Anyone on here with knowledge of insurance policies for players this old? I know for young players it's common, wouldn't imagine it's as easy to get anything worthwhile towards the end of a career. $14M bump this year, which is really "only" a $9M bump when you factor the DE franchise tag is $21M. But even at $30M for this year, he's F'd if he gets seriously hurt this season. He would've been better off not playing this year, signing with someone next year for what would've easily been $60 to $80 million guaranteed over 2 or 3 years. He would lose the $16M this year and his guaranteed net would still be $30-$50 million more across the life of the new contract. Hope he stays healthy.

Looking good in Summer league means nothing, it's what you're supposed to do as a top 5 pick. Looking bad in Summer league means a lot, especially as a top 5 pick. Kon came to life in the second half of tonight's game, we will see if he can sustain it. Even with his lightning in a bottle quarter he is 6 for 18 (33% FGs), 3 for 10 (30% 3FGs) and 6 for 10 (60% FTs). As it stands now, he has been incredibly underwhelming. Not just in his stats, but in his overall presence on the floor. That's my biggest concern watching him, he just looks out of place. Could care less if he shoots 10% if he's being aggressive and taking the game to people. He's not even close to doing that. There is a difference between having a bad night and looking like you don't belong on the floor. See Cooper Flagg's first game where he was statistically awful but looked athletically dominant and aggressive.

Not going to say bust, but Kon looks like he doesn't belong in this league. Through 45 minutes of action, he's 2 for 11 from field, 1 for 7 from three and 4 for 8 from free throw line. And his one make from three was a lucky, hail Mary, terrible, contested shot that no coach would ever want you to take. You're the #4 overall pick, for ONLY your shooting ability and you're 4 for fuging 8 from the free throw line. He spends 90% of his time standing in a corner doing absolutely nothing. This is going to be Adam Morrison all over again.

My issue is if he’s injured enough to miss GAME 2 of summer league, then why did he play game 1? He needs the reps, he was absolutely horrible in game 1. He looked like he didn’t even belong in the NBA. So either sit him until October and let him get healthy, or throw him out there every chance possible to let him develop vs the speed and size of this league. There’s no such thing as half pregnant.
