decision maker & pocket passer at this point in time.

I'm gonna move a little further away from you now.

(you know, social distancing...virus concerns and such) :)

What would they give us?

I haven't seen any details like that - can't be too much.  I could see a LB or CB and a late draft pick.  Or maybe a 3, 4, or 5th rounder.  They have 2 QB spots open now that Chase Daniel signed with the Lions.

After watching Cam all these years there is no doubt in my mind this is true.  I don't see how any rational person could disagree with this.

I would argue he would garner a comp pick and if he put the team on his back as he has many times his trade value the following year would be significantly improved.

They have almost no chance of getting anything for him in this scenario because of his recent history and Corona meaning he can't prove his fitness.

Its a worse case scenario for everyone. I can only guess that a man like Tepper who made his fortune in handling assets, deeply dislikes Newton and wants rid of him at any cost.
