  1. Right. but no extension for Bryce yet. 5th year option? Sure. I think Bryce's camp will agree they aren't in the best place to demand an extension or top dollar.
  2. If they can bring in competition that doesn't prevent them from bringing in definite starters at other positions of need, then they should ABSOLUTELY do that. No questions asked. But there are way too many holes on this team that need to be addressed before going all out to get a QB. FTR, the same was true in 2023.
  3. Oh I don't disagree that Carolina was the master of their own fate and put it into ATL's hands. Not a great look. But getting into the playoffs for a team as young and devoid of talent as this one is no small feat. The margin of error in the NFL is miniscule. One play. One player falling down or slipping. One bad penalty call (or two, or three, or four) could be the difference in winning or losing.
  4. Agree, they could have. But Tampa could have just beaten Carolina both times. Or Atlanta could have beaten Carolina and Tampa like the Saints did. The point is a team had to get in. The best team based on tiebreaker rules. It wasn't luck. No one pulled a name out a hat. Carolina won the division. They weren't gifted it.
  5. I keep seeing this in the Huddle. But which WR since 2023 has gone to another team and done better? Just one has even really played for another team. And his numbers aren't even remotely as good as they were when he was here - Adam Thielen in case you haven't figured it out.
  6. There was a 3 way record tie in the division. Any team was going to back in to the playoffs via tiebreaker. Why not Carolina if we won the right games to get us in?
  7. Yall are a little unrealistic. This is the first time in his 3 years that this QB has had a roster they could actuallyt win with - and we're in the playoffs. No one to throw to and the worst interior oline this franchise has ever fielded as a rookie. Defense was meh but would get worse. Second season Derrick Brown gets injured for the year in the first game and we march out the worst run defense (and possibly overall defense) in the history of the NFL. So many on here talking about an average QB would have this team with 12+ wins. You're delusional. How many games would we have won last season with just an average defense? KC, Philly and the first TB games off the top of my head. And that's with Thielen as your best receiver, rookie XL and rookie Coker. David Moore was the second best receiver last season. David Moore. This season the defense has improved but we're lining up too many rookies to make it to the playoffs on both sides of the ball, yet here we are. I ain't saying Bryce Young is the answer, but he has been a big part of some big wins this season. I'm hopeful that we'll see improvement when he has more time with this very young receiving corp. Remember, they're learnig how to be pros at the same time as we're going to the playoffs. The only veteran receiving presence we've had this year is Tommy Tremble. We could actually see big improvement if David Moore comes back healthy. And that is saying alot.
  8. I just want them to go all out. Playcalling, passing, running, catching, everything. Everybody act like they're playing with house money and throw caution to the wind. This playing not to lose thing is not the way.
  9. Now come on. So Bryce Young offers no value to this offense? Ever? Come on PNW. I think Bryce Young would be a much more successful player if he was drafted by Philly.
  10. So you think Hurts took Philly to the Super Bowl then, right? I disagree. I think he was a passenger but he wasn't driving the ship.
  11. Anyone think Jalen Hurts took Philly to the Super Bowl?
  12. That's fair and where I am right now too. Losing for draft picks and to justify releasing players is not ok.
  13. Dang! A third of the votes would rather lose than have BY come back. I don't think this is a fan forum anymore. Really thought there were only a few guys here that cheered for him to fail. 36% is crazy work!
  14. I agree. And as for the QB. He needs to stick around until they find his replacement, or hopefully he shows more consistency game to game and play to play.
  15. Didn't Carolina beat them without Jaycee and Moehrig last time? Adding Hunt and Moore to the offense will help ALOT. Particularly if Moore is taking XL's snaps.
  16. Show me how defenses are playing the Panthers to stop the run and force the QB to beat them. They don't usually have more than 7 or 8 players within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage, and 7 in the box. That's actually pretty common. They play Nickel and Dime on passing downs and a lot of zone. Daring a QB to beat you is running mostly man with run fit blitzes that stifle the run or pressure the QB if he's passing. That's usually when Bryce will take a shot deep, particularly on 3rd or 4th down.
  17. I think a smoke is a screen play. Everyone but the primary receiver is usually blocking. I'm talking line your receiver out wide and run a quick slant. Not a dig or an out. That guy shouldn't get to the middle of the field before getting the ball. If so, it's too late and you're likely gonna get him killed. Especially if the defense is in zone.
  18. Yeah Strato... that's just not true. It may appear that way. But guys are running routes to the sticks on 3rd and manageable. Canales also will abandon the run if it's not working, like in Seattle. He probably should have mixed up the downs he called run plays. Teams tend to stack the box on 1st down agaist Carolina more than other downs. I think that's more understanding playcalling tendencies than anything else.
  19. Yeah, I wouldn't crown a 26 years old rookie too fast though. He played well late in the season but that second year could be tough now that they have film on him.
  20. Quick slants only then, with the outside receiver. Though I disagree that he can't (or doesn't like to) throw to the middle of the field.
  21. I really disagree that Canales calls a conservative game early. I used to think the same thing but watched a couple of games a little closer and came to the conclusion that Bryce PLAYS conservative early. Maybe he needs to get into a rhythm or something. I don't know. If he does, then give him some easy completions - slants and screens. If it's just an MO thing, then take away anything short and make him launch it early.
