  1. Honestly I feel like DW needs to just stay away from media, especially social media, until he has had an opportunity to cool down and reflect. I am the damn poster-child of regret for doing things in the heat of the moment and letting my emotions get to me. The Internet is a mean, mean black hole of negativity and hatred and he shouldn't expect a bunch of hugs on there right now. It's only going to get worse and then NFL network and espn will show the tweets and the Panthers are going to be shown as ugly and then the teams PR will have to go on the offensive and just...stop. Just stop DWill and keep your dignity and air this poo out another day if you feel it necessary.
  2. So this organization builds a statue and a motto for a guy that only played here for a handful of seasons because he exemplified courage; They rally around that player and Mark Fields with a bunch of 51/58 shirts in the 2002/3 season; The owner gives Greg Olsen use of his private jet for his sick family; The coach and GM attend the funeral of CJ's grandmother; They back Deangelo Williams up during his campaign to add pink to uniforms in honor of breast cancer awareness; And then his mom passes and they give him a big fug you? Now I don't think DW is just making things up, but I just can't believe it. We are a middle of the road football team that's never been extraordinary in part because we value high character over high football skill. He also mentioned that he was actually cut last week in his meeting too.
  3. Could be but I doubt it. Gettleman always says how he is a film guy, and mentioned he hadn't gotten much of a chance to look into film yet. I suppose if between his interview last week and today he looked at a lot of film it's possible.
  4. I can't hit the bottom, but I beat up the sides somethin awful. Girth all day.
  5. I'll go if Igo promises to bring his HD camera and snap pictures of me in my banana hammock for All-Pro Huddlers only. I'll bring football pads and face paint if someone wants to double with me in a "Legion of Doom"-themed shoot.
  6. There is nothing in Gettleman's history to indicate he won't happily pay a player in his prime his fair market value. Tedd Ginn, Brandon LaFell, Mike Mitchell and even the venerable Steve Smith were all meh players he let go. One could argue that in Gettleman's brief body of work the only player that he has faced with needing to pay that was elite and in his prime was Greg Hardy, and Gettleman paid him while having extremely limited funds. Gettleman will pay Cam what he is worth without crippling the franchise. Cam will be here another 5 years minimum (unless he sucks and gets cut), and that's all there is to it.
  7. I wanted Marcell Dareus or Patrick Peterson. It was in no way because of Cam's history or some sort of 'Cam-hate'. I wasn't sure Cam's skillset would translate to the NFL. However as soon as we picked him I ordered a Cam authentic jersey and framed the USA today issue that had him on the cover of the sports section. I also bought tickets to his first game in AZ to see his first NFL start. Some of us say I want this guy or that guy and as soon as someone else is picked immediately get on board with it. Once you are on the Panthers, you're my guy. If you could see the draft chat room transcript for when we picked Luke Kuechly you'd laugh your ass off. I was raging pretty good in there because we already had an all pro linebacker in Beason.
  8. I've been wanted one of these guys with a cool name for a while, so I'm on board with this pick. Yes, I do my drafting based on cool names and dreadlocks.
  9. At least we can have civil football discussions here on CH without people attacking one another personally. /sarcasm
  10. Culliver got destroyed in SF's super bowl a few years back, and hates women and gay people. Not sure if the FO looks in his direction but I could certainly be wrong.
  11. As a Dubs fan of like to throw the Adonal Foyle and Andrus Beidrins contracts in for consideration.
  12. My post wasn't knocking Hardy at all. He may very well be willing to make some concessions to come back, I don't know. I'm saying his trip to the PTO list worked out well for him because even if he does get suspended without pay next season, it'll be at a per game check rate that is significantly smaller than what he would have had to pay this past year.
  13. I love Greg Hardy and hope he comes back and plays for the Panthers. He is one of my favorite players and I love that he is insane. But let's not forget something very important. His trip to the commissioners exempt list was negotiated by the league, the panthers, and Hardy's agent. Greg could have said you know what I did it I'm sorry give me a misdemeanor and a deferred judgement where it goes away after 3-5 years if I complete sensitivity and anger management courses and stay out of trouble, suspend me six games without pay, and I'll see you in November. His own agent helped negotiate him getting on the list because he wanted to continue to get paid during this whole thing. Now if he comes back at a reduced salary of say $8MM or signs a 5 year deal with a team where year one doesn't pay him as much, then that was a smart move because then if he gets a suspension, each game check he will lose will be substantially smaller. If you don't think Hardy's lawyers and financial people thought of this well before any of us did you are crazy. He wasn't sitting on the curb on mint street just begging to play because he is so black and blue awesome. This so far has gone down perfectly for Hardy.
  14. If your boss likes you enough to give you carte blanche use of his private jet for your children's medical needs, then I'd think he'd at least listen to you when vouching for the integrity of someone else.
  15. Only problem is the NFLPA is weak and the NFL is strong.
  16. Again, in my post I said that in order to suspend Hardy, I think the NFL needs the court documents. This includes bench trial transcripts and police reports. You keep using the word "proof". The NFL is not a government entity. They are a business. They are a business that collectively bargained with their union workforce to give the commissioner the authority to make a judgement call (again, not a proof call, a judgement call) when suspending players for conduct that the commissioner believes to be detrimental to the league. I am not saying I agree with it, but it's reality.
  17. I'm not saying the documents will say Hardy was doing coke. Just that there were illegal drugs either being done at his house, or that someone had been doing them and then went to his house to continue the party. Not to mention I think this whole thing happened really early in the morning which usually means come was involved. The point is that the NFL can suspend you for conduct detrimental to the league simply for giving them a public black eye. The players collectively bargained for that, and gave Goodell the power to make that judgement call. They botched and moaned but at the end of the day back in 2011 they flinched before the owners did and this is what they get for allowing that kind of control to Goodell.
  18. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/02/13/nfl-formally-seeks-access-to-greg-hardy-court-file/ The NFL wants pertinent information relating to Hardy's case so that they can have a leg on to suspend him. Even though the NFLPA is a public defender compared to the NFL's F. Lee Bailey, I do think they would have a field day without this. Disregard the dismissal of charges. That doesn't matter in any way, shape, or form. What matters is if the NFL gets copies of these previously sealed court documents that show Hardy drinking and partying with a girl who was doing cocaine, and that partying led to a 'probable' physical altercation and communicated threats to that girl, then the NFL WILL ABSOLUTELY suspend Hardy. The question at that point then is where on the 2-6 game spectrum will he land? One could argue that he should get the two that was made a precedent with Ray Rice. Goodell could then argue fug you its 6 games because your Union lawyers are a joke. I'm more interested to see if the court overturns the motion to seal these records because the NFL is making the argument that due to the dismissal of charges they are no longer classified as preparatory documents needed to make a case against a defendant. What's also interesting is that they want access to the transcripts that wouldn't even exist if Hardy's attorney didn't pay to have them done during the bench trial. If my employer thought I was stealing and the only evidence of me doing so was a video I made on my phone, I certainly wouldn't be giving them my phone to use it against me. Of course on the other hand that would give them grounds to say ok then you are hiding something Bye Felicia. In the words of Jeffrey Lebowski; "This is a very complicated case Maude. A lot of ins, lot of outs, lotta what have yous."
  19. Whatever happened to sunbunny? I think that was her name anyway.
  20. I agree. I'm throwing out hypotheticals, I don't actually think they will play out that way though.
  21. RR gets my vote even if he doesn't want it.
  22. He obviously won't play for free or vet min and there's a 99.99% chance he won't be back. But you can't make light of it if he signed a one year deal to play for say $5MM. For an NFL player in his prime where your future isn't guaranteed, that would show A LOT of humility on Hardy's part IMO.
