  1. Damn, you gotta have some years on you, sir, to even remember vibes of Harold Carmichael. I saw Harold Carmichael play in person at the Vet back in 1973. He and Roman Gabriel were my favorite players at the time.
  2. See, that's the real deal. You like that "Disney star" thing!
  3. Plenty think that he should be paid like one apparently.
  4. Under the proposed question--the poll, which is based upon fantasy at this point, that's a decent answer, but those aren't real options. Another realistic option is draft a receiver that's superior to D.J. and/or acquire one in free agency. For me, the answer will be more clear after the 2021 season.
  5. It is what it is. For comparison's sake, from what we know so far Watson's behavior pales in comparison. That, and the fact that rich guys may even be able to get away with literal murder, I can see where Watson may not be in as much trouble as some believe. And, to be fair, he hasn't even been proven guilty in a court of law. I believe this situation is going to get a lot uglier. IMO, all the defense really has to do is impugn the testimony of one of the witnesses, or possibly even the veracity of some of Buzbee's personal claims (e.g., he doesn't know the McNair family), then the case(s) starts falling apart.
  6. Bunch of damned pansies! I won't eat their poo to this day because of it.
  7. I don't believe we'll do that, but we do have Teddy in the event that Tepper wants to gamble. Wouldn't it be ironic if Bridgewater was a reason why we decided to gamble that Watson will eventually be OK to continue his career?
  8. PJ better make a whole helluva better decisions than he did on the field in 2020. He looked decent before he started throwing INTs in the end zone!
  9. I think it's very much apropos to the discussion. Doesn't matter if it's a politician, businessman, movie director, actor, athlete or what.
  10. If we're not picking a QB or an LT, only then would I consider Pitts! But, I'm not taking him over Lance, Fields, Wilson, Slater or Sewell. After that, there would be a discussion about Pitts, Farley, Surtain or Parsons.
  11. Just the fact that they let a top 5 receiver get away for basically nothing should tell anyone all they need to know. Nuk wanted out, Watt wanted out and Watkins wants out. The Texans are a poo show!
  12. Judging a WR by this oft-mentioned stat in the Huddle is simplistic. No analyst in the NFL would do such. Not only should you consider the context, but more importantly you have to look at the ability to consistently beat the press, run crisp, concise routes, excel at a variety of routes, and catch the ball. D.J. is outstanding at some of these things, and ok to fair at others. The major players in advanced analytics think there are roughly 20 better receivers in the NFL based upon 2020. I tend to agree, but Moore is younger than most of these guys, so that increases his value in theory and probably practical terms. I don't know why you guys can't see that, but it's not a big deal. But, yeah, I thinks it's very humorous that you think Moore is going to be the highest paid receiver in the league when he hasn't earned that honor.
  13. Will Grier hasn't played enough to count for anything. Allen can throw, he just throws to the wrong team way too much. Just so you don't get it twisted, I think Moore is worth an extension, just not as a top 5 receiver in the league, because his play nor his relative progress earned that type of money IMO. I think that at this point the Panthers FO would probably agree with me, and will not pay him as a top 5 or 10 receiver in the league unless he ups his level of play in 2021. At that point, I'd be willing to give him that type of payday too. At this point, I'm not!
  14. He can certainly afford it. I quoted the wrong post. Interesting thought to grab a rookie, but hold out for Watson. I'd be OK with that.
  15. It's actually not, because you know damned well that he wouldn't have, but for the threat of Anderson on the other side (and Samuel in the middle if you get right down to it).
  16. I watched the games--all of them! And I am receiver guy. I have already stated that Moore is the more valuable receiver. He also likely has the highest upside. Does that mean that I believe he's worth 18+ mil per year based upon 2020 if he does something similar in 2021 and Anderson does something similar in 2021 based upon his numbers? No. Anderson would clearly provide the better value. So, that means I would look for Moore's number to come down from that top money that apparently some here believes that he is supposed to get. If Moore is supposed to be a top five or 10 receiver in the league, and all that entails as far as handling double and triple coverage with superior route running and catching the damned ball when his number is called, then I would think that all the analysts and people who crunch the numbers like PFF, Football Outsiders and Next Gen stats would give him that respect. They give him the respect of being a top 20-25 receiver in the league, and from what I've seen, they're probably about right! They don't base things simply on yardage, nor should they. You have to look at yardage within context! Now does that mean he won't get paid 18 mil+ per year? No. The market may demand it based upon circumstances. Do I think we should think about paying him that? Sure. Do I think that we should pay him that based upon his play and progress here based upon his first few years? No! He's going to have to manifest his progress and earn that type of money in 2021!
  17. Not based upon what he has done so far. He better step it up in 2021!
  18. D.J. Moore is the WR1 for the Panthers, getting a lot of production in pure garbage time! No one is mistaking him for the few true ones that you have in the league, save for some Huddlers. I have watched Moore for years, and he has been fairly consistent with his production and route running which means that we may be seeing his ceiling (very good in spurts, but not great)! Do you think it's coincidence that he and Robbie (and Samuel) had arguably their best years while playing together? It wasn't! He and Anderson are the types of guys that excel when playing amid talent, and are not necessarily like OBJ, Allen Robinson, Julio, or even a Keenan Allen who will get theirs regardless. On an off note, Teddy did not play to Anderson's strength. As a matter of fact he was a hindrance to it!
  19. Anderson had 18 more targets than Moore, a little more than one per game. I'd argue that Samuel was his favorite target based upon his targets vs snap count, but of course Samuel was the slot man. Where Anderson eclipsed Samuel by a marked margin is in catch percentage roughly around 15 percent more completions on a relative basis.
  20. Simply saying that doesn't mean a thing.
  21. Yes he has, but he's played in a markedly better situation as well, and he's always been the expected WR1 and got those opportunities. Anderson came into the league as an undrafted free agent!
  22. And honestly, they didn't present anything new in this article. We've all heard the same arguments here, but for the new situation and circumstances surrounding it, weeks ago! And at least in my mind, this new situation doesn't make him any more likely to want to be a Texan. The new reasoning--if you can call it that--is poppycock!
  23. You said that Moore is our best receiver and it's not close. I said it is close. The numbers in fact do prove that out, but you are correct, they don't tell the whole story (but, remember, that goes both ways). 28, which he is not yet, is not pushing 30. Anderson still has multiple prime years left depending upon how well he takes care of his business! Look, dude, I'm not disagreeing that it may be an oversight to devalue or belittle Moore. He is likely our most valuable receiver simply due to him being so young and hopefully yet to hit his stride, but he's going to have to up his game if he expects to get paid like a top five receiver in the game. He simply hasn't showed that skill level in regards to route running, or flat out doggedness! We're not talking Tyreek Hill, Michael Thomas or Allen Robinson here. He's going to have to play to that level before I'd open up the bank vault and deal him that type of money. Truth be told, in today's dollars He should probably get like 13-16 mil max. With everything that he's done (or not)--and you can whine about the QB play to a point--Moore hasn't played beyond the level where he isn't supposed to be a value-type signing as compared to a top dollar signing (Anderson hasn't either). If he expects that, then he better prove it this year (and I don't care what the Giants handed Golladay), otherwise he's still in the same tier, though a little higher on the wage scale, as Robby.
