  1. but not really? if the panthers thought this then they would’ve helped him drive up his price for what everyone believed was a divisional foe what you’re saying is illogical
  2. And virtually all of the leagues top QBs stay in the afc panthers still have a shot to be *the* team in their conference but they have to get their guy and they have to do it now
  3. “let’s get a ‘decent’ QB and a DOMINATE o-line to shepherd us to the 1st pick in the draft!” do people really not see the logic fallacy there
  4. I was literally in the process of editing this when it timed me out and told me I couldn’t edit it. What a dumb feature.
  5. yeah this is what I was saying yesterday And I hate to look like a sore loser but afterall that guy has been through, to be so caught up in market and nightlife, etc well I’d be a pinch concerned.
  6. there really isn’t anything to suggest that it was Matt rhule specifically that drove them away its probably more to do with the image of our team, fostered by our own poor performance and the general perception of us driven by the media that we aren’t cool or interesting in any way (even when they’re good, “wOrSt 10-0 tEAm EvEr?!?!”)
  7. this time last year there was a desperate push to just wait one more year, it’s a strong QB class next year, just wait, get hog mollies, get a bellcow back, get a CEREBRAL linebacker, just wait, get Howell or Ridder or Rattler next year here we are. Same posters. it’s not about the players.
  8. spoilers: the same people who never want a QB will never want a QB they live under the delusion of the perfect storm hitting us, just one year away, annually. ”let’s build an elite roster and get the 1st pick in the draft!” It’s a fundamentally broken approach that, at best, will leave the team in Titans territory, good enough to pick 20 each season, but never good enough to compete for a Championship-and for some of them, this is okay, as long as the team is CHEWING CLOCK AND POUNDING ROCKS.
  9. why am I not surprised to find out people are outraged to find out the cap is meaningless
  10. want to avoid burning those bridges with teams you play twice a season as long as possible
  11. Do it. Too much talent. If you as a coach don’t want to trying and refine that skill then you probably don’t have the psyche to win in this business. i like Pickett just fine but Willis can do stuff other guys cannot.
  12. it really pays to have the media going to bat for you and shilling for your organization the sports media at large did not want to see the Saints return to obscurity
  13. I mean obviously he’s cognizant of not trying to completely rob his new team, but there’s a line, and most players don’t tend to care too much about the details beyond how it affects them. anyways, yeah, that needs to be the next move. if nothing else at least the push for Watson can put us at ease with the laugher idea thrown about on here that the team should intentionally bypass drafting a potential franchise QB to “punish” Matt rhule for trading oh so precious draft picks.
  14. I really don’t think he’s trying to stick it to the Texans anymore. He hasn’t had any leg to stand on since the civil suits started rolling in and he hasn’t acted like he has. He’s been a good little foot soldier since then and it makes sense to see it through. They still have some leverage if they don’t get a good enough offer. as for Flores… well that was clearly overblown. He could still play for Flores but has made no push to do so whatsoever. I think he just wanted Miami.
  15. that’s how you know he’s a real fan of this franchise
  16. I mean maybe but he’s turned down quite a few good football opportunities in the process. He supposedly wanted to be with Flores desperately but that clearly wasn’t the case.
  17. The lions no. The browns sure. But he turned them down as well. At minimum because of the cold weather and at ‘maximum’ because it’s Cleveland. look at the teams he’s gravitated to. South Beach. Mardi Gras city. The ATL. hes turned down some pretty great opportunities from hum drum cities like Pittsburgh in the process.
  18. my conspiracy theory is that we were the leverage team all along hes shown complete disinterest in coming here every time we’ve made a pursuit, we simply aren’t a big enough market with a thriving enough night life and enough ESPN street cred for his tastes but we’re offering more than anyone else, so the Texans asked Deshaun to at least just meet with us to help set the bar for a trade, and that he didn’t have to pick us watson, trying to leave on amicable terms, said sure.
  19. I remember this board being in much the same state when Luck went back to school it was a weak QB class there was no hope and you couldn’t draft a QB that was so raw and relied so much on his legs, who was too stupid to play the pro game this team needs a dude like that, and they need to draft him
  20. I can buy players who can do all those things for pennies on the dollar, and I can buy it without having to coach them to do it. im not making a pick because I’m worried about Matt rhule or david Tepper, that’s absurd. I still have to manage my draft with an understanding of value over the long haul. Can I obtain an elite passer or pass rusher in free agency? Can I do it inexpensively? No? But can I do it with Center? Yes? why would I even care about my center’s ability to call protections? That’s like evaluating a wide receiver’s ability to read defenses. You generally expect it out of them, and most do it well or well enough-but the guys who are drafted high are drafted there because they can do things other guys can’t.
  21. No one ever cheers over the pick of a center because you’ve wasted an opportunity to acquire a truly meaningful talent at a position that’s hard to address for a low risk-no reward option whose only benefit is allowing the guy making the selection to say “see? I didn’t draft a bust, don’t fire me.” it is a such a waste of a selection to the extent that the panthers would be better served not selecting anyone in the hopes that a division rival ultimately ends up taking the Center and forfeiting their opportunity to make a meaningful acquisition to their squad, and to make such a pointless selection at the expense of an opportunity to take a shot at a franchise QB or a play making DE is how you carve out your own personal niche of suck
