I wouldn't release Bryce. Just throw a late round pick out and see what a different QB can do. It's low risk/high reward.
-
Yes. And here's the thing that made me conclude there is no reason to continue with Bryce. I don't see him ever being able to lead us on a deep playoff run. Not ever. Even if we squeak through it at 9-8 and win a weak division, we're going nowhere in the playoffs because he will never scare any defenses. We're just too easy to defend even if he is playing at his best.
-
Hooker is terrible, Dalton is too old, Bryce's ceiling is Trent Dilfer with no arm. The rest of the team might actually be pretty good. It's a damn shame to waste that by not trying to get a quarterback who might be able to actually do something.

The jury is out on Howell. It's in on Bryce. Howell only played one year and did make a lot of mistakes that year just like other QBS have made a lot of mistakes in their first year. Maybe with more experience in a different situation he'll do better, who knows? We do know that Bryce isn't the answer.

Very worried about this scenario.

I would be happy with whoever we could get for a sixth. I think we should do it even if Bryce is OK.
-
It would be a mistake barring massive improvement to pick up that option. He is so replaceable. If he trends slightly up this year, I'd use our second round pick on a QB AND pick up an FA to complete. I'd use the first on defense. If, as I think is likely, he continues being serviceable at best and we finish like 6-11, then use the first round pick on a QB.
-
Our next QB will be on a rookie contract or be a mid tier FA.

So much of this flows from no one having confidence in the QB play. That's why it's time to move on from Young right now. It's killing everything about the team. Trade a late round pick for a backup and roll with them and Dalton the rest of the way.

We already know. -
Every QB makes the pro bowl when you subtract their turnovers, bad throws, and shitty decisions.

Remember when we started Rodney Peete the first game of 2003 and we did nothing and we pulled him at the half and Jake came in and we won and went on the Super Bowl? This will be just like that except we won't win or go to the Super Bowl. But we should still do it. -

It's already lost. Zero confidence from anyone except maybe Tet. Hubbard still goes hard because he's a pro. -

This should be the last time he steps on the field for us, trade for a sixth or seventh and move on. -

Might as well just forfeit the rest of the games if we keep him in. I don't care if we play our way to the 8 pick instead of 1, it's not worth it -

I'm going to get poo-d on for this but I'm ready to trade for a QB. Like a late round pick for someone's backup. We can't just throw away this season. I don't even think the Panthers can afford not to. No way in hell am I watching 16 more games of hopelessness and I don't think I'm alone.
-
I think like people said we should have signed a vet rather than a mid-round pick, but I'm pretty pissed off about this. It's now looking like it's likely we have to endure 16 more games of this s***. It was entirely predictable.
-
And no it's not too early. No good quarterback has a game like that or makes decisions like those yesterday in their third season.
