  1. I guess that we know which Jerry has the bigger balls. Everything is bigger in Texas, right?
  2. I don't think anyone can deny that Hardy wanted to play here in a bad kind of way. To say he wouldn't have played here on a cheap deal is just speculation because it makes people feel better about Jerry Richardson and the whole situation. News Flash: All of you sensitive, holier than thou types can feel good about the situation anyway.
  3. When an old and powerful curmudgeon starts crying in public and acquiescing to puffed up public pressure---not to mention agreeing to voluntarily throw $13 million out the window---all to the detriment of the team, it may be time to step down.
  4. Why would anyone want J-Rich to die? It's more like how my 80+ year old mama-in-law fussed and fought about whether she should still be driving or not. She eventually came to the realization with a little coaxing here and there---complete with some terrifying moments for some family members on I80--- that it wasn't a good idea anymore.
  5. Do tell! I thought that Gettleman made that decision /end sarcasm.
  6. Yeah I remember plenty of people arguing against Benjamin. The same ones were probably anti-Cam also.
  7. To the chagrin of many, Gurley may just be G-man's BPA at 25, if he's there. Pre-injury, Gurley was widely considered a top 10 pick. Even post-injury, he is still widely considered to be in play for the first round. That should tell you something. All of these people aren't saying that Gurley is a first round graded talent for nothing. No one has talked about an RB like Gurley for years.
  8. Well, I wanted Benjamin, as did Gettleman. His rankings are all that count.
  9. Rankings don't really mean poo unless they are on the draft board. A legit franchise QB is the most valuable commodity that a team can find. Newton has the highest upside and ability to impact a game than them all.
  10. Mariotta is a project QB probably with the upside of Alex Smith. He is not the BPA. Teams often draft QBs for need, and that's why QBs drafted so highly end up with a very high bust rate.
  11. Da fuq are you talking about? Cam was most definitely the BPA. I jest, but he was, and still is of that draft.
  12. poo, this is the only Panthers news. Perhaps if G-man would sign some veteran receivers the Ball wouldn't have slipped through our hands.
  13. Nicks, Jennings, Moore, and two guys that may be a really hard sell to Our FO in Holmes and Mike Williams. Other than that, all I see is a big void of nothing until the draft.
  14. If Gettleman is willing to essentially give him another prove it deal, then why not take it and prove it? I just don't understand Nicks' reluctance to come home and grasp the bull by the horns. It seems to me that it would be fairly easy for a veteran receiver with his record of work to make himself invaluable to the team. Sure injury is always a risk, but, hey, with risks come bigger rewards. Otherwise, he just needs to be realistic, lower his salary expectations, and try to compromise for something that will allow he and his family a comfortable living. The market is just not there for him. On some level he is a victim of his own hubris, fear, inability to be realistic, or whatever it was that sent him to Indy. I don't know. In any event he was marginalized up there in that offense. If he can't stand out at home, then perhaps more money and fame just aren't meant to be. As for being a 1000 yard receiver, he essentially has to flip the script on the way his needle is heading. I don't know that he can do that, or would even need to do that in our offense to secure himself a modest $3 million per year and 5-6 guaranteed. That sounds about right for an injury prone WR3 (which reality says he is). But good luck to him, for real. Just tell him to live modestly and invest his money wisely, whatever he does. I know that he wished for more, but tell him there is something to be said for being a hometown hero. That goodwill could turn into some decent (and material) opportunities after all is said and done as well. But it all starts on the field. I guess there's no need to rush significant life decisions, but it sure would be nice if he would sign, work and start to build up some chemistry with Cam.
  15. 4 mil for Crabs is a bit much, but 1.5-2.5 for Nicks, Jennings or Moore wouldn't be bad at all.
  16. Would it really be a luxury pick? I mean, Stewart will be 28 tomorrow. Let's say that he has another good two or three years, presuming that he is with us (and restructures and all that), then he is bound to start slowing down. Gurley may just be entering his prime at the ripe old age of 23 or 24. And all this is assuming that Stewart can stay on the field for an appreciable amount of time. Whitaker just doesn't do it for me. He is a journeyman back who is good as an RB3, not a full time starter.
  17. More like: Son of a bitch, man. But in a good, tough love kind of way.
  18. Not signing Hardy was a year too late, so I don't think that's a good example.
  19. I wouldn't say that. It's all about BPA and value. However, Gettleman to pass rushing big men is kind of like me when it comes to Panthers paraphernalia. If it's cheap and it's there, it's mine.
