PFF - What would it take for Panthers to trade up for #1 pick
pantherj replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Celebration is not really the word that would come to mind when the reality set in that CJ was a bust. I do think Fitt would be fired at that point (I hope), but we'd be suffering for a long time. This comes down to how risk adverse a person you are as to how you see this situation. -

let's say we take AR and he poops the bed, fine, go get another top prospect in 2024. Not the end of the world. But if we take CJ number one overall, then he has to pan out or we're bad until at least 2027.- 173 replies

Imagine Fitt whiffs on that QB pick, and then we have no 1st in 2024/2025, and good free agent QBs don't want to come here. Can't do that. -
We can't really hash this out if i don't know your plans for the team overall. Let's see your mock draft.
-
We can easily find a number 2 CB in the second round or later.
-
This is closer to what I think PFF wants.

Typical PFF. Jahmyr Gibbs at 39 is a C- move? No.

The PFN mock draft simulator was updated today.

The press made it seem as though Reich was to blame, but apparently the Colts owner thinks he's a QB guru and interfered with Reich's coaching reign. It didn't go well.
-
Did Reich ever get a QB he wanted when he was with the Colts?
-
Did Ryan's performance under Reich justify him remaining the starter? I don't remember what kind of numbers he was putting up. Were they decent?

I like to look to the past to get a feel for the present. I went back and looked at an old article. "Frank Reich's firing became inevitable for the Indianapolis Colts, a matter of when, not if. After Sunday's humiliating 26-3 loss to the New England Patriots, featuring one of the worst offensive performances in franchise history, the reality felt tangible in Reich's voice addressing the media. There was the playcaller of an offense that couldn't improve. The fingers had been pointed all round, dating back to last season. It was quarterback Carson Wentz, so they traded him in the offseason. It was quarterback Matt Ryan — Wentz's replacement — so they benched him. It was offensive coordinator Marcus Brady, so they fired him. The Colts ran out of people to point fingers at. It was Reich's time." https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/frank-reichs-firing-shows-new-colts-coach-will-need-qb-to-succeed Reich should not decide who should be our next QB imo.

Carr can be a nice bridge QB imo, but who here really believes Carr would defeat Burrow, Mahomes, or a newer superstar QB in the SB? No chance. That means no SB with Carr, and hence he is a bridge QB. Offer him a bridge QB contract, and if he turns his nose up, then who gives a poop?
