Update: Charles Tillman signed by Panthers (official)
t96 replied to OnlyPantherFaninMaine's topic in Carolina Panthers
Great article, thanks for posting. Only thing that worries me is this: I don't want us signing him to a 1 year deal, only for him to play lights out like he did in 2012 and then walk like our 2013 signings did. Give him at least a 2 or 3 year deal with incentives and roster bonuses and I'll be happy. -

Who else did we have when Godfrey was playing nickel? -

Interesting thought. If McD ends up a head coach and Wilks becomes DC maybe Tillman to DBs coach? -

Neither Bene or Norman is fast. I just want good guys who can play. Tillman fits that bill despite his age, and he'd come really cheap, as well as mentor our young guys. -

Honestly think he would be a better signing than Ball. Would be able to play across from Norman and have Bene the permanent slot guy in nickel packages. Not to mention he's a great guy all around (another NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year winner) and would be great for the locker room and young guys in our secondary. If we can get Tillman and then Jennings as well and if Gettleman drafts like he did last year I honestly see us being a powerhouse in the league, and being a top Super Bowl contender. -
I agree. Either Greg's waiting to find his best option, or the prices are off in discussions. I just don't think that we (or another team) wouldn't give him a 3-4 year deal or longer though. I think there's almost zero chance he signs a 1 year deal as you suggested.
-
And I'm saying he wasn't any more of a threat in Green Bay than he was in Minnesota. Stats are what make it seem like he was worse in Minnesota, but he wasn't. Teams that watch film will be able to realize that. He's aging and has lost speed, so that factors in to a degree, but he was never a burner.
-
Teams don't look at stats to determine whether they sign a player. So no, teams will not look at that. They will look at the tape. QB play factors into how "good" a WR looks and their stats, and going from Favre/Rodgers to Ponder/Cassell/Bridgewater is quite a big difference. Jennings was never some high-end #1 like he seemed to be (to fans) with the Packers, and like he was paid by the Vikings. But he is a solid #2 or low-end #1, and that held true with both the Packers and Vikings.
-
He was the same player in Minnesota as he was in Green Bay. Teams know that.
-
I don't remember the exact tweet, but he never indicated nor implied that another team was signing him. I think he just used Greg's tweet where Greg said he had a done deal. Joe just said the Panthers weren't signing him. Maybe could've clarified it better, but I never got that Greg was signing with another team from what Joe said.
-
How are they different? They're both completely harmless. Anyone who's pissed at Greg really needs to step back and take a look at their life.
-
Interesting how everyone's ripping on Greg for having an "ego" or being "self-centered" when what he's doing isn't all that different from what Cam does and everyone says "oh he's just having fun and playing around." Greg did a silly april fools joke that involved his kids, no harm there. Posted about "good charlotte" and "miami something." So what? No different than Cam doing his first down signal all the time--just having their fun. I'm sure you'd all think it was hilarious if he or someone else did this with the Aints or Falcons and then signed elsewhere.
-
No he didn't.

RUMOR: Panthers looking to move up to 16-20th pick

Exactly. I can't believe someone thinks we can't compete with the Giants or Texans... -

No you have no clue what you're talking about, Scot. Don't you remember we got blown out by the Giants 38-0....oh wait....And the Texans had like 5 more wins than us....oh wait.... -

I want him to be and if he's there at 25 I think he'll be the pick, but I really don't see him falling. This is gonna be a great draft. -

This is the first draft in a while where I can think of over a dozen guys we may pick. I predicted Cam, not Luke but didn't rule him out, Star and KB. -

I count 3 out of 6. -
Like Nicks...? I stand by what I've said. Corey Brown will have a better career than Denarius Moore when all is said and done.
-
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6658/denarius-moore He actually signed yesterday, just saw it on NFLN. Didn't see a thread or any mention here. Some here (top dawg) really wanted him, so another WR off the market. Not a big deal in my opinion, but I'm curious how much he got. I still see us bringing in some wideout competition later in FA (after the draft), maybe Jennings maybe not, but someone, so this affects us.
-
Kelvin had 0 drug or domestic violence concerns. DGB has both. It's safe to say that he's off our draft board.
-
I can see him passing up on a ticking time bomb.
-
Love Agholor but I don't see any way he's there at our pick in the 2nd. Talk is that the Eagles are high on him and he could be their 1st rounder even. I like Hardy but not McBride. I see Strong falling behind Perriman and DGB and going to us. Hardy in the 3rd/4th, and our WRs could be outstanding.

Always tire me out fast, but it's good and fun for the few hours before I've got my ass planted in my chair watching some old movie or sporting event. I wouldn't be able to handle it if I had to do any of the cooking or cleaning or planning. I do what I'm asked to do: stay out of the way. So it all works out.
