BREAKING: Panthers signing Rashad Penny
Navy_football replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think there were ever many "that's my quarterback" crowds. He had a horrible season. There were a lot of "we don't know what we have because the team is so bad" folk though - myself included. I didn't think your post was calling out Bryce, seemed more of an acknowledgement that the offense was void of talent. But I guess you really were calling out Bryce. At least you're consistent. -
Where would the Panthers be if they sat Bryce Young last season?

Frank? What game did Sam Darnold play over his entire time in Carolina where he look remotely as good as Daltons one game against Seattle? Name one. Not even stats wise, with a much better supporting cast. Agree Bryce needs to play better. The oline needs to be better. The receivers need to be better. The TEs need to be better. The running backs need to be better. The scheme and playcalling need to be better. Yet, some are hung up on one player not elevating all those weaknesses. But you're right, barring injuries, we'll know more by November-ish. -

No one is making an argument FOR Bryce Young. I think we're just pointing out the fallacy that Dalton was this huge improvement at the QB position that would have saved the season. He wouldn't have made it through 8 games. He wouldn't have passed 60 times a game. He wouldn't have played an injured Seattle defense every week. -
The point is that Ladd could replace Johnson at a fraction of the cost. If Jaycee stays healthy, they're gonna have to make some hard decisions in a couple of years.
-
Johnson is gonna want $20M+ next year. That's why they should have drafted Ladd.

It's like folk didn't even watch the game. Dalton took a beating, and barely avoided a lot more violent hits. No 35 years old QB is going to survive a season like that. Imagine him against Dallas or Houston or Indy or Detroit or New Orleans twice! He played better than Bryce in that 1 game, but he wouldn't have lasted half the season. -
I really don't see it with Penix. Sure he has a strong arm, but he was just out there chucking the ball deep to a receiving corps that was better than the Panthers last season. Odunze, Polk, McMillan and Bernard is a crazy group in college! I just don't see his play style working in the NFL.

Yeah... Teddy had real weapons when he was in Carolina. DJ, Robbie and Curtis Samuel are legit weapons. Throw in CMC as a receiving back and that was an obvious underperformance.
-
I'll go first: 4000 yards passing 20 TDs passing and rushing Anything less would be disappointing in my eyes.
-
So what will define a successful season for Bryce Young in 2024? Please don't come with the "look like a real NFL QB" type responses. Like statistically. Yards, TDs, INTs, QBR, wins, etc. What will it take for the masses to believe Bryce is the franchise QB they drafted, and last year was just a cluster fug of bad team ball?

Panthers Select Chau Smith-Wade DB - Round 5, Pick 157

For a 5'9" corner, that's too slow to compete. -
Wait... 6'1" with a 42.5" vertical?

I know itβs earlt but Dan THE MAN Morgan is IMPRESSING me
Navy_football replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm going to trust Dan and his team's scouting, but if you would have told me the Panthers could have gone into this draft without a first round pick and legitimately came away with: Ladd or AD Mitchell, Kool Aid, Payton Wilson, Jatavion Sanders, Sedrick Van Pran, Malik Washington and still had a pick... I'd be very disappointed in what they came away with. Very disappointed. -
How did you know that before they picked?
-
Malik Washington in the 5th and Jase McClellan in the 6th/7th/UDFA.
-
Blake Corum is an all around back. Speed, elusive, power, and a legit dawg. Great leader on and off the field. Can't see what Brooks gives that he doesn't.
-
ALERT: Mike Garafalo, Panthers taking RB in 2nd round
Navy_football replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Curious... why? -
If they do draft a Ladd McConkey, then I'm onboard with that.
-
I don't know why people think Ladd or Mitchell would be redundant to Thielen and Johnson. Ladd and Mitchell are 4.3 guys. Johnson was a 4.5 guy coming out of college and Thielen is probably a 4.6/4.7 guy at this point. They are not the same type of athletes.
-
I keep seeing WR as a need for them, and I just don't agree. They have great WRs. They just can't keep their QB upright or on the field because their oline is below NFL average.

Panthers Select Xavier Legette WR - Pick 32, Round 1
Navy_football replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
If BY regresses this season, I think there's a VERY good chance they begin looking for his replacement in 2025. If he maintains, they'll likely try backups more during the season just to see what they have at other positions. I doubt either happens though. BY will be fine and show a lot of improvement next season. Now 2025 is the year he needs to break out. If this offense isn't drastically improved in 2025, then he could become a trading chip as they look for his replacement in earnest. -
