Conference Championship Games
DaveThePanther2008 replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
A flag against the offense? Impossible. I have seen some bad calls that favored one team (ie. New England) but the refs have taken it to another level when it comes to KC. KC is a Goodell favorite. -
Agreed. I can't thinkof one player we drafted with those picks that made an impact. We were stupid enough to take 2nds instead of 1st round picks.
-
I think we should draft a WR. Mingo and Theilen would IMO be the only ones I would keep. TMJ is a bust. I want a WR that's fast but is smart and can run routes. A great example is Puka Nacau. What a great find in Round 5. Speaking of which. We need to hit on some lower round prospects. I don't think we've had a good hit on a lower round since Andrew Norwell.

Tony Pauline: Campen was Tepper's "eyes and ears"
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Absolutely, I would make sure my staff knew that if they break the chain of command they will be fired immediately. This isn't the military but anytime you have some below you and going above you creates discontent. Tepper should know this more than anyone. He's the owner but has no clue on how to run a football team. -
I think it is a pretty sure thing he's staying. We turned down Jacksonville to let him coach their defense. I know Morgan was hired at the time but I don't think it matters. Unless Seattle nabs him for HC he'll be here in 2024.

The things that give me optimism is Morgan and Canales have background together. Both are fairly young and have a young QB to work with. If they turn around Young, we have a GM and head coach that will be here for his entire career. We have a pretty good defense and given some points to defend we might win a couple because of a good defense. The more I hear Reich was not really onboard with Young and I think it affected the way he ran the team. Tepper didn't like it and he gone before his 1st season. So I am of the belief that Young will be given another shot. I don't think Campen, or our offensive line is as bad as we think. It just blows my mind that 2022 our O-line was making holes, and we had a pretty decent running game. 2023 rolls around and our O-line looked like a mediocre college team. I am betting it was the scheme and not the personnel. The best thing I like about Canales is "Innovative" keeps showing up in conversations about him. I'm tired of seeing 6 plays run over and over again.

QB Quandary: 2024 Draft, FA Stopgap, or Stand Pat?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know the total drops we had in 2024 but it has to be near the top. Stop with the big receivers that can't run a route. We need solid route runners that are fighters. -
The Last 3 Drafts We Had 22 Total Selections...
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
What kills me is when teams are constantly hitting on 4th and 5th rounders and we're lucky if 1st and 2nd pans out. -
I haven't really followed on who's the best candidate for this team. What I would like to see is a head coach that can adjust his gameplan on the fly. We seem to always get a HC that has no answer for a defensive schemes. It just appears that we set our game plan and we do very little to change it. We haven't had a coach that was good at changing his gameplan since Dan Henning and he was just our OC. Who of the group we currently interviewing is really good at adjusting the game plan.
-
It doesn't make sense that our line was pretty decent in 2022 and a new regime comes in and all of a sudden we are the worst line in the league. Many have posted that the scheme is the culprit and not necessarily the players. I've never been much of a fan of zone blocking or whatever they call it these days, but we need to get back to utilizing the talent of the linemen which is more straight up blocking.
-
I like that you put route runner. it seems we don't value this trait too much. We are looking at players that perform well in college but do not have the route running skills necessary for the NFL. I'd rather a good route running speedster than a player that might be faster but runs poor routes.

Pretty confident its gonna be Dan Morgan GM
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
That would be a disaster for the Panthers. If Tepper pulls the plug on another HC and GM within a season we can forget about ever getting anyone decent to come to this team. No Man is going to come here to get a permanent blemish on his career, purposely. We'll end up with retread after retread as they are the only ones that would even consider trying to revive their careers. -
Fodder? Because you disagree with it? Morgan doesn't seem to be a YES man. I guess we'll see if he gets hired.
-
I've always thought Carolina did him wrong starting with Rhule. While Cam's arm strength may not have been what it was. We haven't had QB that threw a deep pass since he left. So, what's the difference. Cam at least could avoid sacks and make plays. It's so frustrating to watch Young get sacked the moment a defender touches him.
-
I've actually heard the opposite of Morgan. I read he was the only one that would disagree with Tepper. We have to have GM that is going to get Tepper to listen to his staff. Tepper has to realize that he is making owners like Jerry Jones and the former owner of the Commanders, Dan Snyder, look like geniuses.

Who is falling for the Peacock Wildcard bullshitt
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
It won't be long before all playoff games will be PPV. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually all NFL games will be PPV. Greed is a very bad thing, and the NFL is a greedy corporation. -
This is how I view Tepper. He may be a big fan of the game but should not have any say in which players are retained, let loose, picked up in free agency and most importantly who is drafted. Stop looking at what someone did in college and expect the exact performance in the NFL. You can offer your input but in the end let the Pros make the decision.
-
Morgan is a former player and like Lynch a pretty smart guy. I wouldn't be against it. Especially if what I heard was true that he stood up to Tepper.
-
I'm not so.much on Wilks but Cam, with a noodle arm is 100% better than Young.
-
I wish this would happen but Tepper's ego is far to big for him to accept that he's a major reason why this team is so bad. I said earlier why doesn't he take the model from the team he came from? PITTSBURGH The owner is hand off but still gets credit for having a great team.

With Panthers cleaning house how safe is Bryce
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's not a lock on being the game one starter but he'll definitely be the #1 QB going into camp.
