Or d) wait until a starter goes down for the season, a team panics and signs him to a big contract.

Ok.  That's like playing the lottery instead of getting a job.  If that's his plan, good luck I guess.

Good for dalton, def rather take a flyer on him than teddy but it is what it is.

Cam isn’t signing unless a starting job is on the table, a team also would want to check him out. Idk how many times that needs to be stated.

a backup job would be his last resort and should be if the season is delayed, with no tc ect guys could drop like flies due to soft tissue injuries

Hasnt there been plenty of players signed with injury histories who were checked out by independent doctors? For example Gurley and Gronk.

Todd hasn’t taken his physical yet as of 4/20 and idk if Gronk needed one, he ended his last season healthy, he didn’t have any major health concerns.

that said, he’s going to waiting for a starters job, which may or may not be smart we’ll see

Another starting QB taking a small one year deal.

Small?

Middle of the range is $5,000,000...that ain't small.

I wondered if a "who gets signed first Dalton or Cam" thread would be started but Andy was pinned down in 3-days...interesting.

PS...good for Jerry --- QB's getting schooled these days!

It’s almost as if we jumped into a market all by ourselves and outbid everyone. Bridge QBs sign for $1M, $7M and unsigned and we pay $21M for 3 years. Heck, we also cornered a weak WR market before the deepest WR draft in history. We seem to mistime everything. We jump through hoops to take a sucky tackle at 37 last year instead of stud C/Gs like McCoy and Jenkins and not waste pick 77 when the same or better prospect Josh Jones goes at 72 this year’s deep T draft.

I liked this year’s draft but there’s a reason why we need a new GM. He sucks at timing and value, especially in FA.

20 mil a year for a veteran starter is pretty cheap.

Remember when Cam said he was definitely coming back as our starter and the huddle lost their minds?  Good times...   Haha!!

Before being selected by the Bengals in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft, Dalton played at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. He lives in Dallas and will not have to move his family during an offseason that has been made uncertain by the coronavirus pandemic.

Dalton took this deal to stay home with his family.  He is signing on as a backup.

Winston decided to be a trainee in NO.

We signed Bridgewater to be a starter and paid a lot less than the going money for a starter  (who knows the OC and the system).  I don't see where there is much to complain about.

Odds of a starting QB going down are much better than the lottery. Man has made 120 mil as an NFL QB, plus millions in endorsements, he can afford to wait.

Most teams have a competent second string QB.  They go that route instead signing Cam.  If a team somehow has their top two guys hurt, then he may get a shot.  If Cam was such a hot commodity he would be signed already.  Comp picks are no longer in the equation, so that's not an issue.  A physical? I'm sure if a team wanted him bad enough they could get a physical worked in somehow.  The reality...Cam can wait, but it may hurt him in the long run.  If waiting for an injury is his winning bet, whereby some team throws money at him out of desperation, then he may sit out the entire season.

This is a rare predicament no team is in dire need of a quarterback as of right now

That's because the rules now make it a huge penalty, so QB's can play forever. Case and point, Cam was the only QB that wasn't covered by those rules, and he's the QB left unsigned.

Is it guaranteed that he'll be picked up even if that does happen, though?

NFL.com had a discussion about Newton a while back, and both Jeffri Chadiha and Jim Trotter said a team would have to build their whole system around Newton's skill set for it to work. Do you so that for a midseason replacement?

Some of you are acting like these teams want to try to get to 7-9...which is probably what Cam does to DEN, Jax, etc....

Jax is tanking, just not saying it.  NE looks like the are tanking to me, just not saying it.

Cam is likely going to be lonely for a while from the looks of it.
