Funny thing is that Evero has done well because Tepper DID NOT MEDDLE WITH HIS STAFF. Evero has many assistants he’s worked with before. Meanwhile the offense was a mish mash of random coaches from around the NFL because Tepper insisted Reich “go outside his circles” to build a staff. Pair the unfamiliarity of the coaching staff with Bryce Young’s struggles and it was a recipe for disaster.

He wasn’t the greatest GM of all time but he is easily the best GM the Panthers have had and one of the best 1st round drafters of all time. But I guess hitting his first rounders for the better part of two decades is just lucky to you. Meanwhile your best friend Dave Gettleman is a certified dick who whiffed on several of his first rounders, and let’s not even get to the worst Panthers GM of all time Scott Fitterer. I’d take Hurney era competency back right about now.

Hurney at least had an eye for talent. He was about as boom or bust as it got. His hits were home runs. His whiffs were catastrophic.

There’s no way to evaluate Young the rest of the season. The coaching staff is mailing it in, the players don’t give a sh*t, they’ve given up. Bryce is f*cking awful right now and should be benched. Could he improve? Of course. Is the offensive line bad? Yep. Are his WRs JAGs aside from an aging Thielen? Yep. Is the scheme a complete joke? Yep. Is the playcalling juvenile? Yep. Is the mood in the building suicidal? Probably. Next year there will be a new coaching staff, hopefully more talent on offense, and renewed optimism. Bryce will get what will probably be his final shot to be the Panthers starting QB. He needs to show something, anything really, to show progress and growth as an NFL QB. If he doesn’t then this was the worst trade in NFL history and Bryce might not last 3 years in the NFL. He could have a great career as an NFL commentator or possibly a coach.
