Knock on wood, this entire draft class seems legit so far. Add another similar class in 2026, and we're finally on the right track.

(Potential) Top 2026 HC Candidates
PanthersNCSU replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Tepper move is 100% to want Belichick thinking that fixes our problems after striking out so much Let's see how much more he can screw up the franchise when JordON and Nicole are assistant GMs -
Obviously a crazy jump straight to HC, but he's the one guy I'd think could (eventually) do it. There would be rough patches, but put a former HC on his staff to help. Ron would want no part of Tepper again, and doubt Wilks would unless one of them just did Luke the solid of a lifetime. Build a time machine, keep Wilks as HC, hire Luke as his LB coach, transition to DC, and now he'd be ready.

Rico to a RB needy team like the Cardinals could work XL to anyone willing to take a chance Not much else IMO
-
I *think* he does though. Obviously until Tepper changes his mind or we end up 1-15, but I think Dave was told he has three years. The part that kills me with that though, and maybe makes it untrue, if you have 3 years...why play scared? Why run on 3rd and 10s? If you don't trust Bryce, throw him to the wolves and let Tepper see he's the obvious problem...but play normal football instead of scared. The whole operation is insane. For whatever reason, I still trust Morgan and Tillis for another year. But everybody else? Woof.

But Scott can communicate!!! - Evero And get a tripping penalty on a 3rd and Goal from the 30 to allow a first down. Until Nick Scott is cut or on the bench, Evero is an unserious coach incapable of changing.
-
Could be said for a lot of coaches here, but also as far as Evero goes... Didn't develop DJ Johnson or Jammie Robinson Trevin Wallace still has hope, but that's fading fast and Payton Wilson was on the board. So far, Wallace looks like depth/ST at best. Crumedy is a 53rd man on a bad roster. Chau Smith-Wade has been solid And this year...Canales has basically said to play the rookies, so we'll see. I have hopes for all the defensive rookies and think they've all shown promise. But...how much of that is actually *finally* drafting a good player vs. anything Evero did in a couple of months? As far as offense goes? Whoof...might somehow be even worse.

Don't see how or why our scouting department hasn't been gutted. The draft is hard...but the Huddle could literally put up polls and be better than our scouts.

Map/Mock-up the Panthers path out of the cellar
PanthersNCSU replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wonder if Flores will get HC consideration or if he's blackballed after his lawsuit... I'd be down to even trade for him as Def. Coord, and there's your HC in waiting if/when we fire Canales next year since I don't think it's this year. Bring in a vet stop gap QB (again), draft a guy in the 2nd/3rd. Draft true BPA and pray we learn how to draft Pray the QB works out, if not, you've helped assemble the team around him for 2027. -
He's going to get the same little play we ran for David Moore to open the game at some point and that's about it. Hell, if nothing else, run a straight line and try to trick Miami into thinking Bryce can hit that pass to open up TMac a little.

Waiting on Vikings fans to turn on KOC. Trade for him and bring Brian Flores with you.

Obviously too soon to tell on some of DM's draft picks. There's a lot to be excited about IMO with young guys (All draft picks this year outside of Etienne), and last year's is a mixed bag. 1 and 2 look like busts which he needs to own, but Chau, JT if he can stay healthy, and trading for Mike Jack were all good business in last year's draft. Trevin is the wildcard. Been hot garbage, but improvement. Doesn't help when the Huddle identified better players in a lot of the spots, though. Free Agency I think has been decent. I think he's filled what holes he can while not being crazy. I think the defensive players we signed this offseason were again good business, but I'm also worried Evero may ruin them. As for Canales, the locker room at least seems to believe and is still saying the right things. Patience is obviously running thin, and I don't love a lot of Canales, but until there's mutiny I just think he gets another year and likely another QB to prove it. One part of me is on team blow it up again. But another part is stuck on just being patient and letting it play out. Unless we get a Tomlin/Vrabel proven coach, another GM and Coach combo just feels exhausting at this point. A good QB covers a lot of ills, but so does a good coach. Chicken or the egg, and frankly I don't have confidence in Tepper to hire another coach anyway.
-
I do think we'll be "patient" and give Canales and Morgan another year. I like some of the things DM has done, and I like Canales to an extent. Would like to see what they do without Evero and Bryce, but also may just be re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Oh I'm not a fan of Idzik calling plays after the preseason glimpse, but earn your keep. Dave can call one good drive a game...and then shits the bed. I would hope anyone in the building could be capable of the same. Canales is too nice IMO. I don't think a coach needs to mother fug everybody, but he needs to be capable of it, and sometimes, during the game would be nice. Instead we clap and spout positivity and say we're learning.

With the 1st Pick in the 2026 Draft....
PanthersNCSU replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dante Moore is the guy if he comes out. McShay is in love with him, but wants him to stay another year. Grab Caleb Downs, get a 2nd round QB, and keep drafting QBs every year until you find one. -
Canales needs to hand off play-calling duties ASAP. Only thing that can save him at this point IMO. Let somebody else call the plays, and go coach to save yourself/your system. He's not Andy Reid or Sean McVay...he can't handle calling plays and being in charge.
-
Cade Mays should've been the center from the jump. He was Bryce's guy to end last year, why change that up? Also, Canales saying after Week 1 to play the young guys on defense might've been the best thing for us/Evero. Scourton, Princely, and Ransom all show up.
-
We win 30-0 and Bryce didn't turn the ball over. And people are still finding ways to complain? Never change, Huddle.

ESPN's Benjamin Solak on Bryce Young
PanthersNCSU replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've listened to some things that have calmed the "Bryce was flat out terrible" to just "he was really bad" in Week 1. It's Year 3 though, and that shouldn't be the barometer. I've got 1% hope left for Bryce, and that's just blind homerism coming out. I'm scared that as much emphasis as the team places on advanced stats and PFF that the team *doesn't* think Bryce was that bad in Week 1. Couple that with so many of the QBs in the league looking rough, offense being down in general, and I feel like there's a lot of "what if's" going on in the building instead of facing the music. Lose Week 2, and we should switch the main focus back to building/churning the roster, evaluating young guys, and hoping our next QB can have a Jayden Daniels level of impact. As we're all well too aware of, QB is a crapshoot a lot of the time. Admit we made a bad pick, and go draft another. And another. Repeat until correct. -
I’m trying to be positive on Bryce Young, but….
PanthersNCSU replied to LegioX's topic in Carolina Panthers
I may be completely off base, but he reminds me a lot of Baker beyond just the Oklahoma connection. Roughly the same size, little bit of the same recklessness. Don't think he's a perfect prospect by any means, and frankly he's another undersized guy who's mechanics can get funky. I could see Canales wanting him for obvious reasons, but I could see us being scared of a "little" guy again and going after a brick shithouse of a QB. -

Good OL, good RB, TMac...*maybe* some young guys if they turn into something. The cupboard is at least not bare for the next QB to come in and have some success. Nussmeier, Sellars, etc...come on down. -
Found myself all game just saying "throw it to Tet"...because I don't trust anyone else. At least we might finally have a #1 WR. Now to find a QB. Again.

Watching 2024 week 1 Cannales Presser again
PanthersNCSU replied to Newtcase's topic in Carolina Panthers
Canales will get the chance to pick his QB next year. Unless Tepper goes full blown Tepper and hires Belicheck or some poo. -
Welp, at least we're getting the definitive answer on Bryce early this year. Either magically win next week or start warming up Dalton and Hooker.
